Great comments on the thermostats, Dave. I've always used pulse thermostats with my reptiles, because - as you rightly said - the heat mat doesn't go cold-hot-cold. Again - your comment about NOT putting the mat on the floor of the enclosure is spot on. Many (even experienced) hobbyists don't realise just how hot those things can get.
Thank you, Dave. I love the informative and friendly atmosphere of your videos. I learned many useful tricks from you. The main difference for me is that it is humid and hot where I live so the spiders don't need fiddling with humidity and temperature; they grow fast. Looking forward to your new videos.
“Keep plodding along.” Thank you Dave and Camera Lady. Wonderful and informative video tonight. Congratulations on all the M. balfouri babies! Sending love and light from here.
Very interesting about the humidity levels! From every other keeper I hear to keep them dry, but if the humidity encourages the female to make her egg sack, that definitely indicates they don’t like it bone dry… Thanks as always!
Hi Dave Very nice video.I do not keep any spiders, but I find them all so very fascinating. And thanks to you, I have learned so much about them. Your narration is excellent, and camera lady gets the best views. You have such a wonderful variety of spiders. Love your channel.🕷🕸Cindy Florida USA
i find it fascinating that the tarantulas have their own way of webbing and making egg sacs, I have learned a lot from this show and I found that the more i learn about spiders the less scary they have become and now I use a catchcup to move huntsmen outside, I couldn't have done that before I subscribed to this channel. thanks for that Dave and camera lady 👍
You really do have your balfouri breeding to a T, Dave. Lots of babies in those 3 enclosures. No doubt the one that's expecting will be just as good. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
another fine educational video from the BEASTIE ROOM point of view PROFF. some great tips for the hobby and for viewers to try breeding their spiders. great work CAMERA LADY, many thanks guys and take care.

This is one of those old world spiders I really want. They have such gorgeous coloring. You are a wealth of information on so many different spiders! I'm so glad I found your channel. If you had to pick one or the other, what would be your preference when it comes to these guys: singles or a communal? I'm going back and forth on whether I want to get just the one or actually put together a communal when I decide to finally get this species.
It all depends on what you want to do with them ? for breeding I prefer to keep them as singles but if you want a cool display for webbing then a communal id cool ❤️👍
Will we get to see the slings soon? I love your videos you make things so much easier your explanations are so simple to follow, I always feel like an expert after watching your videos! 😂. Are Balfouris a spider for beginners ? I always think they are for experts another fantastic video packed with information, thank you for Sharing your knowledge and your sense of humour! ❤
I love Dave's presentation style - it's so much better than the 'documentary' type of videos. This way, he gets his serious points across, without making everything so 'clinical'. Keeping things light-hearted - is also good for holding the interest of the younger 'viewers of UA-cam.
Lovely Vid Dave. I have two communal (5+6) with the spiders around the inch body size. Am thinking about joining them in a bigger set up. Are they in your learned opinion, still at a malleable age, in terms of adapting to new communal partners? Thank you
Yes they will mix together but you will have to make a new enclosure and put them all together at the same time , theres always a risk but generally if given new surroundings they are ok 👍
Hi Dave and camera lady, could you do a video on how the eggs with legs that were in the 50/50 sacks. The ones where you had some infertile eggs and some that were going bad. It would be good to see how they are doing now. Very interesting and informative ,thanks for sharing your knowledge as you do it so well. X
Not a huge fan of this species, as it comes to close to my phobia, but I can at least appreciate them through your eyes. But, if you don’t mind, would you please put the top back on the lady’s nursery? Lol.
Very interesting! Is there generally any problem with pairing spiders from the same sac?? It's got to be a challenge to get the males and females matured at the same time, but just wondering! Thanks, Dave!
Weirdly... although the classic 'women are afraid of spiders' mantra is thrown around a LOT - In my 35+ years of herpetology, I've found that there are far more female tarantula-keepers than there are males ! At least here in the UK anyway,
Great video Dave as allways👍Now I have a question for you, As you know I’ve kept Balfouri for quite some time now, Having a good number of big communes but to date I’ve never been interested in breeding them till now, All those small exos I had of you I’ve set up like yours I have 4 xAF and 4 xAM they have been in there own enclosure for nearly 3 months as I wanted to give them time to settle,I’ve made notes on any of the female,s molting , But to date none of the males have made sperm webs!!! Can you shine any light on this so to speak??. Kind regards Andy BT
Hi Dave. i had a question can i put 7 litel Monocentropus balfouri with a big Monocentropus balfouri can they live together or the big female Monocentropus balfouri will kill the litel ones ?
Dave i have L4 Balfouri and it refuses to molt. She has giantic abdomen and it's been like this for half a year. Am worried about her. May it be the lack of heat in the terrarium?
Hi Dave. I’ve noticed on some of your videos you mention that you sell slings from your breeding. Do you have a website or anything where I can purchase from you?
hello again Dave. quick question again. with all of your breeding of spiders.. how do you get "rid" of them all? i'm starting a communial of Balfouri's with 10 slings in a cupple of day's, and are allready terrified of getting a eggsack in it in a cupple of years once they get mature. i'm from Norway, and the Tarantula hobby isn't that big from what i can tell. what the heck should i do if my comunial produces a sack sucsessfully? is it ok to ship overseas?
Just saw another video, where the (single-kept) balfouri dropped the eggsack at the very front of the enclosure and then sealed herself away in her burrow in the back, did you ever witnessed a behaviour like this in your balfouris?
These are not only one of the most prettiest T's but also display interesting behavior.
Great comments on the thermostats, Dave.

No issues with spiders and the males always mature first and we just remove them as they appear 👍
Lovely video, Dave, thank you! Now, I don't intend to breed these, but is it okay to keep just one? Or should I get two confirmed females?
Yes, absolutely one on its own is fine 👍

The males tend to destroy their sperm webs straight after often only leaving a strand of silk 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties So do you just pair them anyway and just hope for the best,Or do you do nothing till 100% sure you have a sperm web???BT
@@balforitown4274 I would just pair them he will be ready 👍
Should you keep balfouri communioully or by themselves? Which is better?
For breeding I keep my females separate , but as a display a communal is great 👍
I would like ask, what should i use as substrate for Balfouri? I got little confused by this 😟
I use regular potting compost mixed with some coco fibre
Thabk you very much 😊
the "experts" on arachnoboards unkindly told me any communal is impossible.
