Worked great on my 09 Explorer. Got the tool for like $25 and all 4 sensors for $200. Spent $225 vs $400+. So I’m very happy to have saved $175+.
Thanks!!
its about 7 years after this video was posted, but it just helped me out! ordered some new wheels and tires for my F150. the website suggested i purchase that tool, but it didnt give any instructions for it so i didnt purchase one. was gonna just have a shop do it, but now i can buy the tool and i dont have to pay the shop fee and whatever labor they'd charge to do a 5 minute job.
Tool worked perfectly.
Bought it on E Bay for $13
Thank you as always
Got mine for $15 1 year later. Damn inflation
This Tool worked perfectly for my 2010 Ford Fusion 👌...this guy is right on the money when it comes to Fords, I hold on to his every word, especially since I'm a Ford man!
I just tried it with my 2010 ford fusion and the tool i bought didnt train anything. I dont have that relearn tool. I have one that says EL-50449
This guy is the Goat of Ford I love how he explains what he is doing I love seing your videos I hope you never stop
Man, I can't thank you enough for helping us out. I just did exactly what you instructed and it never felt so good like getting that stupid light of my dashboard cluster. Thanks again
I bought this tool 8 years ago and never used it. Your instructions were spot on and worked great to reset my TPMS error after swapping wheels thank you!
for which vehicle
Excellent video. Bought the sensor tool 3 years ago after seeing this video but didn't have to use it until this morning. Worked perfectly.
I am truly greatful to you sir. I just programmed my tpms to my 2010 F150 FX4 5.4L. Worked like a charm.
May God richly bless you with health, wisdom and more knowledge even to know about the Creator of the universe.
I was about to return some new sensors in my aftermarket wheels until I watched this. Turns out the air pressure method is for sensors already synced. This method worked great to sync my new sensors. Thanks man!
I change my winter and summer tires/ wheels over twice yearly and reprogram the sensors each time of course.I am impressed that the original wheel sensors on my 2009 F150 still work 15 years later.
Really old video, but as valuable today as it was when you first posted it. Ditto for the 5.4 plug removal video. Thorough, concise, and well laid out. The links to the right parts are an added bonus. Thanks!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I took my 2010 F-150 to the shop to install the new TPMS sensors I purchased and they still couldn't get the warning light to go out. Thankfully, I remembered your video and I have the TPMS transmitter, so I used your method to reprogram the sensors and it worked like a charm!
I have the same year Ford F150 and a tire pressure fault light came on the dash and I took it to a mechanic and they replaced 2 bad sensors but they could not get the warning light to go off. Its annoying seeing that light. So all I have to do is buy the transmitter in the above link and go through the process in the video? Thanks!
First guy to actually give good information and get to the point.
Hey I've got a 2009 f150 and did the relearn trick you showed but didn't need to use the relearn tool. Just let the air out for like 5-10 seconds once your in relearn mode. Worked like a charm. My tire shop here couldn't figure it out. Thank you for this video. Super easy to do. I love when ford does stuff like this to make it easy. I wish they had a manual that showed you all the things you can program by turning a key. 🤣
Which model do you have? I have the same 09 f-150 and letting air out not working for me, not sure if I’m missing something
Dude you're a lifesaver. After trying the hazard light version of tpms learn mode (which wouldn't work no matter how many times I tried) your version of key cycles totally worked on my 17 RS! Thank you!!!!
This is also how you clear the TPMS "error" as well. Just program each wheel as shown and you will no longer have the error on your instrument cluster.
do you know if chevys have the same procedural fixes like the release air method? like 09 chevy traverse a friend of mine has the message displayed on IC display and a -- displayed on RR side in the information mode on displayed panel
@@darrenbryant9277 I don't know
I bought that tool from a Ford dealership and it worked great. Just like you said. Thanks so much.
Thank you for the video, I tried the process with a different relearn tool and it wasn’t working so I got the little grey one instead and it worked perfectly this time, much appreciated
I just received my reset tool today from Amazon. I paid $9. Hopefully it works tomorrow for my 2011 Ford Escape.
May God bless you!
That's all I can whish for someone who sincerely teaches others!
Thank you sir. Got the sensor error after rotating the tires on my 2012 Lincoln MKZ and this procedure probably took me no more than 3 minutes. Super simple.
Thanks VERY much for this, it cleared up 2 problems I was having:
1. The button on the (TPMS-19-8C2Z-1A203-A Transmitter) tool is pressed and released
( as in clicked, I was holding the button down.)
2. To enter training mode, I was being too slow on brake pedal/cycling the ignition key.
(2010 Ford Ranger)
Worked perfect on my 2009 E350 Econoline.
When I turned key 3 times. I accidentally turned key to the off position the third twist. After watching your video 2nd time. I noticed my mistake. Wouldn’t work at first.
Re did procedure and worked great. Ty Ty.
It worked on a 2008 Escape and the sensors were opposite the valve stem on this model. Thanks!
When I bought new tires at Discount Tires, they reset the air sensors free after correct pressure for each tire.
This works
Also you can turn the key on or push button without stepping on the brake
Push the hazard lights 3 times in a row that will put it in tps learn mode
I think it's more simpler
I keep that tps learn remote in my glove box for when I rotate my tires
This does work. Confirmed on our 2015 mustang.
Totally worked on my Lincoln MKX . Can't thank you enough. After more than a year light is gone and stayed off.
Thank you ☺️
I just recieved my TPMS tool in the mail today and it worked like a charm.
You are the one who understands the explanation the most, thank you
This worked on my 2022 F-150 Raptor after nothing else would, including the hazards 3x method. Thanks!
just had new tires & sensors on my 2011 escape. got the tool off amazon for $13 and it took literally 1 minute to train them.
On a Ford Fusion you can put it into training mode by hitting the hazard button 6x.
I have one of the low dollar TPMS reprogrammer transmitters. It is the orange one that is as cheap as $10. It works for the first 3 tires but the 4th one doesn't do anything and the training mode isn't completed. I have to get a replacement sensor for this wheel.
What I'm not sure about is the electronic tool I need. From other videos it seems like you have to program the new sensor with a code for your particular year/make/model sensor. This is a more expensive tool with a screen and you select your car.
Thank you for the video sir. Question for you. I have a 2009 F250 Harley Edition and the tire sensors are causing faults. If I fill the tires up to the correct pressure, the fault still comes on the dash after starting. You mentioned the batteries might be dead in them. What is the best way to replace these without going to Ford for parts? Do I need to replace them or get something else offered online. Thanks so much. Ray Kaz
My rear passenger tire band style TPMS is dead wont beep. But your process is perfect and I know which sensor needs new battery. Well I should have them replace all.
Worked great on my 2010 Mercury Mariner. The tool was only $28 when I bought it on Amazon April 2019.
I was having an issue with my "low tire pressure" error symbol on my 2012 Fusion coming on my dash. Without buying ANY special tools I simply ensured that the tire pressure on all four tires was spot on INCLUDING the spare, DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE SPARE. I then pressed the HAZARD button on then off THREE times and before I could get out of my driveway the horn beeped and magically the error symbol went off and hasn't come back. Remember: if you have any appreciable miles on your vehicle you like I have gone through several sets of tires which means your TPMS wheel sensors have probably long ago been discarded by some tire tech. I suspect it was low pressure on the spare that was causing the error code. Good luck!
Thank you, the detailed run through of the training mode button combination was exactly what I needed!
2010 Escape with 141K miles the original TPMS units have been dead over a year and was replacing new Michelin tires last Christmas along with ordered new replacement Motorcraft 9L3Z-1A189-A TPMS sensors, they are the real deal not clones.
Also ordered the Super EL50448 (2 in 1 TPMS Relearn Tool). Medical issue wifes hip (her Escape parked) two months hence delayed before the TPMS Relearn Tool applied) with app 140 miles driven to hospital and post surgery checkups before relearning tool applied.
Tire pressure at 32 psi following this video, I get a dash instuction to learn left front tire. With the Relearn Tool and 6 to 10 cycled power on button I get two car horn beeps, the dash showing TPMS Failure. These are brand new Motorcraft TPMS sensors.
I read to drive and within 30 minutes to recheck before the TPMS sensors shut down to save the batteries. Same failed results even after airing up to 38 psi.
Do I have to air down all four to 20 psi then back up to 32 psi (Ford spec psi) then check again with relearning the TPMS sensors? New battery 9.6 volts meter tested. PLEASE HELP! THX.
Awesome video. I have used the tool before and it always works. Thanks for the information about lowering the tire pressure. Never heard of that before.
Thanks so much for your video, I have ford ranger 2009 which often turn on the tires light on the when I drive long on highway, I just followed your to reset them. Hope they wont turn on again when I drive long way
Thanks I just received my relearn tool and went outside and was able to my new sensors working just fine. Thank you again.
as a self-teaching, Learning "Mechanic In Training" I can honestly say your videos have helped me with my Fords and sometimes even transfer the knowledge onto other brands of vehicles that my friends have me service.. I know your strictly a Ford Guru to say the least, but My customer has a 2009 chevy traverse with one TPMS Sensor not reading its the back right one as the Traverse will show TP on the instrument cluster in Information Mode.. it will display it as Rear Right: -- and have the warning check service TPMS.. this car is how i first learned how to reset the Sensors and that theres an exact procedure to ensure it registers as 1..2...3..4.. LF...RF...RR..LR.. But do u know if the air release method would work on a 09 chevy since you said that was about when the F150s started popping up around 09 as well.? tried to borrow the tool from local "o'rielys" where half the people working there are high school afficianados who im pretty sure dont own a car or even know what a car is.. but this one kid started looking on this laminated piece of paper after i asked if they loaned the relearn tool, and he only looked at one side of the paper and told me no and im not even sure if he knew what the tool was tbh. thanks
FordTechMakuloco your videos have been essential in troubleshooting my 2009 Escape.
My Escape was manufactured 06/09 and the hazards method does work on mine.
The back left tire has been producing a fault after rotation and appears to be reading at least 2 psi low through ODBII. I ordered the TPMS19 to see if that will set it properly.
Great video. I have to watch it twice a year when I swap winter tires in and out. I can newer remember the key and brake pedal sequences
Thank you for this video. It was very helpful in resetting all TPMS on my 2017 FocusRS.
Thank you sir, this saved me so much time and money. This device here in Canada from Ford company is $95.00. It worked. thanks.
I've got an 09' Escape, I bought pre-programmed sensors but everyone in the reviews section say to buy that relearning tool. So I did. Thought I would just go out & try to see if I can get any of the tires to honk while in learning mode but nothing. Now Amazon doesn't show this tool I just bought. Think it was a tad cheaper but looks identical to the one in this video & says it's for my 09' Ford Escape. I just want that TMPS light & warning alert to go away. Gonna have the new sensors installed tomorrow for $125
Thanks - worked on my Ford 2011 SuperDuty. I rotated the tires mid-summer and the light just came on a few weeks ago.
Love the teacher easy to fallowing the instructions step by step easy
Here in New York, four aftermarket sensors installed and configured will set you back $850 at an independent garage and $2700 at the dealer. Better learn to do it yourself!
Reset TPMS on my 2022 Ford Maverick to a lower psi. Thanks for the spot-on info.
I have a 2012 f350 also a 2014 f350 and I hate whenever I rotate tires the light comes on. Will this tool help me relearn sensor locations so the light will go off.
When should you train the tpms? When the tires are cold or after you finished driving on them?
Just purchased some tires and rims together from a 2015 Ford f-150. I have a 2014 ford F-150 do I need to change the tpms in the 2015 tires for my truck? Great video and good information
Worked great on my 05 Aviator. I used the let air out technique with dorman sensors. Thanks for the help.
What about the spare
@@L701_TB my spare didn't have a sensor
Thank you. Easy and well explained. Thanks for the step by step instructions.
Does the air release method work when installing a brand new TPMS sensor? I have a 2013 Ford focus
He didn't know the answer? This guy doesn't seem to know the answer to most questions.
Awesome thanks, i ordered that little tool a few days ago and now i know how to use it once it arrives.
Dam, your videos are the best. I honestly would love to apprentice under you. I've had my 2010 Edge for less then a year and so far you've helped me with the dreaded water pump replacement (that was fun😁), axel seal replacements, and now this. Turns out my sensors were the ones 180 deg from the stem.
Honestly thanks for all the help.👍
Great video, thank you. My question is: I’ve got a 2017 F250. I just want to get rid of the dash tire low warning light (I trained the tpms already, that’s how I know what tire was low). I had a low tire and I put air into it but the light remained on. Thanks for your videos.
Hello, great video. I have a 2013 Ford Edge SEL. Yesterday I just turn the engine on to drive and the error of 'faulty sensor' appeared. I don't know if this happens a lot or not in this SUV model. I will try your 'let the air out' procedure before buying the sensor training tool. Thanks a lot for your video.
Excellent video. Question. I have a 2014 and I just purchased a used genuine set of wheels from a 2015 F150 with tpms. They were on my friends F150 but How do I get them programmed on my 2014 as it’s the previous generation ? I hope it’s compatible.
I have one sensor that is not responding knowing that it is working. What is the solution?
I have 24x14's on 2015 f250 and yes with the training tool this did work but I had to place the device closer to the TPMS sensor and not through the Valve stem on the Wheel! it didnt activate the device when placed anywhere around the valve stem, my guess is too much metal
Question, will a 2012 Ford Eacape XLT with the 3.0 (if that matters) be able to learn two sets of TPMS?
I have the factory wheels with 3 season tires on them and the factory TPMS, and bought a spare set of identical factory rims with snow/ice tires and no TPMS.
I bought 4 new TPMS from ford to have installed in the winter wheels, but once I program them, will the car forget the other ones?
Or will it remember Both sets of TPMS?
I have a 2011 explorer with 250,000 miles
Can the battery be changed on the sensor or are they just replaced?
I hear they run about 150.00 a piece ( Not an option)
Is there a way to disable it?
Thank you for your video’s
PS Nice RC Truck in background.
good video 'if i have spare tire with censor in and the ones on truck dont have 'will this leave light on dash
What if I can’t get the last one to beep so the programming is finish? Thanks in advance. Ps show us more cool tips like this
FordTechMaculoco I have a 2011 Ford Expedition e l. Does it have the capability of telling me what the individual tire pressures are? The diagnostic engineering menu does not show individual tire pressures. Are the tpms sensors actually a sensor that can read varying pressures? Or are they switches that can only tell above or below a certain pressure limit? Seems stupid you can't read individual tire pressure or even which tire is low.
I tried the tool and it doesn't work. Any ideas?
Today I had to train my wheel sensors on a 2010 Ford Expedition, drove around for 3 or 4 minutes at 25-30 mph.
Stopped, put. Vehicle in park, turned the ignition switch on , pushed the flasher button 3 times within about 10 sec., repeated same procedure second time & screen said “ train your driver side front tire. Let air out for about 10 sec. & horn sounded one time. Screen said to train right front tire, ditto for the remaining back tires. Replaced the air in all four tires and light is out., no problems.
I SAW YOUR 3 VIDEOS WITH INSTRUMENT, MAGNET AND PENCIL FOR CLIBRATING THE TPMS ON FORDS, I HAVE A 2009 EXPLORER , MY QUESTION ARE ,DO THE TIRES MUST HAVE THE RECOMENDED AIR PRESURE AT THE LEARNING PROCESS? AND WHAT METHOD DO YOU RECOMMEND ME OR IS THE BEST OR EASY FOR MY EXPLORER?
Early model Ford 2009. How do you determine WHICH sensor is no longer
transmitting? 10 years 150,000 miles. Tricky, hopefully only one sensor.
I just tried the deflation method on my 2010 Escape and it didn't work. I'll try getting the sensor training tool.
Thanks for that awesome info Loco
I had this problem on my 08 Explorer forever back window popping open also
I now have an 05 expedition which is giving me the same two problems 😕
I’m going to order the old-style sensor and see if I can figure the tire problem out
How do you get a 2018 Ford Expedition with push button start into programming mode? Is there a training tool for that model? Thanks!
good info on TPMS. Are you still fixing Fords across the country or retired for the winter?
If your Ford vehicle has push button start how do you get it into train mode?
I purchased a Trailer-Mounted Trailer Camera - Camera With Tire Pressure Monitoring System from Ford accessories which came with 4 TPMS sensors. I have a three axle trailer. Can I add two more sensors and will it work with the Ford system to read six TPMS modules instead of four.
I have that tool (for my 2009 Explorer) with the green button and it worked on all but one. The Left front tire. Does it mean I need to put a new sensor in it ?
Mr.FTMYL I have a 2021 f150 that had cast aluminum wheels that were 17in. and bought 18 in. chrome wheels from another f150 and now it says ' tire pressure monitor fault ' will this training tool work for me to correct the problem . Thank you . I tried both these procedures without any success .
2010 ford fusion se. Trying to see can do the let tire out method on it so I don't have to buy the tool if not then I'll buy the tool 4 years of seeing it pop up as soon as I stick the key in is enough.
Out of curiosity, how did the air bleed method work for ya? I have the exact same car with the same problem and I'd like to give it a try
@@xRENEGADExXxNINJAx honestly i have not tried to do it yet. so now im going on 6 years haha. i have gotten so used to just pressing info button to turn it off. im scared if i fix it my car will die. i replaced the pads 8 months back right before my honeymoon and driving to Yellowstone the ac froze over and it started snowing so i lost sll heater controls. i do need to try the tire thing. i got side tracked
I gave it a shot. The air method did not work. I'll need to get the tool lol. Thanks though lol
@@xRENEGADExXxNINJAx dang. alright well Amazon is still open so i guess ill have to add the tool to it and maybe some new sensors as well
Hi sir ! I have a 2010 Ford ranger. I replaced all tpms sensor (new) and i have the same tools like you. The horn not beep when i take your procedure...Do you help me ? Thanks for return !!😃😃
What is the starting pressure? and what is the final reset pressure. What about colder climates where temps can go to extremes. I have not been able to find one explanation for these questions.
Can I enter all the IDs into a bidirectional scanner? I have an Autel.
Does this tool reprogram the TPMS module or simply reset it? I.e., if I put lower pressure tires (44psi) on my van in the front than on the back (80psi LT), will this reprogram and turn off the dash warning light?
What if -- the horn on my Explorer XLT 2007 does NOT sound after the initial activation process (brake on/off, 3 times ignition on/off, etc.) ??? What to do then ? I cannot turn to a Ford dealer b/c there are no qualified Ford dealers here in Austria/Europe with respect to Explorers, Expeditions ect. (never imported and sold here).
Will this tool and procedure work for a 2010 Escape ? Thanks !
Great video thanks. Is there any way to reset sensor to a lower pressure. I have an e150 2014 and the manufacturer rear pressure is 80 psi. 99.9% of the time I carry 2 toddlers in the back and that’s it. The rear seats are removed as well. Needless to say it’s pretty stiff back there. It’s much smoother when I deflate to about 65. But then I have to look at that tpms light. Also my last set of tires had center wear indicative of higher pressure. Thoughts?
We were trying to use the method of hazard switch on/off 3 times, put it in training mode on 2010 Ford Focus, it would train the tires on the vehicle currently, this method would not accept a new/replacement sensor, is the hazard switch method for tire rotations relearn only? When we used the method you demonstrated the vehicle accepted the new sensor very quickly, we were surprised that the training modes were different in allowing new sensors to not be added vs. adding a replacement sensor without any issues! Can you enlighten us? Thanks as always for your quality videos and demos. This is for our Ford Focus fleet at work. Frank
+Frank Menz I have only seen the hazards methods use on new vehicle check in to remove them from transport mode
Even if your ford has the deflation feature, the remote makes tire rotations faster and easier by far. I spent about $40, and I don’t have buyers remorse ☺️
It this works only with OEM sensor or can be used for aftermarket tpms sensor?
Dealership is telling me that the Ford TPMS for 2017 Explorer XLT is DIFFERENT than previous years and therefore they must
replace the ones in my snow tires (at $97.00 each). Are the 2017 tpms different ?? Snow tires were removed from a 2013/14/15 Ford Explorer and purchased used - not sure of the year. Cheers Al
They are both 315MHZ but the part number changed mid year 2015 to the 2017 part number. Have you tried this tool to program them?
Nope, not yet but that will be the next step. First thing that I noticed today is that the air in the tires was low, tech either did not put the correct amount in or his measuring device is wanky. The tires are virtually new i.e no leaks. Thanks for the help - will try the next step! Cheers Al
Can confirm, this procedure in combination with the TPMS tool works for 2017 Ford Explorer XLT. Changed out the (dealer installed) winter wheels myself and trained the stock wheels back to the vehicle. The "let some air out of each tire" re-training procedure did not work, as the wheels needed to be re-introduced to the vehicle. I guess the vehicle is able to only remember one set of wheels at a time, somewhat of a disappointment but now I know and I have the remedy (i.e. this procedure and reset tool).
Good to know, my right rear tire has a fault and letting air out made my 2017 explorer XLT beep twice and tell me to retrain. I suppose I'll have to get this and skip taking it to the dealer
I have a 2010 Fusion. I bought this training tool and did the training. The "tire sensor fault" came back on. Should I try letting air out of the tires or is it something else? You give us great information with your videos and save us "lots" of money. Keep up the great work.
Do you remember what it ended up being? I have a 2010 fusion as well and just started getting the fault this week. I don't have any chargers or anything plugged in so I don't think it's RF frequency interruptions
@@stevenr7272did you get an answer? Lol
I wish it worked ! I have watched this video and others as well and it will just not work on my 2010 f150. I also tried the letting air out trick and all this accomplished was a flat tire ... sensor is bad maybe ?? I can't even try the others because my left front wont accept any training and after several attempts I just get an error on the dash telling me that training failed .
Putting newer Ford wheels with factory tpms on a 2008 Ford F-150, first of all will it work with factory module in the 08. Can’t seem to relearn the 08 with the tool you recommended or the modules different on the 09s and newer
Darrel - did you ever get this to work? If so, how? Thanks.
Never did get it to work. Put old rims on with new tires
This guy is the Goat of Ford I love how he explains what he is doing I love seing your videos I hope you never stop
Just bought new ones for my 2011 f-150. They will not respond to the tool and not when letting out air.
The guys at the tire shop said they could get them to “talk” but didn’t know hope to program them.
What could be the issue?
I have a 2013 Escape and the training tool in the video. My question is when you train the TPMS system is it at the desired pressure in the tire? I have two sets of tires with different desired pressures. My summers run at 51 psi max and my winters want 44psi max. Do I have to retrain the system each season? Thx Steve from Montreal
