Despite having only played Moviebattles II, I still found this video & your others highly entertaining and informative. These are damned good tutorials, man. Whenever I see gameplay of base multiplayer I never know what the heck is going on, but this definitely sheds some light on it.
Haha thanks man. The base game is still alive and kicking, you could always drop in and check it out sometime. Currently it's fairly active due to an ongoing 3v3 tournament. Once that concludes it will likely slow down for a bit again, that's kind of the cycle.
@@vladums I spent my whole childhood and half teenage years playing JKA, I remember playing the base game multiplayer, Movie Battles 2, KotF, ForceMod3 and RPG servers based on LugorMod damn these were my prime gaming years in terms of how much fun I had, I think I spent like 8 years playing this game, I believe i was in top players in 1v1 duels tho I never heard the names and methods you mention in the video tho, I remember the best and obviously abused method was using red style and swinging it from side to side while making tiny moves with your mouse very quickly in order to multiply the damage. glad to hear the game is still alive and it's fucking sad we never got another sequel and instead we got shitty games like Force Unleashed or Fallen Order ;_;
@@Boldo921 yeah it would seem we'll never get a proper sequel for it. Though, even if we did it would likely not be very good as is the way of modern gaming now lol. JKA has a very long history of competition, and I wasn't around in the old days, but if you played on the official ladders at all back then you'd be familiar with some of the people who still play the game today. Some people are insanely good at it now, after so many years competing.

Very helpful video. I was trying to teach my son to play and your video was the best tool thanks a ton. Reminds me of back in the day having landline battles with my friends back in high-school. I used a joystick and it made lightsaber battles too easy but so much fun. Never had mote fun playing against other people on any other game. Ever. Best lightsaber dueling game ever created. They need to make everything based off this games mechanics.

I just thought they "randomly" moved when attacking, and that's all. Even in the manual, it's like: "students can block and parry and bla bla" "Yeah but how" "idk"

It would be pretty sick. There is a command, if you're on PC. Open the console and put in /r_picmip 10 I think it was 10, anyway. It kinda makes the game look almost cartoony. Not perfect but its kinda fun to play on anyway.
Does this work differently in Single Player? I've been trying to apply these to Single Player and have not been getting consistent results. Maybe I'm just that bad, lol.

oh, that's the TFFA version of it. Umm I can't remember off the top of my head what the console command would be.. /model cw_fisto/red maybe? and /blue for blue ofc. Basically if you can find out what the model name is, just add a /red or /blue to the end and it should work.
Could you make a video about how do you(or just the game) knows who's gonna get through opponent's block, *stun* him and possibly deal damage? Me and my friend were just attacking the same way at the same block position and sometimes defender gets stunned and sometimes he doesn't, idk maybe there is some hidden stamina parameter or something : D
Swing power is determined by stance, timing, and speed, so you can help your odds by controlling those. Timing: Swing power ramps up throughout the beginning of the animation and back down throughout the end of the animation, so the strongest part is right in the middle of the swing. On a D swing this is typically right when it crosses in front of you. If your opponent is early/late in their swing animation and you're at the sweetspot of yours, you would likely have an advantage over them Speed: Strafing into your swing with your mouse & keys (i.e. strafing to the right on a D swing while turning your mouse right) gives you higher velocity and can also increase your swing's collision power compared to a slower moving opponent Generally though, you can never expect 100% consistency with collisions due to ping and certain code nuances. If you play at max range and hit with just the tip of your swing, you can react and dodge if you lose the parry battle

This is just the base game multiplayer, no mods. Also we dont really run drills or practice ever. Theres a public base server called base lounge, but activity these days is hit or miss. I dont really get on the game very often for quite awhile now myself
What is mouse one on controller? I play on console so your button expressions mean nothing. I have to just assume it's the attack button why can't you say attack? Or force power. Jump. See I didn't even need to say a button which makes it universal
Staff / duals / single are all viable if you put in the time. Single is the most popular by far these days I'd say, followed by staff. Not many people really "main" dualies anymore, but a number of people are capable of using them. It's one of the things I always liked about JKA though, you can use any saber you want to a high level. Just gotta put the time into them.

I do. This is playing on the eternal JKA client via steam. 80 tpr and 90 fov, 100 packets. I play on 250 fps most of the time, just cuz I have a 1440p 240hz monitor. My sensitivity I change basically whenever I'm bored, but lately I've been using 3000 dpi 12 sens, default yaw/pitch. I don't use any scripts as I consider that to be cheating, personally. Lemme know if there's something else you wanted to know about config wise, those are the big ones though, I guess xd

As for servers, if you dont have the eternal jka client I think you probably need that now to even see servers. Just Google eternal jka github and you'll find it. That said I'm not sure how active the game is atm, I havent played in awhile
@@vladums Looks to me like you would wreck it in no time, even on the highest difficulty. I have figured out how to outsmart (more or less lol) the AI but this is on a completely different level. And since this is only the basics, it means that I have a very shallow understanding of the game mechanics, despite beating the game dozens of times over the years. I always found saber duels so random but this explains why multiplayer is so popular, even in a 20-year-old game. It feels really weird, having spent 20 years with a game, only to realize it is way deeper in it's design than you could ever have imagined.
@@Sandlund93 haha yeah there's a surprising amount of depth to the combat in multiplayer, it's pretty crazy. And there are people who are WAY better at it than I am. I've played off and on since around 2018, but there's people who have played fairly consistently for the last like 10 years or more. Tournaments still go on semi-regularly as well, which are always cool to see.

Hey! How did you get the Kit Fisto with different colored shorts (such as Red and Blue). I only have the base model with brown shorts.
