Being an installer you should probably know better than to have all your metal tools directly on the wood floor. If it were me I would typically put a drop cloth down then probably a little bit of plywood or something to protect the floor from getting gouged by your utility knife. Hopefully you repaired that!

I must say u cant get much better finish product then this machine but having said that this machine is good if ur working by the hour and ur stairs/skirt are way out of square...lol..... best way to do this without taking way to long to a step( not ideal for me doing 4-6 stories buildings, getting paid piece work) would be getting ur square, checking both sides, usally pretty square but if not at least one side is square 9 out of 10 times., , write measurements front and back of step(riser if all in one style) and repeat next step.. once all done , go do all ur cuts , spread glue from top to bottom and install( glue get tacky sitting for 10 mins or so) roll weight

It's not a metal box. It's a Delrin plastic box made for cutting.

@@stevew3978 metal , plastic, it’s on a new floor. Being a general contractor in two states( hands on) I never put tools period on floors without some protection . Not trying to bust on you, but somewhere down the line it will bite you in the ass. First thing I or my installer do is protect the clients house, floor, baseboards from extension cords. Etc.

@@sphlouge And I applaud the steps you take to prevent damage to your clients' homes while working in them.

I've been doing stairs and trim for 15 years, this is way too much. Cool idea but WAY over- complicated, could have done multiple steps in that time with traditional methods.

The Treadman can cope with bows and curvatures. I bet your Collins stair jig can't.
