- Deck Nine recently posted a behind-the-scenes video showing Erika doing all the mocap for this scene. It also included her singing, this was replaced with mxmtoon in the final release so I wanted to make a video comparing the two just for fun.
I really like Erikas singing so I hope we get to see more of it in future behind-the-scenes vids.

i honestly really like both! they both fit well in different ways. im glad they went with mxmtoon’s version because, since shes a professional singer, she sounds and performs a bit better and is less pitchy. but with erika’s version its nice to hear alex sounds more distinctly like alex.
late fun fact i learned. erika mori did the performance capture of everyone in this scene. it was at the height of the pandemic so deck nine sent her a performance capture kit. she shot it all in her basement. saw the vid on twitter.

It's the fact they wanted to give her the semi angelic voice that you wouldn't expect from their natural voice
i like mxmtoon's singing voice better but i still enjoy erika as the official VA
erika mori sounds so much more natural idk mxmtoon's voice is too different from alex's
yeahh I think the switch between their voices is a little jarring since they sound so different. I think Blister in the Sun is okay but its sooooooo noticeable with Creep
I wonder why they didn’t use Erika’s voice originally though. It does indeed sound too different

I think mxmtoon’s voice maybe just sounds a little bit more polished. Maybe it’s for soundtracking reasons?
i think it was mainly for marketing reasons iirc, since MXM has a much bigger following
One is from a motion caption session the other is most likely captured in a studio and edited.
I like mxmtoon version and I think it’s better than Erika’s. Why? At the beginning of the scene Alex greatly shows that she don’t like public appearances on the stage (heck, she even admits it while discovering Haven and one of the leaflets hanged on the wall in the record store). While deciding to participate in the performance You can clearly hear that she’s not comfortable there. And as the song goes on she become more and more confident and her voice more flexible/articulate while getting encouraging looks from Steph. Next there is whispering-coquettish solo and final full-throttle final. That’s the proper presentation which gives the proper positive energy. The Erika’s original on the other hand would look kinda unnatural mainly because what I have mentioned above - You can’t amazingly show „full artistic yourself” when You are almost pushed on the stage where You have never been before… Respect for both ladies though.
I don't mind the Erika Mori version (ngl it sounds hotter) I just think you can tell who has better singing skill. So I understand what they were going for. I would prefer if you could switch between the two cause I would have loved to hear the Erika version in the game and had MXMToon do the more soundtrack stuff.
Alex’s lips flow better with Erika’s voice since she did the animation mocap for it I feel like it would have looked more convincing if mxmtoon did the mocap
Yeah, it feels like those movies that are in another language and are translated but the mouth movements are off
Makes sense to have a professional singer as in some of the endings she looks to build a music career
mxmtoon when she whispers in the mic the beat stops and when it starts again is my fav part
i LOVE mxmtoon but erika is better imo 😭 i love how she sounds and it sounds so natural
Both are great but I prefer Erika actually and I wish they'd used her voice instead. Thank you for the great comparison also
I've heard somewhere, tho I'm not sure it is true that they edited mxmtoon's voice to sound more like Erika's.

From what I understood and knew, mxmtoon was Alex's voice actress, but I didn't know that Erika Mori was also the one who did the motion capture and who only did the voice? mxmtoon didn't do alex completely? motion capture voice and music?
mxmtoon only did the singing voice, so only for Creep and Blister. she even says so in the promo vids when the game launched.
no, it's quite the opposite, Erika made Alex completely (motion capture acting and voice), mxmtoon only did the singing voice (Creep and Blister).
