Train fare between Eranakulam and Kanyakumari:
1. Sleeper class: Rs. 210.00
2. 3A (3rd AC): Rs. 560.00
3. 2A (2nd AC): Rs. 795.00
4. 1A (1st AC): Rs. 1315.00
Time taken to cover between Eranakulam and Kanyakumari: 7 hours 50 minutes (scheduled duration). It has actually taken 8 hours to cover the distance.
How was the food served in train?
We bought breakfast from a local vendor. It was just satisfactory (I would give 3.5 points out of 5)
We had ordered egg biriyani online and they served it at Trivandrum Central Railway Station. The food was below my expectations. They charged Rs. 200 per egg biriyani and it was much like ghee rice and two boiled eggs. (I would give 3 points out of 5 for this food).

Island Express is Super Crawler inside Kerala, it got stops almost every where.... they have speeded up from Kottayam to Trivandrum Strech, now it reaches Trivandrum by 12 pm, earlier time was 12.45 pm.... You could have opted for food from Kollam Station , you will get some good Biriyani's from there... it stops bit longer there , because of the crew change....
