    So a buddy in my unit has been trying to make a 6 AC/2 build work on a Dire Wolf (or Dashi as he likes to call them) and I think you have just saved us hours of tweaking and theory crafting. This is so insane I might have to try as well. Awesome video dude please keep pumping out the mech porn.
    Side note: I'm sad you are not going to run timbers on your other account. I run them and was exited to see what a capable pilot like yourself could do with one. That said the sale is a sale, and 5 million in savings is huge so I can understand. Oh and I picked up my first Stormcrow because of how kick ass you make them look, I just need to remember they are not as tanky as my timber.

      +pablo4952 Just for a little info on the canon, Dire Wolves were nicknamed Daishi (Japanese for "great death") by the Draconis Combine, which you may know better by the dominant house, Kurita, due to its large size and 55 tons of podspace for weapons.

    To all the folks saying that using this macro is cheating: you can get the exact same results with the standard controls. Assign each gun to a group, then hold each group's fire button. Just delay slightly between starting the hold on each button. The guns can't fire any faster using a macro than they can using normal controls.
    Source: Used this method with three mouse buttons on my Victor in the old days.

    You can create this "minigun" without a macro for such a weapon setup - just fire the first three shots manually at the desired tempo and then hold down the fire button assigned to 3 guns at once, it will maintain that tempo. For example, assign a chainfire of three guns to the RMB, then do not hold the RMB, but quickly click 3 times to set the desired tempo, then immediately hold the LMB (to which you previously assigned fire from three guns, but without chainfire)

    I do this on my King Crab. The 6 AC2's get a bit toasty, but the DPS is good, with or without the macro. Plus, people tend to run from that barrage to their faces. It pushes more DPS than the UAC5's too, but with a bit less burst.

    to all the people, it isn't a cheat. it should be firing at that speed in the first place just that they fucked up chain-fire. it would have been acceptable if you could just rapidly click and fire the next weapon in the group, but nope consistant .5 cooldown.

    Nice video covering the basics.
    I hope you don't mind, I embedded it at the end of the first post in the Fire Control thread on the MWO forums.
    It's so sad that some people still consider this cheating, when the fact of the matter is that if everyone were using chain fire, MWO would be a better game.
    When PGI implemented Ghost Heat, they were in effect trying to make people move from alpha to chain, because single point damage was a balance issue.
    But without a decent implementation for chain fire (Which FC sought to rectify), this was never going to work, plus the changes (At least as far as the AC2 was concerned) actually made things worse for chain fire (You could hit GH with 2xAC2 in chain, but not in alpha)
    Plus even when you forget about GH, alpha is just more efficient when playing peek-a-boo: With 4 weapons that shoot at a 1000ms rate, if you poke out and fire in chain, you have to expose yourself much longer (Instant 4 shots vs shoot, wait 250ms, shoot, wait 250ms...) to get all your shots off.
    If in full view of your target, the "face time" required to use chain just makes it fundamentally inferior to a mech that can shoot off all it's weapons, then twist off the damage to an arm while their weapons reload - you will be blazing away at his arm, while he reloads and then easily pops another alpha into your CT because you are holding your view steady and not presenting a moving target.
    So Kanajashi has it spot on - this is for Lulz only. It is not useful in competitive play. Any half-decent opponent will know how to counter chained ballistics.

    If you ever do an updated release of this video please let people know that they can do a fastfire technique by hand just as fast without using a macro if they practice. I can see where the macro would be useful for other things like the tag toggle or firing different weapon sets but when you're using a pure 1 main weapon build you shouldn't have to rely on a macro you're not allowed to go into competition with.

    I would guess that chainfire-ing the AC2 with the program and binding all the AC2 to the left click would result in the same DPS, right?

    • @Kanajashi
      @Kanajashi  7 років тому

      Yeah exactly the same DPS. The game won't let you fire them any faster, the program just spaces them out equally for you.

    I tried something different by useing 3 AC2 and putting them in different groups. First and second in group 1, in the second group i put the third AND the second. Now i have to hit 2 buttons, but i fire 2-1-2-1 and so on now.
    It´s faster than the normal chainfire and does not require external software to go with.
    Still required multiple mouse buttons, though.

    I have 2 questions regarding macros with this:
    1) If I right-click and it is bound to 3-4-5-6, and I only hold it long enough for 3-4 to go off, will it continue for 5-6, or will it stop at that point? If it stops, when I start it up again, will it start at 3 again, or will it start at 5 (where the last one stopped)?
    2) If you have the TAG toggled, will it interfere with chat? So if I toggle 6 on, and then I hit my chat button, is it going to put "6666666666666" into my chat?

    • @Kanajashi
      @Kanajashi  7 років тому

      1) It will pick up where it left off
      2) It will not interfere, although you may have to re-toggle it. That happens to be when i open my map.

  • @CGCEifel
    @CGCEifel 8 років тому

    Well, i tried it on the Shadowhawk (3x AC2) and BJ (2xAC2). I must admit, i feel a bit dirty about it. Sure, it's only chainfire and firing all at once isn't affected. But you definitely have a supressive advantage. It's a personal decision, if it really is not officially cheating, well, so be it. But, imagine a 6x AC2 build like this... oh boy. I like the perma- TAG, no Problem with that. You should be able to set it on toggle/hold in game anyway, imho. Keep up the great work and thanks, Kanajashi.

  • @WARCALIPTOLF
    @WARCALIPTOLF 8 років тому +1

    I'm amused how many people are too stuffed up to realize it's not an advantage to use macros. The only solid one ever is the UAC jam timing macro, that's it. You're not avoiding ghost heat if it's below the .5 seconds and guess what you could just rapidly click ANYWAY. I don't have a dire wolf and don't plan on one either. So this is largely not useful to me. There should be a separate disclaimer video with quoted proof from the forums about why specific uses are not cheating. Especially tag toggle and the proper chain fire.

    I have one question after watching the video, and that is... what is the interaction like with Ultra ACs?It was an interesting video Kanajashi. I'm of two minds on it. One, it seems PGI is ok with these macros, so I guess it is ok to use them... but, it seems rather sad that outside programs are creeping into the game, leaving players without this knowledge, like myself previous to viewing this option, effectively in the dark and at a disadvantage. Two, it may be the same dps as alpha striking, but equip a friendly unit with 4 AC/2s and then get in the training grounds and show us the business end of that macro use from the cockpit. I'm sure the cockpit shake and blast animations more than compensate for your face time with the enemy, Kanajashi. That more or less spells out why I'd have a problem with the use of this macro.

      You are much better off with UAC5s if you are running a clan UAC boat. if you're running a Dire, just go 4xUAC10 for a classic gigawhale. Avoid UAC20 unless you are doing some kind of brawler, and never try carrying 2 unless you love ghost heat.
      I'm surprised to see all the new steam players not digging up the billion or so old builds the meta created over the years...

      I would have assumed to just divide cooldown by the number of guns (AC/2, cooldown of 0.72sec --> 3 guns = 240ms, 4 guns = 180ms and so on, adjust for perks)

    Ahm .. this is pretty old news, people have been doing this for 2+ years on MWO now. And still do. It's pretty common knowledge. PGI's stance is that it's not illigal . Sure it sucks if you come across a dakka-mech like that, but just flank, don't get singled out and shoot those torso's. These days the meta is more laser vomit builds, especially in faction wars where ranged lasers are predominantly boated.

    i have my fire groups bound so 1 fires two er meds, 2 is blank, and 3,4,5,6 fire my uacs. my delay is 83 and the fire sequence is 3,4,5,6. it just comes out really slow though.
    i remember when i had it set up before i had it so ctrl would toggle my double tap of the uacs. i think this is change fire rate in the program, but hitting it doesn't do anything to my rate of fire anymore.
    i also tried just using normal, non-ultra uac 2s, setting my delay to 155 as shown in this vid and using the exact same fire controls and sequence... but it comes out suuuuper slow.

    I think the reason PGI doesn't consider it as a cheat is probably that it makes the basic system simply work BETTER and not enhancing it in an illegal way.
    I still think it's a cheat even though i am using it as well. It practically doubles the firepower and usability of such builds and gives the player a clear advantage over someone who's not aware of it.

Even though my weapon groups are correct and the macro is correct the fire control randomly throws in double cannon shots which are then corrected if held. • @Brajuh
      @Brajuh 6 років тому

      it doesnt break the games physics.. if they wanted to make it so that macro fire didnt work they would simply make it so the speed at which they re rack is the same as chainfire. basically you can do the exact same thing hes doing with skill if you could press 3 4 5 6 again and again while playing then you to could fire they fast without and macros, besides basically all keyboards and mice come with macro buttons these days so basically the only reason you haven't gotten this is because you haven't tryed to get it. literally anyone can do this at any time so its not unfair. infact i have a TTESPORT challenger prime keyboard with 6 macro buttons on the side, im about to setup a chainfire macro with my keyboards software, not with the adhd program which again anyone can do.

    • @Kanajashi
      @Kanajashi  8 років тому

      +Andrious777 How many UAC5s? First thing to do separate each gun in to its own weapon group, then in the fire control add those into the firing sequence. For example if you have 4 guns and you set them to "3,4,5,6" with my fire binding being right mouse click.
      As for the timing we want to first take the cooldown of the weapon (for UAC5s is 1.66 seconds or 1660 milliseconds) then divide it by the amount of guns (so 1660 milliseconds divided by 4 = 415 milliseconds). So the default is 415 ms. Put that into the fire rate box and test in game.
      Then the last thing is to adjust it slightly, go into the testing grounds and hold down the button. Is it shooting nicely without jamming? lower the timing by 5-10ms and try again. Is it now jamming? raise it back 5-10ms until it's smooth again. This will vary depending on fast fire efficiency and quirks.
      And that's it, you are done and ready to kick ass.

      I'm tired of seeing people think this is anything more than a silly trick to make AC2s appear more useful than they are. They have always been relegated to the trash bin because AC5s outclass them in every way. The game has been all about laser vomit for the better part of 2 years, and PPC/Gauss jump sniping before that. PGI tries to change the meta, and the community just creates a slightly different one that equally pigeonholes gameplay.

    I successfully set up the 1,2,3,4,5,6 chain dakka for my KGC-000 with 6 AC/2s & it was fun, but you lose something by not being able to fire all 3 Left Arm ACs or all 3 Right Arm ACs together.
    I would love to set it up so that:
    1) Left Mouse fires 1,3,5 (all Left Arm ACs) with delay 0ms,
    2) Right Mouse fires 2,4,6 (all Right Arm ACs) with delay 0ms, &
    3) Middle Mouse fires 1,2,3,4,5,6 (all 6 ACs) with delay ~87ms for chainfire dakka with Fast Fire & -12.5% Cooldown module.
    In this way, we would have the best of all worlds: concentrated, side-specific fire when desired, & full frontal dakka autofire when things heat up.
    Does anybody know if this is possible?

    • @Kanajashi
      @Kanajashi  8 років тому

      +GM4ThePeople I dont think it's possible with the current program. Maybe there is something out there that can do it?

    • @GM4ThePeople
      @GM4ThePeople 8 років тому

      +Kanajashi (waves) Thx 4 reply. I thought I might be able to work around it by in MWO mapping each of the ACs to a weapons group from 1-6, then mapping the Left Mouse to fire weapons groups 1,3, & 5, & the Right Mouse to fire weapons groups 2,4, & 6.
      This, in tandem with the FireControl app ("FC") having mapped all 6 weapons groups to Middle Mouse as described above (#3), would have produced the desired results.
      The problem with this idea is that keymapping in MWO seems to be exclusively 1:1, not 1:n. So, if you have mapped Left Mouse to fire weapons group 1, & then map it to fire weapons group 3, it will no longer fire weapons group 1. No go.
      So the best practical advice I can give to sex-AC/2 King Crabbers is that FC is fun to try but will be detrimental to their game because it does not produce the desired flexible functionality.
      In practical terms, the best they can do to increase the suppressive effect of their dakka is to stagger pressing the buttons that fire their Left Arm weapons & their Right Arm weapons.
      The desired effect could certainly be achieved in an FC type app in which a profile maps _several_ MWO weapons groups over to several keys or mouse buttons with various effects (delays), however as I understand it, an FC profile only contains one "fire" button.
      I should add that I also experimented with keeping all LA ACs assigned to wg 1 & all RA ACs assigned to wg 2, as well as assigning 4 of those ACs to wgs 3,4,5, & 6. However, this failed to produce the desired autofire pattern in FC.

      I guess I´m in camp 2 as long as we are talking about relatively simple macros (like the TAG toggle or the AC/2 - chainfire macro shown in the vid). Hell, I´d even be fine with a Gauss-Charge up-fire macro, because it also gives some drawbacks (can´t keep from firing once you started it).
      If it were much more complex macros (like if you used it in Star Citizen for a complicated, evasive maneuver), that´d be another thing, especially if you didn´t create it yourself (it _would_ take skill to "program" that) but just copy/pasted it from somewhere.
      P.s.: Chat macros? What´s that? I mean, I used Voice Attack to put some generic greetings, thanks, requests in text chat in WoWs, because I really can´t be bothered to start typing while fighting, but with VOIP in MWO, that´s not really necessary.

      GlxyCmdt JasonTseng Jamming is just the nature of the beast and is always the risk that's run with UAC5 if you're going for maximum efficiency. I'd drop the macro in this case and try to manually do things, only double tapping to secure a kill rather than open up an engagement.

Spreading Damage is a bad thing, and even worse in comp play. That is also the reason why Lrm's aren't used in comp (spreading damage). Just and Fyi, this stuff has been around for YEARS, and even comp guys will use it just for fun in like solo queue, but would never consider using it in a serious business match.

      Even if all your shots hit, you would also be doing less damage with chain.
      If you have 4 weapons with a fire rate of 250ms, in chain it takes 1750ms to fire all of them twice, but in alpha it would take 250ms.
      So if you only have line of sight to an enemy for 250ms, you could land 4 shots in alpha, but only 1 shot in chain. Assuming all shots hit, that's 4x as much damage in alpha.

      For one, if you fire everything and then wait to cool down, your target will be able to shoot back at you. If you use the macro, they won't be able to aim for shit due to screen shake.
