  • With tackle prices soaring, we're always on the look out for a bargain to put to the test. The N'ZON range from Daiwa certainly fits in the affordable bracket but don't let that fool you. This tackle is well up for the Job! Tom Scholey and Dave Roberts put the N'ZON Super Slim 11' Feeder Rod and the N'ZON LT 5000CP reel through a work out at Meadowlands Fishery taming some UNITS in the process. Find out if these items have a place in your holdall...

Great review and comments. It has actually left more questions than answers. My main issue is that as I run a Angling Club with 16 members who between them have a bewildering variety of Feeder, Bomb and Waggler rods. Putting aside the Waggler rods I have looked at the results over the past few years when we have fished matches which have been mainly Rods and not Poles. The amazing fact is that the winners and placed Anglers were and are using anything from Budget rods to High value Rods. As i can see there was no real winner of which type or length rod ( 7 to 11ft) was actually the best. The only winner was that the owners of the high value rods spent more money to actually catch no more fish than the others. Happy New Year.

So much very good gear about these days, for less than a weeks wages, back in my day you'd spend whole week wages on top end rod etc

Had problem with mono line grinding with daiwa. Solved it with spooling braid on reel, but now i have reserve buying new stuff🤷🏻‍♂️

Great review Tom & Dave, tackle/hardware personal preference. It’s what you feel confident using. I have 100 quid rods and slighter higher under 200 and + lower end 75 quid. I can see the difference slightly with the progression of the rod. Diawa make great rods/reels and is a big fan 👍🏻👌🏻

Ive got the 11ft feeder rods and they are great to use. And I have had some big carp on them. Ive also got the 11ft Preston supera x rods which are quite a lot dearer but I wouldn't say that they are much better better.

unless you have every make including nytro rods you can not say that ,you would have to fish a different rod every week..nytro rods are not over priced with a go faster stripe on many anglers would pay double ,same with cars swap the badge double the price ,and people buy them,,

@@stephenisom6089 i have said that and sticking with it diawa make the best rods from matchman to airity just go and cast a diawa rod in same price bracket as other brand range and get back to me its all a matter of opinion you dont have to bye exspensive to get good rods as for nytro there new to the market in the commercial seen so would be silly to compare give them a few years diawa are tried and tested ive used there top end and budget range and they are flawless wouldnt use anyone else now after many years of using other brands that were crap JUST MY OPINION

I’ve got most of the N’Zon range quality gear as for calling it budget range id disagree unless you call £125 for a landing net handle at a budget price also n’zon luggage ain’t much cheaper than there tournament luggage

They have literally said it's budget in Daiwas case, where you can pay hundreds for rods. Quite easy to understand.

Wouldn’t buy another N’zon. My one (1-2 year old, the model with the blue band near the grip) has the dreaded ‘line-grind’ problem. Meaning that even reeling in a smallish fish, the line makes a grinding noise/vibration over the rings. Apparently due to the cheap non-lined aluminium oxide rings. This is a well documented issue (several review vids here on UA-cam mention it.
