During the month of May you have bass that are in a number of different phases. Some of post spawn, some are spawning and some are still waiting to go to their beds. There are a number of lures that you can use to catch bass but these 5 are my favorite May lures!
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

I had spinal surgery and things didn’t go as planned unfortunately I lost control on my right foot(drop foot). So I haven’t fished since the beginning of the year slowly recovering can’t wait to get back on the water!
Good luck to you, may you heal quickly and thoroughly!
God bless you man. I've had several lumbar spine fusions and need pain medication for intermittent chronic pain.
I love to go fishing as it sort of takes my mind off the pain
I know what you mean I've had two spinal cord surgeries, I've lost the feeling in my finger tips (very difficult to tie lures on) and lost a lot of control in my legs. I just now started to get back to fishing. Very difficult to launch and load my boat but I'm going to learn how to do it. Hang in there brother we can do it.
Sorry too hear that news! Please get better ! Little at a time < Never give up ! Peace man
been getting skunked an awful lot during one of the “best” months of the year… give me the juice ty lol
Same
Weightless 4.5 roboworm in Margarita Mutilator. Try it out. I’m in Colorado, and have finally been getting them on that specific bait. I used it because of Tyler’s recommendation lol
I gotten a few here and there but I'm pretty much in the same boat as well
I feel you, A few days ago I got out pretty early and sure enough the shad were running the banks spawning but I didn't have any luck shallow, dragged an underspin in about 10ft got a good bite then it spit the hook and nothing for the rest of the day. Today I was fishing from the bank and saw a couple beds in about a foot of water, the fish on one of the beds were so finicky any time I pulled anything through the bed they bolted. The other one they didn't even care what was happening, they were just rolling around doing the deed.
Went out with live worms for bluegill and killed em but past 3 days nothin
Just had a bass tail slap my ass cheeks and tell me to use a different set of 5 lures
Awesome advice! Thank you so much, definitely going to have to try these.
Thanks for the info. I'll have to try the floating worm soon.
Great video and great information thank you
Just used the weightless wacky worm on my home lake, sunrise to sunset and didn’t get a bite!!!! I watched fish come look at it and laugh at me, will never use again!!! I’ll be going back to my trusty Texas rig senko
Damn asshole fish 😂
Great point with glide bait using it to find bed fish etc etc.
Here near Charlotte. Been killing the bass about 30 yards off shore. Popping a texas stlye worm. Throwing towards bank. But catching them sorta deep
Arkie Jig with craw tail got it done for me today. Wacky rig is good too!!
One worth adding that has been producing a lot for me in the past two weeks the Berkley Nessie 5" and 7" are soft body glides at like $10 that absolutely produce fish
This BIG TIME. I won't spend ludicrous amounts of money on a glide bait. $10 for a Berkley Nessie is an all day catch lure.
Ty - Great vid- what hooks are you using with your floating worms?
I’m starting to think bass eat whatever they want. They have no idea what month it is. In NW Indiana the bass are so confused because the weather has been so inconsistent. I’m not even sure the spawn has started yet.
Just caught a 4.65lber last week put of the Barbee Lake Chain on a spinnerbait. They wouldn't even look at a wacky worm, Texas rig, or swim jig, or lip less crank. I agree. They just eat whatever they want
Man I love your videos. My go-to on UA-cam.
If fishing in shallow waters or over hydrilla here in Florida, would you still use flouro for the leader? You have to have a leader because of the heavy pressure our lakes are receiving the fish a line weary. Been playing around with a mono leader and it stays nice and high. Haven’t fished it yet.
Can confirm. Topwater is the way to go!
Haven’t listened to this guy in a while used to study him but nowadays I already know what to throw from him
Great content!
The spinnerbait bite is still on fire right now on the Ohio River. Top water is starting to come into play but is hit or miss depending on river current.
What hook is your go to for the floating worm?
I caught a 4.5lb large mouth female last week in a canal on a jig with a twin tail creature bait hopping it thru the weeds!
What is your opinion on Slobberknockers and Snap Jigs?
Love the vid
caught 8 bass the other day with the circle hook/wacky rig setup. nothing crazy, but some nice dinks
Great channel. Wish we could order your hats from South Africa.
From CINCY!!😎 Live in Atlanta for 30 years now
Sadly we can't fish for Bass until the third Saturday in JUNE up here in Ontario. However I did get my PB Pike on the weekend 🙂
Anyone have good lure recommendations for Southern California bass fishing right now?
Another vid!!!
Will a roboworm work
YES!!!!
Savage gear glide bait
Floating worm is deadly. I’ve gone through two bags already
What part of Ohio do you fish? I’m right in Columbus and was just curious what some of your favorite bass fishing places in central Ohio.
I caught my pb largemouth bass yesterday on a weedless gary Yamamoto worm
💪🏼
I'm in New Hampshire, US.
These bait of the month vids are great. But I have to keep myself a month behind.
For example the April baits video for me is right for May,
May will be for June.
Same here in NY, the fish just started moving up this week, and the water temp raised 10° in the last couple days. I usually fish tiny lakes in April because they warm up faster.
I'm in maine and still waiting for the water to warm up.
We are flirting with 56-58° water in the shallows. Almost there!
@MrArctictundra Niagara river is lower than that and canals/ creeks are right around 58-60 degrees. Been crushing the large smallmouth and bunch of buck bass.
I'm in NH also. Still haven't caught a bass yet.
Trout biting though
Good video two words though sun screen
Thanks Dad
Not catching any bass in ponds in FL why
Try topwater lures. Sadly I didn't have any topwater lures and bass were hitting flies on the surface of the water.
I’m fishing in nj Oakland nj
Great job
8” mag draft has caught a 7 and 8 pounders this spring in Georgia
Zoom red trick worm has done well also
🐟💦💦💦😎
👍
The bass hit the trick worm! On.a 9.5 pounder I caught last spring she hit it very hard and on the next cast in she nailed it 🐟💦💦 don’t forget they will hit it first
Try a DD75 deep crank bait… speed crank it fast 💨 🐟💦💦😎
Im buying H2O for every bait I get
Couldn’t get through his ad
Skill issue
Blah blah blah
