Hi Christian has Richie strengthened up the top eye of the mudder float as I have destroyed loads in the past with the eye ripping out. They would be perfect with a coiled spring eye
I whip and glue thin braid above and below the eye. I then glue the whole body use a medical glove. Doesn't effect how the float sits. Ive got floats that are 15 year old still going strong. I just use superglue says its not waterproof but ive never had a problem using it. Nothing worse then a side eye coming out especially when you are catching well. Try it on one of your floats 👍
Spring eyes will impact how the float sits and you can get line trapped in them so most float makers try not to use them. Whipping some think mono around the float a couple of times will help 👍
If you're fishing with a back shot, do you have to allow for the weight of the back shot on your rigs float tip ?
No, as long as you hold it above the surface, or closer to the pole tip than the float.
