    Well that is rare, I saw some stuff I haven’t seen before, and I got a big laugh.

      Thanks ! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and saw some things you've never seen before. I remember the 80s nightclub scene too, and I have to say, I'm happier now as a married man. I'd rather stay home with the wife, the kids, and the fish, than go out. I guess it's sad in a way... lol :-)

      @@TheDave333 No mate, I hear you. If you remember the 80s nightclubs, we are probably close in age. Just Thinking about those days makes me tired lol. Now, by 10pm, give me a cookie and a glass of chocolate milk, and I’m ready for bed lol
      I’m happy at home, fooling with vintage audio/video, gaming and the fish. I’m just glad I chose such cheap hobbies…NOT!
      I’ve always wanted shrimp but never took the plunge. So watching that breeding bit was Interesting Didn’t want to kill stuff, so haven’t tried them. Basically had the one 3Ft tank, which is a mutt guppy farm and been running for years. I throw a new strain In 6 months to freshen it up.
      I’ve just set up a large rack in the garage (under protests), and have 5 empty 20g on the top shelf ready to go. No idea why I’m going to do tho. Maybe shrimp in one of them.
      There you go, I wrote war and peace! Lol. Cheers..

    A brilliant video that manages to be both informative and hilarious at the same time (not to mention a bit raunchy in places 😂).
    I've been keeping cherry shrimp for almost two years now.
    I started with a dozen shop bought, initially in a 5 gallon Fluval Spec, but they're such prolific little breeders, there's now hundreds spread through multiple tanks.
    I try to keep the best quality individuals in one species only tank and can always tell, even from across the room, when a female has molted, because I'll see the males zooming madly around the tank trying to find her, thanks to her 'special perfume' driving them absolutely bonkers.

    I've been keeping Neocaridina for a while, one of my all time favorite aquatic critters. This is the best hatching/first few seconds of life footage I've seen on them! Thanks. But 1 question, how do the eggs transfer from the saddle to the undercarriage of the tail? I'm assuming the saddle is somehow connected to the digestive system and she "poops" them out under her tail? No idea lol

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  2 роки тому +2

      @Bruce The Snoose
      There's a special pore underneath the tail / swimmerets where the eggs leave her body. It's not part of the digestive system. It's part of the reproductive system, and it's the same pore where the male's sperm enters the female. As the eggs leave her body, she positions them where they need to be using her back legs. If you haven't seen this video, it might help. ua-cam.com/video/r-CznyzdZ-g/v-deo.html

    Wow! Ideally joined funny footage, photos with amazing sense of humour 👍
    I would like to hire shrimp pack as sanitary unit but, hmm... they proliferate like crazy and what to do with them 😳 . Guppies, at least regulate their own kindergarten but shrimps are everywhere 🦐🦐🦐

      The more shrimp the better!!! If you have too many, they can be fed to fish. Too many shrimp is a problem that I would like to have. 😳

    • @moonpleco5083

      Yes, indeed fish. But if there are not carnivore fish present in the aquarium, overgrown population is catastrophic.
      Ecosystem must work 🦈🐟🦐🦠

    How many should there be? I have only seen 5 babies and seem to be almost in their juvenile size. Where are the others?

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  2 роки тому +1

      The numbers depend heavily on the environment. . . They're hard to see. If you see 5, there are probably 10 or 15 in there. . . .

    how long does it takes the eggs to form after the shrimp is pregnant?

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  2 роки тому +3

      The eggs are formed inside her body in the ovaries, and they're fertilized when they leave her body. Shew then places the fertilized eggs under her tail This video will explain everything in greater detail. ua-cam.com/video/e6eLHJDVTi8/v-deo.html

    How long does lady Cherry carry the eggs with her ? Do we need to isolate her? Will the adults eat the new born shrimps?

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  Рік тому +3

      Depending on the water temperature, they'll hatch after about 30 days. She does not need to be isolated, and the babies are safe with the adults. Congratulations! It's very exciting to see the little shrimplets suddenly appear. 💞

    hey, i’d like to ask a favor of you to make a video on how planaria affects snails or shrimps

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  2 роки тому +1

      At some point in the near future, I plan on making a video all about planaria. I think they're fascinating animals!!! I do have footage of a planaria crawling up underneath a shrimp and going after her eggs. So, they do go after shrimp eggs, I'm not sure how they affect snails.

    That shrimp parasite is probably not a parasite. When the shrimp leaves the shell it sucks nearby stuff in. Maybe vorticella on the shrimps?

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  Рік тому +1

      It's an apostomate ciliate. Lives inside the shrimp and feeds on the byproducts of the exoskeleton. Vorticella live on the outside.

    • @justaficus2953
      @justaficus2953 Рік тому

      @@TheDave333 Those things are crazy. The part where they keep dividing to get tiny is also neat. Really surprising they aren't pathogenic. Would you ever do a colab with journey to the microcosmos? This ciliate is much more interesting than theirs.

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  Рік тому +1

      Someday, I hope to be able to afford a nice microscope that I can attach to my camera. I love what they do at Journey to the microcosmos. I hope there's no ciliate envy . . . :-)
