    Really great walkthrough. Simple, direct and showed exactly what you promised. I've been struggling with laying down a few simple tracks and this was super helpful. Thanks!

    Thanks so much for sharing this! Great walkthrough.
    (Also a reminder to folks to update your firmware when your Orba arrives so it's up to date with the latest features and improvements) 🤓

    thanks so much for the great walkthrough. I agree with many here that the others just assume you already have basic knowledge of how it works! Your video is just what I needed. Thanks.

    Thank you so much for this. Clear and detailed, so even a beginner can follow it. Every other video I’ve watched goes too fast and assumes too much knowledge.

    Thanks for the tutorial. Haven't purchased mine yet. Wondering once your done can you export your beat to like an MP3?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому +2

      It can send audio through the headphone jack like I'm using, or output midi signals to a computer DAW through USB, but you would need a program to record to MP3. Recording isn't my area of expertise, though, so you might get a better answer from the Artiphon forums or an Orba FB group.

    Thank you for the tutorial. How do you know what notes you're playing tho? Like can you play in a certain key?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  3 роки тому +2

      Using the Orba app you can set the key that will be used for your song. Most of the Lead voices use a pentatonic scale like I'm doing here, but there is a diatonic scale option as well.

    Is this hooked up to a DAW or are the sounds all included

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому +1

      All of these were on board sounds played through external speakers. Many other voices are included in Orba as well.

  • @paulepling

    What do u have the 3.5mm jack hooked up to?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому

      Just my desktop monitor speakers. The camera wasn't picking up the Orba speakers well enough.

  • @barongboy

    Is this a stand-alone device or does it work in conjunction with a software?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому +2

      It has speakers and a headphone jack to play stand-alone, an app to swap out the factory sounds for each instrument, and can pass midi signals to recording software. I've added a link in the description.

    How do you set up different scales? Or can you?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  Рік тому

      Using the Orba app you can choose between the various maj/min scales, but I don't know if you can do any other custom scales.

    Can you make the loop longer?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому +3

      The loop length is set when you hit the A to end your first record (hi-hat in this video). You can make the loop any length but cannot extend it once it's set.

    • @cookahbetsy
      @cookahbetsy 2 роки тому

      @@MrFrenchyge also can you add recording on an instrument once you have already recorded it? Or do you have to record the instrument in 1 take?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому

      @@cookahbetsy Adding and removing instrument layers to the loop is possible and demonstrated in the video.

      @@MrFrenchyge i was wondering about a loop you already recorded for example can you go back into that loop.leaving the original recorded pattern, but just add a few notes?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому +1

      @@cookahbetsy Yes you can. In the video I record hi-hat on the first pass, set the loop, then go back and add kick and snare notes on the next pass. Then I add a fill on the toms the next time through.

    The loop should be smoother at the end , little rushed(positive critique)

  • @starky4079
    @starky4079 2 роки тому

    1 second of dead air between loops. Why?

    • @MrFrenchyge
      @MrFrenchyge  2 роки тому +1

      The loop will end at the completion of the measure after the A is pressed. If you press the A *after* the 1 beat then Orba will record 3 beats of silence into the loop to complete the measure. You will need to press A before the end of beat 4 in order to create a good loop without the dead air.
