Something that I love about San Andreas's map is that when your in San Fierro you feel so far away from any other city and when your in that abandoned western town you feel so disconnected from civilization. But in GTA V when I'm in the countryside I just have to drive for 5 seconds and I'm back in Los Santos.

RDR is a fantastic game. I have been playing Rockstar games since the top down GTA1 and yes, they rarely disappoint me. Some games are better than other ones, but no dev is flawless, obviously.

I'm sorry but the san-andreas story sucks as soon as you hit Toreno's section. Between the end of San Fiero and going to the Casino, it all seems rather washed out and vague. Everything else in the story is awesome. Also, GTA Vice City's story trumps the San Andreas one IMHO just because awesome Also, Graphics?? San Andreas looked like shit compared to Vice City. No reflective chrome bumpers, less detail on rain and puddles, polygone edges so sharp you could shave with, and terrain that looks like it was made from MDF. Goi look at the terrain between palomino creek and montgomery. There's edges out there that could cut a container ship in half. OTOH, there's much more to do in San Andreas than Vice city (and even GTA V). From taxi, fire, paramedic and vigilante missions, to races, to gambling. There's everything to do in GTA San Andreas. In GTA V you have golf, yoga and a few crap side missions that feel more a chore than entertainment.

San Andreas is a state that holds Los Santos, Blaine County, Red County, San Fierro, Las Venturas and a few other districts that I can't think of. GTA V only has Los Santos and Blaine County. That's only two districts; three if you add in North Yankton. So GTA 5 may be "bigger", but it's not as big as it would've been if it was set in the whole state of San Andreas instead of just two sections of it (Los Santos and Blaine County).

Though you can not compare map sizes like that...There are so many things that are not equal. For example : car speed, type of roads, the amount of turns, road paths, if the player messed up in the middle of the driving etc. Gta Vs map is bigger, but in my opinion GTA SAs map is better. It features 3 different islands that had 3 different climates. Really made the map unique and the progression between areas of the map meaningful. Also, Rockstar could have easily made a remake of the SA map. But they didn't because they focused on one city :Los santos. While in Gta SA there were 2 more cities: San fierro and las venturas. I would have preferred a remake of SAs map tbh but at last they didn't do it.

I like the realism of V, especially in how much LS feels like the real LA. This video really shows one major flaw with Vs map however: the padding. There are so many straight roads that go on for way too long without anything exciting or noteworthy on the way. Even though the wilderness portion is much bigger in V, there is less to do there than in SA, and fewer towns. There is no reason Mt. Chilliad needs to take up almost half of the map when it has nothing to offer other than what, an easter egg and a bike race or two?

Omg, i cant say how much time I've spent with GTA:SA. The map design (cities eg) is better in SA. Though the map in GTA:SA seems to be bigger, the GTA V map is way bigger. I think it appears to be bigger because of the several cities and stuff.

its not really bigger, because of the engine constraint in gta:sa they compressed the map to make it feel bigger, gta 5 is just a bigger map but less things to do than gta:sa.
Two things gta v is smaller it's only takes 45 minutes roughly to walk around the whole outer map while it takes over 2 to 3 hours to walk around the whole outer map in sa, and second thing is edit your spelling it says gatv just letting ya know

Driving thru San Andreas in GTA SA feels like getting out of other places to the unknown, while driving in GTA V feels that still getting stuck in an large lonely island. Playing GTA SA is so much fun coz of that illusion, eventho the map scale isn't bigger than GTA V's, but it differs in so many aspect.

Come on be real for a second here. GTA V is clearly a better game and it should be it's a lot newer. GTA SA was the best a game could be for it's time but the nostalgia plays a huge part here. GTA V has more vehicles (V has over 400 and still adding more SA only had 212), more weapons ( SA had 42 V has over 60 and still adding more ), Better driving physics, better car customization, better graphics, a bigger map, an online mode, way more stuff to do (at least in the online part anyway.), Animals, A content creator and the list goes on.

GTAV is the best (atm), u just like GTA:SA more. Thats different. Mb story-line is better of GTA:SA (I havent played through that one), GTAV is fine (except the last raid), but it took a while for me to play it through (I was at lvl 140, when I finished the MAIN story-line), but its not all about the Story mode. GTA Online is far better then MTA / SAMP (fanmade Onlines btw.)

I never thought about doing it as a kid, but when I recently saw the images of how small the GTA SA map was when looking at it from the sky, it was so weird
what I don't understand is why you raced an adder vs a bullet, when the bullet is in both games lol - also the driving skill in the gta 5 side was overall better, with the san andreas side even crashing to a dead stop at one point. At the end of the day, with the exact same car and exact same driving skill, the time would have been the exact same.
There were obviously more turns in the SA map than in the GTA V map which added time to that. I still think the SA map is bigger, but this measurement is inaccurate in my opinion.

I played GTA SA countless days in the '00s when I'm in college and doing practically nothing except spending my parents money on food, books, games, and DVDs. I still remember every road and weird places where I trolled the silly AIs and cops for hours. Very nostalgic and memorable...but I also kinda regret that I spent so much time being a useless human at my youth. I should've study more and took every good opportunities and collect more real achievements in life... 😅 But I gotta admit I love GTA V more because I love Trevor's vivacious personality more than any other characters in GTA series. So it's not true that only kids would like GTA V more than GTA SA I'm almost 40 for crying out loud!! Too bad my old brain can't seem to remember all the details like roads and alleys like I used to...but maybe that's also because now I have jobs and responsibilities and can't spend hours to play game anymore. Actually I have roughly 2000 hours in skyrim and the map is alot smaller than it seems. Like it's smaller than either of these but because walking speed is slower than driving speed and how dense it is plus interiors and enviorments it feels big. If skyrim had planes or a way to fly it would feel wierd, if I remember right skyrim is 2 miles at it's longest point. Skyrim does feel pretty big but once you know the map well you notice that it's actually alot smaller than it seems

San Andreas is a state that holds Los Santos, Blaine County, Red County, San Fierro, Las Venturas and a few other districts that I can't think of.
GTA V only has Los Santos and Blaine County. That's only two districts; three if you add in North Yankton. So GTA 5 may be "bigger", but it's not as big as it would've been if it was set in the whole state of San Andreas instead of just two sections of it (Los Santos and Blaine County).

Though you can not compare map sizes like that...There are so many things that are not equal. For example : car speed, type of roads, the amount of turns, road paths, if the player messed up in the middle of the driving etc.
Gta Vs map is bigger, but in my opinion GTA SAs map is better. It features 3 different islands that had 3 different climates. Really made the map unique and the progression between areas of the map meaningful.
Also, Rockstar could have easily made a remake of the SA map. But they didn't because they focused on one city :Los santos. While in Gta SA there were 2 more cities: San fierro and las venturas. I would have preferred a remake of SAs map tbh but at last they didn't do it.

I like the realism of V, especially in how much LS feels like the real LA. This video really shows one major flaw with Vs map however: the padding. There are so many straight roads that go on for way too long without anything exciting or noteworthy on the way. Even though the wilderness portion is much bigger in V, there is less to do there than in SA, and fewer towns. There is no reason Mt. Chilliad needs to take up almost half of the map when it has nothing to offer other than what, an easter egg and a bike race or two?

Omg, i cant say how much time I've spent with GTA:SA. The map design (cities eg) is better in SA. Though the map in GTA:SA seems to be bigger, the GTA V map is way bigger. I think it appears to be bigger because of the several cities and stuff.
Its bigger, but not "way bigger". GTA 5's map is underused. Rockstar got lazy since GTA iv, since they know they dont need to put much detail on their games in order to attract the average player.

Come on be real for a second here. GTA V is clearly a better game and it should be it's a lot newer. GTA SA was the best a game could be for it's time but the nostalgia plays a huge part here. GTA V has more vehicles (V has over 400 and still adding more SA only had 212), more weapons ( SA had 42 V has over 60 and still adding more ), Better driving physics, better car customization, better graphics, a bigger map, an online mode, way more stuff to do (at least in the online part anyway.), Animals, A content creator and the list goes on.

Mb story-line is better of GTA:SA (I havent played through that one), GTAV is fine (except the last raid), but it took a while for me to play it through (I was at lvl 140, when I finished the MAIN story-line), but its not all about the Story mode. GTA Online is far better then MTA / SAMP (fanmade Onlines btw.)

what I don't understand is why you raced an adder vs a bullet, when the bullet is in both games lol - also the driving skill in the gta 5 side was overall better, with the san andreas side even crashing to a dead stop at one point. At the end of the day, with the exact same car and exact same driving skill, the time would have been the exact same.

I played GTA SA countless days in the '00s when I'm in college and doing practically nothing except spending my parents money on food, books, games, and DVDs. I still remember every road and weird places where I trolled the silly AIs and cops for hours. Very nostalgic and memorable...but I also kinda regret that I spent so much time being a useless human at my youth. I should've study more and took every good opportunities and collect more real achievements in life... 😅
But I gotta admit I love GTA V more because I love Trevor's vivacious personality more than any other characters in GTA series. So it's not true that only kids would like GTA V more than GTA SA I'm almost 40 for crying out loud!! Too bad my old brain can't seem to remember all the details like roads and alleys like I used to...but maybe that's also because now I have jobs and responsibilities and can't spend hours to play game anymore.
I just wish I would still be alive for GTA VI, VII, VIII, IX, X...etc. I would happily become old and retired, and retract myself completely from society and live in those games 24/7. For now, I have to work harder and save money for my golden age. 😂

Actually I have roughly 2000 hours in skyrim and the map is alot smaller than it seems. Like it's smaller than either of these but because walking speed is slower than driving speed and how dense it is plus interiors and enviorments it feels big. If skyrim had planes or a way to fly it would feel wierd, if I remember right skyrim is 2 miles at it's longest point. Skyrim does feel pretty big but once you know the map well you notice that it's actually alot smaller than it seems
