I loved the topic you proposed in this video. As you always do, also this time you brought an interesting perspective to what identity means. Looking forward to see what you're next videos will be about! Great content!❤
"Different" relative to who? The framing of there being some standard norm defined by whiteness and all "other" characteristics deemed diverse/different is what we all need to challenge. Great video and points! Well made!
Scenario: someone was born in Canada to German parents who were diplomats there parents and then his parents moved to England when he was 2 years old, and when he was 8 they moved to France... the kid is 13 now, has a German passport thanks to his parents and Canadian cuz he was born there, he however doesnt speak German and his first language is British English but French became his dominant language by the age of 13 and he doesnt have a French passport... I mean, where is he FROM?
I appreciate your video. As a Chinese-American, if I were honest, it really upset me when I was asked where I'm from. I have a really bland American accent. If they heard me on the phone they wouldn't even ask where I'm from. My parent's don't have a Chinese accent either. I started to respond, "I'm from here. I was born in America and my parents were born in America. If you are asking what is my racial background, I'm Chinese"
Incredibly well made video. Shocked it isn't more popular! Thanking the algorithm for brining me here. Instant subscribe :)
