  • A plastic bottle greenhouse is the perfect garden addition for those who could do with a greenhouse but don't have the money for one, and who are concerned by the growing amount of plastic bottles littering the streets and going to landfill sites. By no means should this be a reason to buy more plastic bottles though! Keep hold of any plastic bottles you acquire, ask friends and family to keep hold of theirs too, and go on litter picks around your local area. Feel free to comment below to ask for more details about the making of this greenhouse!

    A fantastic way to recycle single-use plastic and one which brings to a life simple, low cost practical solution for sheltering outdoor plants. It demonstrates ingenuity and common sense in practice. Well done! 👌

    Great idea. You might also be able to use bubble wrap to bung up or fill any holes... A friend of mine filled the lowest bottles with sand to prevent the thing flying away, but your ideas are very good, thanks for the video!

    I have a friend that did this with 2 litter bottles but she filled them with water, they got hot during the day and kept the plants warm at night

    Dont use a drill, hammer, saw in flip flops.
    Pallets are difficult to take apart, but you new a Hack Saw not a wood saw to cut through the nails.

    Love the video! Thank you for sharing, I am inspired to make my own too. One question I have is, how do you deal with any water that builds up into the water bottles?

    • @NatureSliceUK
      @NatureSliceUK  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching! 😁 I didn’t really have a problem with this thankfully! Even the bottles at the bottom were bottomless, and most didn’t fit totally flush with the bottle above - water built up in some after heavy rain but it’s easy to squeeze the one below a bit to let the water out 🤙

    I love this idea, but one problem I read about still seems there. How will you stop the water from pooling and prevent mosquitoes?

    • @NatureSliceUK
      @NatureSliceUK  3 роки тому +3

      I'm so glad you like the idea :) I think the U.K. winter naturally prevents mosquitoes, but I can see this would be a problem somewhere warmer! If you are referring to water pooling inside the bottles, you can block the tops of the bottles with something to prevent water and bugs getting in - perhaps stuff some recycled bubble wrap or other packaging material you may have

  • @kellicannon6130

    Great video ! I'm wondering what's the usual temperature difference between the outside of the greenhouse and the inside ? Like, how many degrees hotter is it in the greenhouse than outside.

    • @gav-ce5cm
      @gav-ce5cm 3 роки тому

      It's usually 10 degrees celsius hotter inside than outside

    • @zoyadvorak
      @zoyadvorak 2 роки тому +1

      @@gav-ce5cm I don't think it will make such a difference as too many holes

  • @ChildofGodforevr
    @ChildofGodforevr 4 роки тому

    It’s no good, too many holes for wind and frost to get in and your plant will freeze. I don’t know how cold it gets where u live but here in NYC it often gets down to -10 Degrees Fahrenheit in Winter, with wind. What you made is fine for 30+ degrees at lowest. My gardenia bush would die in that contraption. I’ve constructed a much better one, and mine opens at the top to allow rain in, then I close it to keep snow and frost out. Also made out of all plastic bottles, no wood coz mine is for a large bush. I managed to use recycled plastic instead of the wood.
