Really useful advice! thank-you Cassiy! I'm really enjoying your channel lately, I'm up to 51 sales now, with 15 five-star reviews! -so grateful for each and know it will grow if I really put in the work and build it. I opened my store at the end of 2022, and just like yours, Etsy suspended it in early December and said I was banned from the platform. It got me down and I stepped away from it for a month, then randomly decided to email them in late January and they reactivated it. So, I got my store ready and got my first sale in February, But now it says on Etsy since 2022, but I didn't really start working on it until 2023.. So annoying!! haha. Anyways, a little tip for Etsy newbies: People LOVE custom and personalized products, probably about 75% of my sales are custom! It may be a bit of extra work, but can boost confidence at the start and help get your first several sales. I'm also in Canada, so I think my products might not be shown to as many US customers. I started doing this around 2 weeks ago and I started getting 6 more times views and favorites. No sales yet but I list almost daily. With hard work and patience I can do it!

Very good advice, Cassiy! I think your 5th point stumps people the most. I've heard so many people say, "but I have a background in graphic design; I don't understand why my designs aren't selling." But that is exactly the issue - it's not about what you want to create, but the real question is what are customers looking to buy! Thanks for sharing your tips :)

Don't give the stores selling Disney any part of your energy or attention! They are not building a sustainable business, it's not something to be jealous of. Let them make their own mistakes. You just do what you know is right and build the business of your dreams! There are a lot of things that will try to bring your mindset to a negative place in life, but don't let them. Just stay in your lane and focus on your own success

Omg thank you for making this video. I really needed to hear number one. It happened to me last night. Account suspended but I didn’t even get a chance to list anything for sale yet. I was so down all day but now after hearing the reason for that I’m still encouraged. I’ve been watching all your vids and researching for weeks. I was supposed to be open today, but alright I can be patient.
My account was also suspended immediately after opening and it took nine days to reopen. I was just suspended again today for apparently “spamming” aka adding a lot of listings at once. I didn’t know that was an issue. I’ve only been open 2 weeks and this is so frustrating!

i had a handful of family/friend orders and i really thought i was getting on a roll w views. i had every reason to believe i might get an organic sale around my third weekend. and then i got suspended- EXACTLY from friday 5pm until monday 9am. it ruined my momentum and it took another month before i got that order from a stranger. at least it made me think about backup plans, but i wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Yes if you purchase my mockups, they say right int he title what shirt I am wearing in the picture! I do really recommend buying only pictures of the exact item your customer will receive. Best of luck!

You forgot to mention the high fees which can be accrued by a seller at Etsy. You mentioned in another video the average monthly fees can be up to $63. Hidden fees which a seller may or may not be aware of in the beginning. Aer there not other alternative choices like shopify? eBay? Amazon? Other such marketplaces?
Thank you for always posting helpful videos. For the titles, is it better to use longer long tail keywords at the front of the listing or to break them down into smaller segments. For example: "Polished Titanium with Opal and Gold Flakes" or " Polished Titanium Ring, Opal and Gold Flakes Ring" Also, would using "women's wedding ring" in a tag and then using "women' wedding band" a waste of a tag or should I use them both? Thanks for yet another wonderful video! I love your channel! I ran into an issue recently with customer reviews I was hoping you might have a solution for. Recently I’ve had customers go in to write a review, only to be told Etsy will not allow them to write one until some far away date in the future. This is frustrating bc it’s challenging enough to get reviews without them being told they can’t write one and have to think about going back in later on. I’ve read through the forums and it seems to be pretty a common issue. Are you aware of this issue? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks, Cassiy! Great video! On another note, today I noticed today while doing research on Etsy that the filter option for "Bestseller" has disappeared! Am I going crazy? Did Etsy relocate it? It was obvious that the filter menu got a makeover when I looked today, but I didn't see the filter by "bestseller" anywhere as an option. Thankfully, I've got my Everbee chrome extension, but this option has always helped my niche research.

You would need to make sure your currency to your customers is set in dollars and then change your shipping profile within your listings to only shipping available to the US and coming from a zip code in the US! You can google where the print provider you use is located and use their address
For the product description where you put the details of the shirt should the intro be the relevant tags again or a description such as “ This shirt would be a great gift for you favorite teacher!”. I’ve seen both and I’m wondering if this could be affecting my quality score. I am currently only doing tags.

I do not have any logistics or printing support, so i have planned to upload my designs on printify. How does thos work? I am still confused. You also do the designs right?

Cassiy! I love your videos and I am so excited to start selling. As predicted I got shut down on day two of having my shop open before I even got my first listing up but I’m starting to panic because it’s been 5 business days since I submitted an appeal to get my shop open and have heard nothing yet and am still shut down. What should I do?? Do I just be patient or is this too long? I am soooo anxious to get my shop up and running 😭
Just try to be patient! Sometimes they don’t message you back and just open your store so id try to just login once per day to see if it comes back. If they don’t get back to you then just try to message them again. I lost mine during covid and it was gone a whole month so I feel you but I think they have been getting back to people a lot faster lately so hopefully it’s not long!
There is definitely room for new sellers! There are always new trends and styles that are going to become popular even in the biggest niches that you can break into the market with, and always tons of smaller niches that are not yet dominated either. I know tons of people who have started in the last year and found tons of success, don't overthink it, just get started and try!
Hi Cassiy, if you answered this question before I missed it. Why do you think the majority of shops offer the unisex B+C 3001 rather than one of the models specifically for women? Is it because of a higher likelihood of an issue with the fit (due to the cut)? The higher price? Less colors offered?
The price point on the 3001 is really great, there are lots of great colors, a crazy amount of good mockups to choose from etc. They are just a really great proven shirt that people love! Also it makes it easier to sell unisex shirts so you don't have to do different shirts for different genders. At least those are the reasons that I think are why!
I have an question about print on demand! Can i make i design with a picture of my friend or friends, something funny for them and sell it to a friend and get the teespring 10 sells to get the trust score? Awesome videos btw!!

just also confused that i have set up my store as you have mentioned with putting my location as the printing provider but my listing still price at AU dolllars instead of US dollars. for example, I have priced my bella canvas 3001 shirts at $24.99 as you instrusted but its coming up as AU$24.99 not US so its not the same profit. Sorry I live in the US so I don't have all the answers for you but I looked on Etsy's website to see how to change currency and this is what I found for you! To set the currency for your shop: Sign in to Etsy.com. Click Shop Manager. Click Finances. Click Payment Settings. Click Currency. Select your preferred currency. Choose whether you would like the converted price on your current listings to be rounded to the nearest whole number. Click Change Shop Currency.

Any fonts that you use, you need to make sure you have commercial rights to use them. Fonts may be free but you don't always have the rights to use them to sell on items if that makes sense!

So if DaFont for example indicates that the font is 100% free for commercial use and the author also agrees (sometimes requesting a donation) - example: author leaves a note saying, “This is font 100% free for commercial use, however a donation is very much appreciated…“. Cassiy -- Question for you: To register your etsy account, did you intentionally match your account email handle name to your etsy shop name? I am creating a new email address for my etsy journey, so it's separate from my personal email. I am wondering if one, customers can see your account email address and if so, would you want them to be the same branding/name? I plan on starting a POD shop and digital downloads shop in the future -- would you recommend the different email addresses I create for each shop match the name of the shop, or do you know if they have to? Hi Cassiy, just watched your video. Started designing last week and opened my store today. Is it better to design on Canva and upload to Etsy or design in Prinify and upload to Etsy? I have a Pro-Canva account so I've been using it for my designs, but another You tuber suggested designing in Printify.
I design in Canva, then upload to Printify, then publish that design to Etsy! I do a a free step by step mini course on getting started if you like, it’s in the description if you’re interested!
I think you do need to find niche that you have personal interest in. Otherwise you will struggle to come up with good creative designs and you will lose interest in your shop. Also you may have to do some social media and advertising to maximize sales especially since you are targeting niche audiences.
I recommend selling in lots of niches on Etsy instead of just one! I have a whole video about this on my channel called “general store vs niche store” if you want to check out my thoughts on it

Hi Cassiy! My store was suspended the same day I opened it. They activated it 15 days after, only to suspend it again the same day! The only way I got to send them a message was through the appeal suspention option. Is there an actual email??? Hey Cassiy! Just curious the shipping is included in the price or if that is separate. (For example, if a tshirt is a $15 price to make but shipping is $8, is that included or would it be $23 total) Printify is confusing me because they are listed separate but the shipping doesn't show up when I try to set a retail price.
Yes the shipping is a separate charge on Printify! So you would add the two together to get your total cost. Then you decided if you are going to charge separate or included the shipping price in your cost to the customer
I’m sorry Cassidy, but what’s a Niche? Is that like the listing and description in a title or something? For Example: Green St. Day, Mug Rainbow, white 15 oz, Hat”, etc? Everyone says niche, but what exactly is a niche? It’s not a hashtag or a color or group or something
Hi! A niche is a specific type within a bigger group. So like, "pets" is a niche but it's also kind of broad. You can do "pet mom/dad" and that's more niched down, or keep going even further and make products for "mini poodle mom" or "golden retriever dad", etc. It's basically about getting specific to find a smaller audience as opposed to the whole sea of buyers! Hope this helped :)

My account was also suspended immediately after opening and it took nine days to reopen. I was just suspended again today for apparently “spamming” aka adding a lot of listings at once. I didn’t know that was an issue. I’ve only been open 2 weeks and this is so frustrating!

i had a handful of family/friend orders and i really thought i was getting on a roll w views. i had every reason to believe i might get an organic sale around my third weekend. and then i got suspended- EXACTLY from friday 5pm until monday 9am. it ruined my momentum and it took another month before i got that order from a stranger. at least it made me think about backup plans, but i wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Yes if you purchase my mockups, they say right int he title what shirt I am wearing in the picture! I do really recommend buying only pictures of the exact item your customer will receive. Best of luck!

You forgot to mention the high fees which can be accrued by a seller at Etsy. You mentioned in another video the average monthly fees can be up to $63. Hidden fees which a seller may or may not be aware of in the beginning. Aer there not other alternative choices like shopify? eBay? Amazon? Other such marketplaces?

I ran into an issue recently with customer reviews I was hoping you might have a solution for. Recently I’ve had customers go in to write a review, only to be told Etsy will not allow them to write one until some far away date in the future. This is frustrating bc it’s challenging enough to get reviews without them being told they can’t write one and have to think about going back in later on. I’ve read through the forums and it seems to be pretty a common issue. Are you aware of this issue? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks, Cassiy! Great video! On another note, today I noticed today while doing research on Etsy that the filter option for "Bestseller" has disappeared! Am I going crazy? Did Etsy relocate it? It was obvious that the filter menu got a makeover when I looked today, but I didn't see the filter by "bestseller" anywhere as an option. Thankfully, I've got my Everbee chrome extension, but this option has always helped my niche research.
Sadly looks like it is gone for now, I noticed that today too! This is not the first time that they have gotten rid of it so it might be back someday!

You would need to make sure your currency to your customers is set in dollars and then change your shipping profile within your listings to only shipping available to the US and coming from a zip code in the US! You can google where the print provider you use is located and use their address
For the product description where you put the details of the shirt should the intro be the relevant tags again or a description such as “ This shirt would be a great gift for you favorite teacher!”. I’ve seen both and I’m wondering if this could be affecting my quality score. I am currently only doing tags.

Cassiy! I love your videos and I am so excited to start selling. As predicted I got shut down on day two of having my shop open before I even got my first listing up but I’m starting to panic because it’s been 5 business days since I submitted an appeal to get my shop open and have heard nothing yet and am still shut down. What should I do?? Do I just be patient or is this too long? I am soooo anxious to get my shop up and running 😭
Just try to be patient! Sometimes they don’t message you back and just open your store so id try to just login once per day to see if it comes back. If they don’t get back to you then just try to message them again. I lost mine during covid and it was gone a whole month so I feel you but I think they have been getting back to people a lot faster lately so hopefully it’s not long!

There is definitely room for new sellers! There are always new trends and styles that are going to become popular even in the biggest niches that you can break into the market with, and always tons of smaller niches that are not yet dominated either. I know tons of people who have started in the last year and found tons of success, don't overthink it, just get started and try!

Hi Cassiy, if you answered this question before I missed it. Why do you think the majority of shops offer the unisex B+C 3001 rather than one of the models specifically for women? Is it because of a higher likelihood of an issue with the fit (due to the cut)? The higher price? Less colors offered?
I've been wondering the same thing!
The price point on the 3001 is really great, there are lots of great colors, a crazy amount of good mockups to choose from etc. They are just a really great proven shirt that people love! Also it makes it easier to sell unisex shirts so you don't have to do different shirts for different genders. At least those are the reasons that I think are why!

just also confused that i have set up my store as you have mentioned with putting my location as the printing provider but my listing still price at AU dolllars instead of US dollars. for example, I have priced my bella canvas 3001 shirts at $24.99 as you instrusted but its coming up as AU$24.99 not US so its not the same profit. Sorry I live in the US so I don't have all the answers for you but I looked on Etsy's website to see how to change currency and this is what I found for you!
To set the currency for your shop:
Sign in to Etsy.com.
Click Shop Manager.
Click Finances.
Click Payment Settings.
Click Currency.
Select your preferred currency.
Choose whether you would like the converted price on your current listings to be rounded to the nearest whole number.
Click Change Shop Currency.

Any fonts that you use, you need to make sure you have commercial rights to use them. Fonts may be free but you don't always have the rights to use them to sell on items if that makes sense!

So if DaFont for example indicates that the font is 100% free for commercial use and the author also agrees (sometimes requesting a donation) - example: author leaves a note saying, “This is font 100% free for commercial use, however a donation is very much appreciated…“. Cassiy -- Question for you: To register your etsy account, did you intentionally match your account email handle name to your etsy shop name? I am creating a new email address for my etsy journey, so it's separate from my personal email. I am wondering if one, customers can see your account email address and if so, would you want them to be the same branding/name? Hi Cassiy, just watched your video. Started designing last week and opened my store today. Is it better to design on Canva and upload to Etsy or design in Prinify and upload to Etsy? I have a Pro-Canva account so I've been using it for my designs, but another You tuber suggested designing in Printify.
I design in Canva, then upload to Printify, then publish that design to Etsy! I do a a free step by step mini course on getting started if you like, it’s in the description if you’re interested!
How do you find how long a store has been in business
I think you do need to find niche that you have personal interest in. Otherwise you will struggle to come up with good creative designs and you will lose interest in your shop. Also you may have to do some social media and advertising to maximize sales especially since you are targeting niche audiences.
I recommend selling in lots of niches on Etsy instead of just one! I have a whole video about this on my channel called “general store vs niche store” if you want to check out my thoughts on it

Hi Cassiy! My store was suspended the same day I opened it. They activated it 15 days after, only to suspend it again the same day! The only way I got to send them a message was through the appeal suspention option. Is there an actual email??? I can't fine it anywhere 😔 I'm wasting my month free Printify premium suscription while I wait for them to open my store again. So frustrating!!!

Bestsellers would refer to the specific item on Etsy that has sold enough to get awarded a bestseller badge on the listing from Etsy!

Etsy took away the best seller filter and replaced it with star seller. Is there a way to still research bestsellers without the everbee extension?
It's just more of a hunt without the bestseller filter now! There isn't any other way besides using a tool to sort them like that unfortunately!
Hey Cassiy! Just curious the shipping is included in the price or if that is separate. (For example, if a tshirt is a $15 price to make but shipping is $8, is that included or would it be $23 total) Printify is confusing me because they are listed separate but the shipping doesn't show up when I try to set a retail price.
Yes the shipping is a separate charge on Printify! So you would add the two together to get your total cost. Then you decided if you are going to charge separate or included the shipping price in your cost to the customer

I’m sorry Cassidy, but what’s a Niche? Is that like the listing and description in a title or something? For Example: Green St. Day, Mug Rainbow, white 15 oz, Hat”, etc? Everyone says niche, but what exactly is a niche? It’s not a hashtag or a color or group or something
Hi! A niche is a specific type within a bigger group. So like, "pets" is a niche but it's also kind of broad. You can do "pet mom/dad" and that's more niched down, or keep going even further and make products for "mini poodle mom" or "golden retriever dad", etc. It's basically about getting specific to find a smaller audience as opposed to the whole sea of buyers!
