    Amazing :) I opened my etsy shop at the end of 2021 but didn't truly get serious and consistent until fall 2022. But 2023 was my best year a lot of growth happened.. So to this date I'm at 271K in revenue and I would say when I made the switch to focus on the research and the customer everything changed... SO don't give up anyone. Show up everyday and do the work.. You gotta chip at it everyday :)

    I’m going to open my own Etsy shop soon and was just wondering as I’ve heard conflicting advice, does Etsy give a new shop a boost in the search results or each new listing a boost and is it for a specific period of time after the shop has opened as I’m hoping to try and take advantage of it if possible 🤷🏻‍♀️😁 Thank you so much 😁

I'm also realistic about earnings from this, working full time already if I can earn even a few extra hundred pounds a month then I'll be a happy bunny so from my end the profit she has made in a year is fabulous. The comments on here that its a poor figure are unfair, a lot of work has been put in and if we support and empower each other the Etsy world will be a more successful place. ❤❤

In Etsy's store description section, Etsy itself leaves space for websites and social media accounts, so I shared my own website and other accounts. Is this something that Etsy doesn't want anyway? But customers can follow you and get news in case of a ban. Do you recommend to not share them or not? Thank you

    Hey Cassiy, I love your videos, they are always so informative. I was wondering if you could make a video about when people list tshirt/ sweatshirt/ onesie / hoodie in one listing with one design. How do they automate it? How to make a few items listing? Also do you think it’s worth it? The first time I went to Etsy as a consumer, I wanted to purchase a shirt and was so confused why there was a listing of onesie (with the lowest price)/ youth short etc… after a while I got used to it as many sellers do post it this way. But in any case I was wondering if you have any insights on this. Thanks!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  8 місяців тому +3

      To be able to list all of these different products in one listing, it becomes a very manual process. I don't personally think it's worth your time. I just like to list all of the items separate! If you have ever seen my group listings tutorials, it works the same way.

I watched your video where you recommended we start with a general store where we sell lots of different niches but I have a question. I get that with the general store I can do lots of different niches and designs. Do you recommend I only do one type of product eg only mugs or only tshirts or only blankets per store? Or do you recommend making lots of different products in a general store like a mix of all those different products mentioned above?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  8 місяців тому +21

      I think in times of doubt like these, it's a really good idea to go find out for sure instead of speculating. Take a break from working on your business for a minute and go do some market research. Take awhile and go find stores that have only been open 1-2 years that have lots of sales. This is a really easy thing to do if you have the Everbee app since you can sort the search results by how old the shop is.
      $100,000 revenue like she has is probably around 4,000 - 5,000 sales just for reference. Once you find this list then take a real critical eye to what they are doing.
      Are they offering a loss leader on their products?
      What mockups are they using?
      What niches are they designing for?
      How many listings do they have?
      What types of fonts and colors are they using in their designs?
      Are they running a sale?
      You can learn from people here on UA-cam but I always use the proof on Etsy in the bestselling listings as my guiding light of what actually works! Take a critical eye to your own shop/listings/designs after doing this research and see if you really are doing "everything" or if you still have some things to learn and improve on. All the best!

    • @-Connor136
      @-Connor136 8 місяців тому +6

      you can definitely do it but you should be uploading more listings per day. 240 in 14 months is pretty bad so you should focus on optimizing your workflow so you can have higher output per unit of time you spend working on your shop. obviously I don't know how busy you are everyday but you should pretty much always be able to put out a minimum of three listings a day. just for reference I see shops put out 10-20 listings a day that are very successful and I myself do 15. I hope this was constructive as I'm only trying help and remember that "I'm starting to think it's not going to happen for me" is only true the day you decide to quit. Also feel free to drop your shop link here so everyone can look and give you constructive feedback.

Totally abandon adding anything for a couple years and have just maintained (I have another etsy shop - digital shop). in a nutshell - 70 listings, 455 sales (since 2018). If i wanted to go hard at this shop and run it much differently, is it best to start over with a new shop or just ramp it up now??? I ask because I don't know if Etsy somehow sees this as a failed shop therefore won't push items. ??? Would love your insight or anyone who might know.

    So far I’ve only had three sales, two being myself and my mom 😅. I set my prices to where I should be making 40-50% profit. But for some reason, I’ve only made like $6. What am I doing wrong? Does the customer cover the cost of shipping? Or do I need to add more to the price, to account for that? Right now it’s set at $4.95, or whatever the cost of shipping is for a shirt vs a sweatshirt. I have a 20% off sale running on the t-shirts and set prices accordingly to still be able to make a good profit. But I’m just not understanding where I’m going wrong.

      One a day is better than none! Try not to focus on the big number you want to get to, but instead, breaking it down and accomplishing little tasks everyday. Those listings will add up before you know it, and you’d be surprised by how much you can accomplish in 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, etc. Not to mention the experience that you gain while building your business. It takes time to build anything, even with all the technology and tools available in 2023, so don’t give up!

      @@itskarissss thank you so much for the kind words. I'm hoping that one of my mistakes isn't going to be that I'm spending too much time on my designs. I see people making 100 designs at one time just by changing a word and I don't really know if I believe in doing it that way, I think each design should have some sort of personal touch but again that might be what drags me down or maybe not drag me down but it may take me longer to start making sales. @@brian8431 take it from me that as a graphic designer prior to starting my Etsy journey, some of my best performing listings haven’t been ones that I spent hours on or particularly aligned with my personal design style, but rather were ones that customers already liked on the platform. Perfectionism can sometimes be a double edged sword and what I’ve learned through this whole process (less than a year in) is that the best thing you can do is just go for it. Should you still do your research and upload quality listings? Absolutely. But ultimately you won’t get the necessary feedback and stats you need from Etsy to then grow your shop if you don’t try different things. I’ve had plenty of listings that looked similar to competitors in my niche and something customers might like, good SEO, images, etc and still haven’t sold. It’s all about trial and error!

      Just set your store currency to USD and make sure to include shipping info for the US. Etsy will charge you currency conversion fee on your sales, so set your prices accordingly. Your POD provider will also charge you 20% VAT on the base cost of your product, another consideration for your pricing. You might want to use American English spelling in your listings. That's about it! It's worth knowing that Etsy personalizes search results for buyers depending on their location, so your UK based store will get lower ranking than a US store when a US buyer searches for products.

    I've been on Etsy for 9 months. I've been watching videos every day for most of that time. I'm researching trying to find good, unsaturated, high demand niches, improving my design skills, using excellent mockups, etc., and I'm still only making about 8 sales per month for the past 5-6 months. I work 3-8 hours a day on my shop. I have over 750 listings. I feel like I'm doing everything right, and yet somehow others are making thousands while I'm in the red. Why??? I'm so passionate about this shop. I feel like I know enough about running a store that I could start my own UA-cam channel and teach how to do it at this point, but I'm still not making sales. Every time I think I've figured out what I can improve, little to nothing changes. It's so frustrating! Calling 1.5 months a slow start is so hard to hear.

      I’m so sorry to hear that your are feeling frustrated Hannah! I know my student Shawna had a really similar start to you if you haven’t seen her interview, I think it would be really helpful! One of the things that started to make a big difference for her was getting into group listings if you haven’t gotten into those! And honestly a lot of my success has come from really “saturated” niches like teachers, nurses, bachelorette shirts etc. I would stop focusing on only unsaturated niches because they are unsaturated because there is less demand. If you can find ways to add your unique value to saturated niches, then you can get a lot of sales!! Usually when I see stores that aren’t getting the sales they want, it’s typically the designs that are the problem. I would spend a little while looking at bestsellers and how you can incorporate similar elements into your designs in new ways. Just do more research on what the bestsellers are doing in general and see if you can reverse engineer it. What are they pricing their items, what mock-ups are they using etc

      @PreetiS777 8 місяців тому

      @diannewingender1440 Printify charges you at the time the order is processed. So if you have them processing as received, the charge will be per order as soon as they receive. If you set it up at processing at a certain time of the day for all orders received until that time, they will charge the full amount for all orders. In simpler words, the charges are linked to the processing of the order and not the final shipping. You need to have a payment method linked to the account for automatic charges.
