IMO, it's the best channel for people who want to PLAY D2.
Not just high end rune drops and ladders runs and min/maxed Uber builds.

agreed. it's why i hate channels like llama. they're equivalent of out of touch millionaires that have no idea how much a gallon of milk costs.
Ik set is amazing. I used to make a killing by buying the set early ladder and doing D key runs on hardcore LOD because everyone else was afraid to do them. I could trade them for ist early on because there were so few.
For hardcore min maxing things like defense and life is an absolute must. I would love to have been able to at least upgrade them helm for a free 110 defense, then jam it full of perfect rubies to stay alive and farm away on keys.

the very first item i thought of when i heard we could upgrade sets is deaths belt...especially now that you can easily gamble it, i think i'll definitely be using it more in my playthroughs
I would like to add this guide. Death's hand and Death's guard can easily be obtained from gamble at level 13. I spent only 700-800K for each piece. So if you have main character 80+ lvl , you can get enough gold and play gamble with 13 lvl twinc.
There are only 3 thing for easy gambling at start season : Death's parts and Gull dagger.

Hsaurus boots and belt might be worth upgrading. Massive amounts of attack rating bonus for two set items.
Great subject. No cringe at all unlike a lot of other D2 content. I think the video could have been shortened a bit though 53min is pretty steep and I had to skip past a lot because I mostly just wanted a summary.

Cow King would be nice for a gold find barbarian on Classic or Hardcore, but get outclassed on regular play by only 1 runeword armor that cost only a Lem. (Wealth), I love that set, very usefull for a martial art playthrough.
I was very surprised Arctic wasn't the best! I love the deaths set bad the sword can't keep up
aldurs set for the new werebear fireclaw build. death gloves and boots, 2 angelic rings and ammy, and a rhyme shield. end game capable setup with relatively low cost. DO IT.
While Death gives 30 IAS, keep in mind you can have 10% IAS on belt (goldwrap or nosferatu), and with 20 (or 25 for IK) from gloves means you can achieve 30-35 IAS with some other setups as well.
Aye, but the combo of everything deaths has to offer is pretty amazing.

My ww/double swing barb is using lava gout, and upped goldwrap for 30% ias/enchant with ravenfrost.
Death’s seems somewhat appealing.
Death is powerful but it's slow, a similar option that I think is actually better is an eth Flesh ripper Fanged knife with a Zod

Tbh you could just up the death belt. The extra def is whatever, but 4 pot rows and cbf is so good for cheap
as long as it doesn't cost extra stats no reason not to imo.

@@GGMentor well it costs runes and pgems. I mean I don't feel like defense is that important, esp on a belt. Like I wouldn't spend mid runes on upgrading from a dh sash to a sw sash. I might be mistaken but I think Mythic swords have a pretty high str and dex req. By the time you get to that high of a level there are better things you can use in glove and sword spot, but if that's all you have available to use them yeah for sure up it

In all seriousness though...let's talk about the real issue here. 20 character max limit. If I could just buy more copies, I would. But from my understanding you only get 20 per battlenet account. You can only have 1 battlenet account linked to your battle.net launcher. So you need to have a 2nd computer for a 2nd copy? Have you done any prior vids on this by chance you can point me to? I filled up my 20 characters on SC several months ago. Switched to single player and did around 80% of the holy grail. Now i'm trying HC out and I've had to delete a couple of SC characters. I'm frustrated

@Jason Hardin Yep that's exactly what I did and it worked. Had to setup a secondary e-mail account as well since bnet launcher ties to your email but this did work for me. I've switched to HC for everything but dueling these days....doing a SP HC grail right now (63% so a long way to go still). Beyond ready for s2 ladder launch

what about angelic? That set has some bonkers setbonuses and upping the armor makes it sort of viable for alot of content. The sabre might last abit longer aswell, specially if yer running enchant/fireclaws/tesla
It didn't upgrade very well.
The lack of enhanced damage on the weapon made it upgrade very poorly.
And the lack of enhanced defense on the armor the same.
If I had to rank it similarly perhaps #15

Whitstans guard Luna is really good for Hardcore before you have a StormShield. Also Moser’s Blessed shield Luna upgrade.
The problem with some of these set upgrades though is not so much the str req, but the lvl reqs kill the items alot of times, getting to use your set item at lvl 80ish means it is almost guraranteed to compete with legendaries or high tier sets.
Like the arctics. If you max the body armour, you cannot wear the "good early" belt for roughly 30 levels. Or irathahas helmet wearable at lvl 78. There is ALOT of good options available at lvl 78. Hsarus belt lvl 68. Not the stats you'd be looking for at those levels.
Some of us are just hoarders. We are so fixated on completing a set, that this is a dream, come true!
(Especially, if you've been playing since before Runewords.)

I think anything in tier 2 or 3 because of all the attributes you can get as opposed to tier one sets.
I think Hsarsus belt+boots and angelic combo will give you tonnes of attack rating with empty shield, gloves, armor, slots. for my opinion this is not 11 in tier list, maybe a bit higher
The attack rating is what made it 11 on the list.
What kept it from being ranked higher imo is the lack of anything else good on them

dude, this 30% IAS thing is a cool story, but you overlook any 20% IAS gloves (now this mod is available on magic, rare, crated and unique pieces) with nosferatu coil which will give you 30% for the same 2 pieces of gear. thanks for the vid.
Block chance at 99 is 2.5% block chance per 5 dex, or 5% per 10 and it always rounds up to 3 and down to 2 then up to 3 and down to 2 again in a cyclical manner.
Ooh so it's actually a different calculation with holy shield active, that's very interesting.
About attack speed. 20 on gloves 10 on belt. Done. But yeah ifc deaths set other bonusses are amazing
ahh but you can't get 20 on gloves 10 on belt and Cannot be frozen. So even if you used 20 gloves with goldwrap or nosferatu's you would still need another slot for cannot be frozen on a ring, helmet, body or shield slow.
So 20% gloves + Nosferatu's is not equivalent to 2 piece deaths.
I've found the arctic set a dozen time except for the arctic furs. I still haven't came across it
You find the furs mainly during act 1 normal, try there.
Increasing the level of the cow set while considering the static field proc feels counter-intuitive. Upgrading is mostly done for increased defense/damage and increasing defense (especially for barbarians w/ shout/iron skin) means they'll get hit far less. The struck proc happens less when you "evade" their attacks because of defense.
Looking for Magic Find, I find the 125% from the set is small considering Skullder's Ire, and it gets worse for a barb body with the IK helm's high MF% (or any char with Tarnhelm). Looking at later game MF, if they're not using Skullder's, they're still going to consider Enigma for teleport with a 1-99%/lvl MF. As an alternative that's also a set item with low requirements and good bonuses and MF%, Tal Rasha's body has 88 +24 from a ptopaz bumps it over 110.
To make matters worse, the set was only collectible in NM/Hell cow level when you would find the set less useful (because collecting it required your cow king not being killed before).
The long story short is that if you have the full set and use it in early leveling (without upgrading), it can be a decent item. Assassins may want to up the boots once for a small increase to the required level for better kick damage but that's probably the only important part to upgrade. Even if you upgrade the full set once, it's probably fine but the second upgrade feels too costly when considering materials and the loss of static field triggers. Let's also not forget that static field only works for the first portion of a monsters health and becomes ineffective once lowered to that point so less triggers includes making the later triggers (from increased defense) obsolete.
You are incorrect.
As a paladin with over 20,000 Defense, and 75% block chance I utilize an item called Medusa's gaze that only has a 10% chance to cast lower resistance when struck.
I too used my logical brain and thought well this won't work on my mega defense blocking paladin.
Boy was I wrong, and at only 10% it procced all the damn time during every encounter.
There are multiple factors here that you are not understanding and I didn't understand either at the time.
#1 defense and block chance do not stop elemental damage.
The majority of attacks in the game have some kind of elemental damage component.
Many spells are considered missile attacks which will trigger the effect.
This is easily verifiable with Amazon slow missile ability which only slows down 'missile" attacks.
Which includes lightning, fire ball, fire bolt, ect, ECT
What is considered a missile attack is kinda rediculous and most of them do not get checked by defense or block chance.
#2 running negates all of your defense, and caps your block chance at 25%
Most people don't bother to walk during combat so they will ruin any defensive advantage they have anyway.
#3 A 25% chance is a lot higher then you think.
Take Dracul's grasp as an example, it has a 5% chance to cast on striking.
Yet it is essentially always up. 25% is 5 times more likely to trigger than the 5% on Dracul's.
#4 in practice, the static field procs goes off all the time in just about every encounter. I know because I have tested it.
@@GGMentor I don't know. I remember it being less inspiring when I tried to have fun with custom items before so I tried out a high def barb.
I used a 100% ctc struck Frost Nova L1 sc. Other gear included ebug Stone sacred, ebug Dream guardian, ebug Sanctuary troll, eth Tgods+, eth Hellmouth, eth 200%ed rare myrmidon, Fortitude weapon, Metalgrid, 2x Ravenfrost, Torch, Anni, 9x +warcry gcs. L37+1 Shout (470%), L28+1 Iron Skin (310%), and dex for 75% block. I forgot Normal Merc's Defiance L18 but nothing was hitting me that shouldn't have disregarded defense. 86,902 defense with 75% block.
The melee and ranged units weren't triggering it unless they made it by the 5% chance to hit and the 25% chance not to be blocked. As for other projectiles (not arrows), I had variance. I don't know if it lines up with theamazonbasin's list on the struck proc page.
Didn't avoid Defense: Skeleton Archer/Vile Archer/Burning Dead Archer arrows & Spike Beast/Soul Killer darts & Slinger javelins & Death Brawler digthing (includes Fire/etc. Enchanted boss packs who would apply elemental damage) & Fiend[ltng bats] shock attacks
Didn't proc it: Fallen Shaman's fire projectiles & Hollow One's magic projectiles & Hell Temptress's magic projectiles & Dark Lord fireball/meteor/firewall skills & Gargoyle Trap's fireball projectiles & Andariel's projectiles & Tomb Viper poison projectiles (unless Tomb Viper is like arrows)
Did proc it: Mishapen orbs projectiles & Black Soul's lightning projectiles & Bone Mage's cold projectiles & Horror Mage's poison projectiles & Demon Gremlin fire projectiles & Serpant Magus bone spear projectiles
At the start of testing, the Serpent Magus bone spear projectiles weren't triggering it for the first few groups. After testing it against others, it started procing against their bone spear projectiles every time (including in new games).
As for how running impacted me getting hit, I'd say it did and didn't impact it. Most of the time, I'd move out of melee range as they were in their animation and not get hit despite having the 0-defense frames. Ranged/magic projectiles also failed to hit me when I was running around because I was avoiding them so that prevented them from hitting me as well. Monsters usually clump up on you so when you are fighting, you don't run around between them (or at least I didn't). Furthermore, the 75% block chance also applied on the times I was about to be hit running so I felt like me running didn't really open me up (unless I was trying to skip groups of monsters and ran "through their square" (D&D term, 5-ft square attack of opportunities).
I don't expect people to aim for high defense so maybe it matters less since most people won't run Normal A2 Defiance Mercs, more than 1 point in Iron Skin, a Fortitude weapon, and stack Shout that heavily. I feel its a downside to reduce it based on how static field works because it's a diminishing return skill that hits 0 damage quickly and any damage you do before it hits that diminishing return is "voided" because of how static field works.
At the end of the day, it's up everyone how they interpret the data. It's not too expensive to test the upgraded cow items after the increase in rune drop chances and the restriction on the cow level (king's death) was removed in D2R.
I tried again with the cow set under 2 variations (baster tiers vs. max tier). Botd eZerk + zerk Grief, Highlords, BK, Ravenfrost, Nosferatu, blood gloves (heavy vs vampirebone) (9x warcry gc). Iron Skin 1pt, Shout 1pt.
I did several runs through Chaos & Baal runs each (not skipping the walks).
While using the lower tier stuff, I noticed it proc'd about 10 times total to/inside Chaos Sanctuary (where monsters wouldn't guarantee hit like bones spears/lightning/etc. On the way to Baal, I noticed Soul Killers had 60% chance to hit me and when they showed up, I'd get a lot of benefit from their darts proccing static field. Baal's wave 2 mages proc'd it like crazy and wave 5 destruction beasts were thick.
Running with the higher tier, I faced a difference when Shout was active and inactive. When Shout wasn't active, static field proc'd about as often as when I was using the lower-tier. On the other hand, the higher tier with Shout active, I noticed a reduction in how often it proc'd.
Unlike the shield run, I was dual wielding and using Frenzy/Double Swing so that definitely had a massive impact on reducing the cowset's usefulness. Frenzy spreads damage around so it quickly voids the benefits of static field. To make matters worse, Frenzy hits things so fast that it puts monsters in melee range (or melee range-adder range) into hit recovery-yes, monsters can enter hit recovery.
If we drop casters/archers (damage avoidance) and the barbarian as a consideration for using the set (from its crazy defense buffs and damage-spread and ww-cannot-cast-frames), the upgraded versions are probably a decent farming choice for the other melee classes (assassins, druids, and paladins).
@@kyled00m I am already noticing issues with you testing. Inconsistencies between my own.
For instance you say fallen shamens fire won't trigger the effect which is the exact opposite of my testing.
I literally have a video up where I use the shamans to trigger a when struck effect.
Also block chance is capped at 25% while running but you state it as if it's 75%.
You can still block while running but it is far less likely with a 25% cap.
Also static does benefit frenzy. Anything that softens up the monsters will make frenzy work better overall.
@@GGMentor I closed my browser in the middle of replying so I had to write this again with a keyboard shortcut I don't know of.
When I did the high defense testing, I sat in front of a couple different shamans (including Bishiboshi's pack). Although I did see some blocks, I also saw other times where the block animation didn't play and the 100% struck proc didn't occur. There's a possibility that Shaman fireballs are ranged attacks (like arrows/darts/javelins) with high attack rating but I don't know. I also went back during the cowset testing but that was arguably with a 25% chance so there's a possibility it just didn't happen. Looking at the abnormality that was the Serpent Magus bone spear projectiles, I think there are definitely abnormalities but I'm not a D2 expert.
I mentioned I reached 75% block, not that I maintained the full 75% block while running. Combined with my dodging of projectiles and melee range, and blocking still occurred running, the already low likelihood of being the when struck while running was further reduced.
Also, I found my life reaching pretty low in players1 hell despite having 7,000+ life and around 70+% all resistances. Though I'm not a D2 Master, I've been playing D2 for a long time and I believe I'm at least above average when it comes to playing games so my life fluctuating so low on a maximum points to Vitality Lv99 barbarian dissuades me from recommending using the cowset to others when running around melee monsters and running into projectiles on purpose being a likely requirement to force the Static Field proc at the start of fights is necessary to make use of the head-body-boot slots that are otherwise flexible slots based on the many options available.
Frenzy and Static do not work well together-I feel like they're nonbos (non combo).
Static field does currentlife%damage that is modified by lightning resist and stops working below 50%maxlife. You want it to proc before you start dealing damage to a monster because it stops working at that 50% (in Hell).
I believe Frenzy has 2 distinctions that make the Static Field proc worse:
(1) Monster interrupts
Assumptions: No monsters that disregard defense. No always-struck projectiles.
Frenzy has frenzy_stacks that increase your attack speed so even with low IAS gear, you can easily reach a good number of attacks per second. Because you're attacking multiple monsters, and assuming you're using weapons that are decent/good for where you are, you should be noticing monsters entering hit recovery or event having their attacks interrupted mid-swing. Between hit recovery and attack interrupts, the number of attacks that could otherwise trigger your when struck proc goes down.
For example, when monsters have a 5% chance to strike you and you're surrounded by 16 monsters, your combined chance to be hit once is 55.99%. Assuming you put 10 into hit recovery/interrupted their attacks, only 6 have a chance to hit you making for a combined chance to hit you once of 26.49% which is a far cry from the nearly 56%. Considering Static Field procs once in 4 attacks, I increased the #ofDice needed to roll 1/20 to 4 on the statistic calculator and the chances dropped to 0.7% and 0.0087% respectively for the hits to cause one proc. Of course, you can definitely see 4 attacks in a row proccing a 25% chance 4 times but that doesn't reflect the 1/4 probability.
The statistics calculator used: 20-sided dice (5% 1/20), number of dice (attackers, 16 & 6 in the example above), Rule At least X dice must roll#, Value roll# (1 for 5%), and Target#ofDice (1 for any 1 to hit, 4 for the 25%x4=100%). I think I used it properly but I'm not a math-god like those I've met before.
(2) Spreading Damage
Assumptions: No monsters that disregard defense. No always-struck projectiles.
Frenzy spreads damage across multiple monsters because it doesn't focus a single monster like most skills do. Because of this feature, the Frenzy skill is bad for killing numerous monsters and great for killing a single monster. Those doing Single-player(PlugY) Uber Tristram aren't doing a real run because Ladder UTrist bosses summon legions of monsters, and although Frenzy is used to build frenzy_stacks, Double Swing is the attack used to kill the Uber trio on a Frenzy barbarian.
As Frenzy spreads damage, the health of multiple monsters in melee range are reduced rather than one to three being killed in the same time frame. A couple (2 or more) Static Field procs are often enough to replace the early spread damage entirely (SF deals less since it has less HP but it if had the missing HP, it can often result in similar life values after the SF occur without the damage from Frenzy). To make matters worse, Static Field stops working after 50% so when your Frenzy puts monsters at or below 50% before Static Field procs, the proc does nothing.
Since Frenzy and Static Field both aim to spread damage across multiple monsters, and Static Field is made far worse by already damaging monsters, it can be argued that Frenzy either makes Static Field worse or altogether useless. To make matters worse, having 15+% Crushing Blow from Goblin Toe, Gore Rider, Guillaume's Face, or other sources, Frenzy could easily apply a replacement single-target Static Field across all the monsters in melee range at a more reliable rate.
In my opinion, between the increased defense barbarians get from Iron Skin and Shout (even 1 point each with a few +skills), the risk players take, point (1) where monsters are interrupted, and point (2) where Static Field "fights" for the same damage done by Frenzy in the early part of fighting many monsters, using the cowset for its Static Field proc isn't a reasonable consideration for Frenzy barbarians.
I forget where I put this but the Lying Character Screen (LCS) was mentioned in my original reply and I brought up quotes about the accuracy of monsters from onderduiker (of theamazonbasin):
"Base monster level is determined by a value in MonStats.txt for each monster in Normal, but in Nightmare and Hell it's determined by area level (unless the monster is a boss). However, chance to hit displayed by the character screen still uses the MonStats.txt value in Nightmare and Hell (it's a happy coincidence that both Oblivion Knights and the Chaos Sanctuary are level 85 in Expansion Hell)."
"Monster chance to hit displayed by the character screen does not take into account any AR bonuses, and may use incorrect values for both monster level and base AR. I did a fair amount of research and testing while working on the Amazon Basin Diablo II wiki's Attack section recently and, since I didn't note any differently, -% Defence from Conviction and the Defence Curse cast by Succubi, Stygian Furies and Baal should affect displayed chance to hit (since displayed defence is affected, and this seems to be what is used to calculate displayed chance to hit your character)."
As a simple thought to your reference to 20,000 defense, this might explain why you might be hit more even if your LCS shows 5% to be hit and thus increase your struck procs compared to what you expected.
onderduiker's quote references Hell area levels and monster modifiers I believe (ie: Champions 75% ar, Fire Enchanted x2 ar, Mana Burn x2 ar, Spectral hit x2 ar, Extra strong 25% ar).
I don't know if D2R fixed the LCS yet.
Apparently upgrading a set is for an online character, I upgraded death's sash for my single player offline character and now all I can do is look at it in my stash and I have enough stat points to use it and character level
The level displayed is bugged, assume +5 levels
2 pc hsarus has a small place in the melee duels community for that ar bonus. WIll be cool to upgrade them for that extra def. Unfortunately can't see working the shield in for the cbf though.

@@GGMentor Yes, I watched that video. Some of these areas were so low in density that it wasn't worth farming. It could be fun to go back over it to see if they've actually improved these areas.

What are the recipes for upgrade? The same rune and perfect gems as regular items?
It depends on what you're upgrading, and what tier the item is.
For instance, grading an armor from normal to exceptional quality is shael rune Tal rune P diamond.
But upgrading an exceptional armor to elite quality is ko lem p diamond.
Weapons have a different recipe and each tier has a different recipe
Is the 2-pc deaths set really better than something like Nosferatus + any 20% ias gloves (even lava gout / laying of hands). Questionable. Enjoyed the video! I think I only heard one error and it was just incorrect math at the end when talking about the poison resistances on the 2-pc deaths set (you said 75%...really it's 65%). Incredibly detailed video, thank you!

@@GGMentor 51:05 i re-listened. You said it correctly like 15 times in a row and then one flaw/perhaps mis-speak (resistance and reduce are pretty similar). Only error I noticed out of all of this which is pretty insane. Fantastic run down on these sets! I would love to see more additional attributes added to the set pieces in the game that aren't ever used. Overall though, I'm happy we are getting the opportunity to improve them at all!
Neither Nosferatu's nor any of those gloves gives you cannot be frozen though, which is hands down the most important stat for any class that is dependent on attack speed.

LoH is a bit of an unfair comparison though since it is BiS for almost every physdamage class due to the humongous damage boost and resists on it.

Patch 2.4 is live and I tried upgrading IK gauntlets, belt, and boots.
No go.
The restricted the new upgrade recipes to ladder only.
I'm surprised the deaths set was number one but not surprised by what it can offer for high-end gameplay. I was also very surprised that ik said beat tals set. Because you don't see many IKS at Barb's at all. Or even older set. But in terms of sayings there's not that many stellar ones are worthwhile. To note with desk set with the swords and put in hell ruins in them and standing a barbarian double swing for level 6 is broken. I built a bar with two hell ruins with the the swords for death swords double swing you can kill /clear players ain't tristram by yourself easily. You don't even need to worry about your potions slots because you have like 24% life still.
To Understand the rankings you only need to understand that this was a ranking of the most useful upgrades basically. Not the most useful sets.
Tals would most definitely be higher than IK Set in a VS. But IK Set upgrades much better than tals does.

if you cant put runewords into set armors. what's the best to put there? unique jewels?
That varies wildly depending on your needs as a character.
For instance a sorceress using tals set who is specialized in lightning would probably put lightning facets.
A paladin Zealer focusing on speed of attacks might use 15% ias jewels or shaels runes in his weapon.
A Necromancer might put um runes in his armor for more resistances.
A energy shield sorceress might put sol runes to increase her damage reduced by stat.
There is no direct answer because every situation is unique.
Think of sockets as a way to customize something to how you need it to be.
If you need to attack faster there is a jewel or rune for that. If you need to hit harder there is a rune or jewel for that, and if you need something to be indestructible there is a rune for that.
As you begin to form a more solid under of how your character is built and what he needs you should understand better what to put in those sockets.

I like the Video on the best Upgrades here. However, I feel like you could use some feedback.
First, try to get a little more to the point. Sometimes you're talking the same stuff over and over again.
Second, I would appreciate a general idea of when an upgrade is worth it. In my opinion, that is usually the case for
Weapons with high ed%
Body armours with high ed%
Belts from normal to exceptional for the slots
Boots for the kick damage if they are good in the first place
Anything else if you're using it anyways and the upgrade isn't hurting by higher requirements
Maybe shields for block, but that is rarely a thing
Missing : Natalyas boots

As for nats boots I did feel that was a good upgrade just not worthy of the top 10.
The reason for this is they would be used in the end game, and as such shadow dancers or upped gore riders would be a better choice.
Though I do feel if you specifically were using them for your assassin the upgrade would be viable.
I probably would have ranked them #12
The kick Damage btw goes from 24-52 to 9-118
Their stiff competition is 83-149
Hi GGM, I have tried to upgrade sets but it doesn't work.
So the set upgrade recipe doesn't work for non ladder.
It does work in offline, and ladder.
It was restricted from ladder back when they first released it.
What's the defense if you upgraded Arcana's Tricks and used the full set? (Might be nice for a Druid.)

Is it possible to upgrade tals mask AFTER I have it socketed with a ptopaz? And if it is, does the socket clear out?
Tal Mask and arctic furs seem like great single items to upgrade, though I agree with the comments on Death's hands you are actually very wrong you are getting 30 ias between the gloves and belt so goldwrap plus any number of 20 ias gloves can do the same. granted once you add in cannot be frozen and the res its a pretty nice combo
If you are willing to sacrifice your belt slot for 10% ias which most people do not.
Would it be good or not to use crescent moon rune word alongside cow kings set?
Yeah it could work, the -enemy lighting resistance would help the static field on the armor as well.
A bit redundant, but one thing is for sure everything would be fully staticed down

@@GGMentor thanks for the reply. I also found after massive digging that the %to demon dmg doesn't work on kicks from a very comprehensive old guide so unless it's changed in d2r this is definitely the best and will be my opening gear slot for a long while.
Question do we need to buy a new set items when 2.4 comes out or will my existing Arctic armor upgrade with it
All The sets will have 2.4 stats with 2.4

Ladder, and single player only. Non ladder doesn't get it.
However you could obtain upgraded set items by creating a ladder character doing the upgrade and waiting for the ladder reset.
Once the Character becomes a non ladder character you could transfer and do whatever you want with the items

@@DoomedNemesis ladder has, ladder only runewords, ladder only horadric cube recipes, and believe it or not ladder is actually a more difficult game mode.
such a missed opportunity that when upgrading only armor and damage values go up. dont items have an ilvl that could make their stats scale with upgrading? that would also mix up late game gearing and break up the almost set in stone bis items since 2003

I think you can wear both Hsarus and Berserker at the same time.
9:54 the chest armor requires 140 STR to put on, no? the bare minimum for the shield would be 140? because you can't wear the chest armor without 140 str (Hard points)((not including charms or other gear that gives STR)) not 128 STR.. otherwise you can't put on the chest piece.
How long until the ladder starts ? Also i see people selling everything under the sun on ebay for diablo 2. Is this legal ?

If your Normal armor rolls max armor value, then upgrade it to Nightmare armor; will the Nightmare version carry over the max armor roll, or will it re-roll the armor value?
I'm sure you point it out somewhere, but it must have flewn above my head.
it rerolls based on the armors unique item identifier which you can't see, not the armor value while in normal.

Normal -> Exceptional
Exceptional -> Elite
Elite is the last tier
imagine wearing a fortitude just to proc frozen armor, then swtich back to your main build which is full IK lol

Ya grizz is wrong man its 38 extra str needed to use full set and thats not including wots in socs . And for at most 150 def
150 Defense to a paladin using Holy Shield is more like 750, and If they also put points into defiance synergy it goes up even more. Then can be further multiplied by using Fort to proc Chilling armor.

#1 The sets actually have changes to them that most websites do not have yet. Things that only exist on 2.4 PTR
#2 ton's of people are interested in the subject If your not that's fine
#3 Upgrading them and trying them out on characters is a bit different then just looking at numbers on a website.
