@@BoombapArt damnnn dude so you’re saying you just chop up let’s say a sample that’s at 65 bpm, might not even alter the bpm via stretch or pitch, and then just play back chops along with drums at let’s say 90 bpm?!
@@BoombapArt sorry if that’s a confusing question! I find it very difficult to work with samples that are substantially different bpm from my track without first changing the sample to have a similar bpm :(
@@Will-cr9uh That’s exactly what I do, and been doing for quite some time 👴🏻. One trick if you’re sampling records is to have a drum loop going in the background and pitch the record as you go before sampling. 👊🏻

We’re you sampling from the vinyl directly into the 101?
Sup man! No, I sampled into Adobe Audition and transferred the chops to the SD card.. can’t sample directly into the 101, but you can with the 707! 👌🏻
BoombapArt Awesome! Thank you so much for that information!
Angelo Macareno No problem my friend! 👊🏻
Dope Beat and set up! Did you slice the sample before putting it into the mc-101 or does it have a slice function now?
James Buckley Sup man! Thanks 🙏🏻 Sliced it up beforehand.. it doesn’t have that function, but you can trim the samples now with the latest firmware 😊
Great video. New sub from me.
Thank you my friend, welcome to the channel 👊🏻
My man this is 🔥🔥 how do you increase the sample bpm to match your drum track? Time stretch or pitch up or both? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Sup man! Thanks a lot 🙏🏻 I only pitch my samples to fit my drums, haven’t time stretch over 20 years.. sometimes it can be tricky, but it’s a back and forth game between pitching the samples and adjusting the bpm slightly. 👊🏻
@@Will-cr9uh it can be difficult if you’re working with longer loops, that might work the first bar and then gets off sync.. but then you chop it up in pieces! As I said, been pitching my samples like this forever and it’s not that difficult. Matter of taste, how much are you willing to pitch up/down to make it fit and adjusting the bpm.
are you recording into a DAW or directly into the roland mc 101?
As for sampling goes, I’m recording into a DAW.. chop up my 16 and transferring via SD card. 👊🏻
You should tryout the novation circuit
오재화 yeah, could be a nice addition to the setup! 👊🏻
Wow...can you bring your own drum samples in too?
Yes you can! 💪🏻 Btw, I have a FREE drumpack on my website boombapart.com 😉
You sampled directly in it?
No I didn’t. I chopped up the song in Logic and loaded them onto my SD card and then imported the samples.
did you figure out how to relax the quantization on this thing
kris g Not sure exactly what you mean, but when I’m recording I have the quantization off.. and when you’re sequencing you can offset the notes.
Which is this turntable?
