I will definitely keep the Nautilus. As an owner of both a 5711 and 5167 the bracelet of the Nautilus and like you said the history and Gerald Genta design always makes me choose it.
The Nautilus bracelet is also very versatile being able to dress up or down but I always find wearing the 5167 in a suit weird due to the rubber strap

The Aquanaut every time. The case design is the better one and it is more restrained, in my humble opinion and the GMT implementation is perfect: It can be hidden showing a clean dial, or shown in all its glory when needed. A successful design. Thanks for the comparison.

Both watches are absolutely perfect. 5712 is a clear winner wit the microrotor movement which is absolutely superb. Personally I have the hots for 5524 TravelTime and the thinnest Aquanaut 5168. But only dreaming here. Godd episode. Thumbs up.

  • @Batrasagar
    @Batrasagar 5 років тому +9

Very much obvio reason to choose 5712 because of its more modern and formal look And also in my opinion the rubber straps of aquanaut are not really that sensual when it comes to passing on such a prestige calatrava to your coming generations but the steal case.
Another major highlight is the leap year calender in 5712. Wearing a watch which carries all of ones memory throughout the year implies the feeling of gratitude towards the watch. To me honestly nautilus wins my heart every single time because of its historic meaning and much because of its capability to follow a legacy.

The case and bracelet on the 5712 look better, but the travel time movement is more intriguing. The nautilus travel time looks way too busy on the dial unfortunately. The aquanaut version is balanced. If I had to choose it would be a nautilus, but rather the 5726. The aquanaut would be welcome as the more subtle looking travel watch.
Great in depth video once again!

prices are ridiculously high. when converted to INR, it is a cool 30 L ruba.
that will buy you sports suv or a 2 bedroom flat or 790 grams of pure gold .

With that much action in the automatic rotor, you probably don't even need to ever unscrew the crown on this watch, yes? You can wind it and change the time all while keeping the crown screwed down.

Even if i could afford the Nautilus the Aquanaut for me , it has a cleaner and more usable complication. The Nautilus has a better case back aesthetics but we don't wear our watches the other way around .

I generally prefer the nautilus over the aqaunaut. However, you comparing my least favourite nautilus over my favourite aquanaut. Over the two watches, I prefer the aquanaut. Just my opinion. I love the 5711 and the 5980.

it's funny because as someone who's a big 5711 (3700, 3800) fan, i can't stand seeing additional complications on the nautilus line- it just uglies the aesthetic, imo... the one one i'd personally somewhat tolerate is the 5980, but i'd still take the plain jane 5711 over it any day of the week. as for the aqua, as much as i adore the 5167 (and 5060 + 5065 even more), i find that complications actually look great on this model, the travel time being one of the nicest pieces in the sports patek lineup imo. a tiffany dial travel time is a grail. that said, i will happily settle for a 5167a if/when my name ever gets called on the list.

There is a very fine line between collecting and hoarding watches. Care must be exercised.

I want to purchase my first high end watch, what should i aim for as a starter?
i am leaning towards AP or Nautilus, but people for some reason say you should sway towards rolex as a starter

What sort of work do you do? If you're younger in your profession, you may not want to flex as hard as an AP or PP. Could send the wrong message to higher ups and/or clients.

@@iammars142 I am the creative director/designer of a fashion brand. I am mostly around other CEO's so flexing isn't the biggest issue, since they all kinda wear high end watches.

@@gentleEvening Sounds like you should just buy whatever you like then. I was thinking about the flex more from an IB perspective.
