The Paint Brush Tool in Adobe Animate allows you to take your drawings and turn them into manipulatable brushstrokes. On the surface this seems pretty simple, but you can use this in a bunch of different ways to create all sort of simple, quick and powerful animations, such as a character's arm, hair or tail - all the way through to whole objects like spears, plants, or...anything you can think of really! Let's do it!

This was fantastic. Very, very useful little hack. I'm slowly getting into frame by frame, normally I just use tweens, but this will help big time. Great tutorial

Glad you like it and thanks for being a member!
great tutorial!
Could this technique be used to create a walk cycle? If so, Would this be the a worthy tutorial? BTW thanks for the great info.
I feel like this is what the animators on Amazing World of Gumball might use
not sure if I missed it, but the 'create paint brush' function doesn't show up when I right click, and i'm not understanding when it's supposed to. I made a basic line and it didn't show up. Made a rectangle, but the only thing the create brush function would show up on was the stroke for the rectangle once I moved the filled area out the way
Is a 2022 feature, might not be there in older versions
I have the newest one. I needed to break apart (ctrl-b) the graphic
Whoa I didn’t know this, thank you
I'm waiting here~ la la la la!
😦 This us very helpful 😳 thank you so much
Glad it was helpful!
Hi do u hv complete playlist for adobe animate...i really want to learn from u
Amazing tutorial 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderfully
I have one guide option in the stretch between guide. Seems like a bug issue
How did I not know about this magic before now?! 😲
Right!!!
Hey!! Not sure if you’ll see this message years later..! But when I go to chose the option of guide lines it only has one red line to adjust? How do I get two like you have?
Nice one I love this
I'm glad you like it
im waiting here~ la la la la
Blessings Uncle
is this paintbrush available in all Adobe Animate? i dont have in my Adobe Animate.
2021 only I think.
I am using 2017 adobe animate, it has...
Mine is 2021, still doesn't show the paint brush
That is a nice tool tip! Would there be a way to attach the paint brush to the guide line first, and then have it automatically change shape as the guideline changes, as opposed to "painting" the object on each keyframe? Like "flexible bones" effectively.
Don't think so, but you can paint it then use the direct selection tool to move the points for finer control.
U hv 3 brushes there, what do u call the one u r using?
Oh nooo i missed the live. Sorry
I have an idea that i wanted to ask, is it possible or even effective to do a character rig but leave the arms as an asset used with the paintbrush tool? the goal is to have a more fluid arm animation compared to joint to joints.
Of course, whatever works for you :)
You have just made smear frames a billion times easier
Is there a way to not have a stroke turn into a symbol every time you make one? It's been very tedious for me to break apart each symbol so they can all be on the same "layer".
Yes you have object drawing mode turned on. There's a toggle in the tool properties
i tried this but why is it in full black?
Awesome. Is it possible to tween them too?
yes - since it's a stroke, use Shape Tween.
@@keyframer. Thank you.
What he said!
which paintbrush?
WHATTTTTT
First
Hello. Mine doesn't follow the guide layer line. Is there something I missed? Anyway, I'm glad I have found this great tutorial
IM IN MY JUNIOR YEAR OF COLLEGE FOR ANIMATION AND THEY NEVER TAUGHT US THIS I HAVE SO MANY MIXED EMOTIONS I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS BUT SO MAD THEY NEVER EVEN MENTIONED THE ACTUAL PAINT BRUSH TOOL
Hey is there a tool that blends colors together? It’s been months of searching. I want to get better at shading and lighting
