Hey everyone, going to add this comment for frequently asked questions. I will continue to add to this as needed.
Q: I don't see the auto lip sync button.
A: You will a recent edition of Adobe Animate. This feature was added to the 2020 version of the program.
Q: I can't hear the audio on the main timeline.
A: You will often need to place the audio both in the imbedded timeline AND the main timeline in order to hear it while animating between the different timelines.
Q: Can this work with different sets of mouths?
A: Yes, one way you can achieve this would be to have each mouth set on it's own layer all being synced to the same audio layer. Once they all have interpreted to the audio you could simply delete the keyframes of the set you don't want visible during that part of the VO.
Q: Can I have multiple characters in the scene with lip sync?
A: Yes, if your characters are all inside their own symbols you can place the separated audio track inside those for each character. I would recommend using an audio program like Adobe Audition to mix down each characters separate audio, then a master mix of all the characters. The separate audio for each character would be placed inside that characters symbol, and the master mix audio would be placed on the main timeline, so you can preview while you're animating.
Hey Is There Any Plugin Or Preset Or Method Like This In After Effects?
Please Answer
Hello chitchad , why during lip sync , another body parts that i animate them dont move when i test
I have 2021 version of adobe animate and I can't see the lyp sinc section!
Are you able to do an animation lip sync for me ?
Hello can I create this using cellphone only
I've always just done it manually. It was so time consuming but I can definatly use this to speed things up a bit. Thank you so much
1:27 - Introduction to visemes
1:52 - Visames or mouth shape library
2:24 - Making and setting up a symbol from your mouth shapes
3:33 - Adding label for each keyframes
4:02 - Assigning visemes to the mouth shapes
4:30 - Adding audio
5:17 - Generating the lip sync
AAAAA thank you so much!!! Wish this got pinned or added somewhere
Thank you so much! I was about to legit cry because a vision I had for a lyric video required lips in specific anime style to lip sync and I had no idea how to tackle it. With this video I was able to get it all done! Appreciate you!
Great tutorial. I've been working with animate/flash since the early 2000s and have been synching mouths by ear and never got around to learning to do it automatically. You still need to tweak a few things on your own to get the perfect lip synch but this method makes things so much easier and saves so much time!!!!
Glad this helped! I also go back and modify the automated lip sync as it doesn't always match the VO, but having most of the visemes already keframed is such a fantastic starting point that saves so much time!
very nice and clear, thank you 🙏🏼
Great video Chad, not sure that I’ll ever use this info since I don’t really animate stuff but it was still very informative. Also it was really cool to see cartoon Chad in all his glory. I’m glad you are uploading videos to the main channel again. Keep up the phenomenal work.
Thanks for checking it out! Hopefully I can make these tutorials entertaining to watch even if people aren't interested in being animators. I appreciate your support!
Wish I could like this video 7 times for the 7 times I've followed this tutorial and it's helped me do exactly what I hope to do! Big ups!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I used to draw the lip sync manually every single frame and it would take a long time😅, but this is a real time-saver and looks just as good.
Just used this for my finals project along with other things and got a 100.. Appreciate it man
Congrats on the finals project! 👏
What school do you go to for this ?

Thanks man, so clear!
Thanks for checking out the video.
Thanks ^^
Superb bro
Nice tutorial! 👍 Yes, regular lip-syncing is very tedious, especially when you have long animations or multiple characters as I do in many of my animations. I've been using Flash since 2006. Adobe has come a long way. Question. What if there are multiple characters in a scene? How does this automated lip-sync method work?
If your characters are all inside their own symbols you can place the separated audio track inside those for each character. I would recommend spacing out the audio in something like Audition so the speaking lines have the necessary gaps as not to have the characters overlap each others audio. If the audio doesn't come through outside those characters symbols you could make another audio file that has all speaking lines in one track on the main timeline, that way you could still hear the audio without it affecting any of the characters. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@Chitchadshow Thanks, Chad! I appreciate it!👍
Happy to help!

Thanks for the sub!
I am a super beginner just started 2 days ago and these tutorials are great if you have at least a moderate level of understanding ~ I can not figure out how to just properly import the Lip Sync file into Adobe Animate. I get it I have worked with Illustrator for 30 years and I do the same thing when trying to explain AI to people. Anyway, I will bookmark it and see if I can find another tutorial that starts at the absolute beginning.
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL SO MUCH YOU HELPED ME ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for checking out the channel!
Hi, Thank you very much for this great tutorial. One thing you did not cover that is "JAW" animation with lip sync. Can you please make a tutorial on Jaw animation with lip sync. Thanks again!
Wow....Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
Tq for teaching
This is awesome! I feel like this is obtainable for my skill level. Thank you! Do you know if it will be ditto incorporate hand drawn art to trace and for backgrounds?
Can you make a course or dedicated playlist for this character's full animation?
You r better than all in it do more do walk cycle etc
thanks a lot, keep it up
Thank you
Thank you! :)
You're welcome!
Hello, Good way for illustration, have a question: which software can make auto lip sync easy with camera? thanks
ChitChad, can we use photoshop characters distributed in layers for animating in animate cc? Or just ones from Adobe illustrate?
I am confused a lot regarding same and I don't understand what difference it makes (in working) other than the raster and vector difference.. Please teach the photoshop character animation in animate cc if possible. Thank You 🙏
fantastic. Hopefully adobe can improve this system
I've used Adobe Animate CC while studing for Bachelor of Science (BSC) in Animation&VFX course in a university in Bangalore for 3 years. I found the lip-sync of seagull too in this same software. If you couldn't have shared every Animate Tutorial with us, then we might have forgotten it.
Thanks Chad :)
Thanks for watching!
cool
Please give me advice, can I make synced lips like that and put it over the slightly animated character (insert the video file in Adobe Animate)? Or I should export the synced lips somehow and put it over the animation in after effects?
Thank you for your useful video! ❤
I genuinely hope you reply to this ASAP, for some reason my visemes will cover all images in the lip sync window depending on which is selected.
Example: If I select the neutral mouth in it's frame, only neutral mouths will cover all options in the lip sync window, same goes for each viseme.
Any advice?
Great tutorial thank you, do you think that it will work on something i took a picture of ? for exemple if i took a pic of a teddy bear, will it work on him ?
@chitchadshow how does the chin move with moving lips during lips sync?
When he converts to symbol, the type is not set to Graphic by default, so you have to make sure to set it as Graphic or else Lip Sync wont be an option in the object properties!
Is there any way to save the lip sync so I can use it for a different scene?
Hopefully this will be seen and answered. Haha! Is there a way to lock the mouth to a specific object, so if it moves or scales, they will too? Couldn't figure out what to search to find a video for that.
How could I save this layer, lip synce, for further use in other scence
SUBBED
Thanks!
Does anyone know if there is a way to do this over a rig? Like where you do auto lip sync, and move the mouth within each frame so it matches up with the head if the head is moving? Hope this makes sense
CAN I DO THIS FOR MULTI CHATACTER and will it also work for moving characters
Can you do this in after effects as well?
How do you animate the jaw along with the mouth?
Hey Is There Any Plugin Or Preset Or Method Like This In After Effects?
Please Answer
Is there a way to automate expressions? Such as eyes and eye brows?
Hi, thank you very much for that. Can you please tell me how much would you charge per minute? I started doing this for someone and I wanted to know how much would a professional like yourself charge a customer for one minute of manual lip sync(without animation of the body, only lips). If you can give me an estimate, it would help me a lot, thank you very much.
i like lip syncing by hand because it looks smoother
i have adobe animate 2021 v21.0.7.42652 but the rest of the visemes don't appear in frame picker. just one symbol. what's going on?
I wonder if there is a way to make this kinda thing in live2d so I can use this method to talk on livestreams
is there a way to do that in adobe after affects?
I was replacing an audio file which already had lip sync to it. Now, I got the new file to lip sync to a point. The new audio is longer than the old one. the lip sync works until it gets to the length of the old audio file, then stops the lip syncing. How do I get the lip sync to continue the whole new audio file?
Thanks, I feel more confident giving this an attempt now! :)
P.S. I think they're probably pronounced "vi"-"zemes" like after "pho"-"nemes"..?
Is it possible to create automatic lip sync in after effects?
روعة
Thanks a lot!
where's the 'Th' mouth pose
Gold.
Thanks for watching!
Hello there 👋 i have one question the lip syncing property panel is not appearing in my window even though i clicked on visemes. What shall i do?
