I love that Teenage Wrist named themselves after a song by Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs, Twilight Singers) called Teenage Wristband (get it; Teenage Wrist, band? LOL)
I didn’t know that! So cool! Thanks! Amazing band
I also did a video on the 31st of last year on my other channel. Awesome to see someone else posting a list. Love your videos and your album. Keep living the dream of M.U.S.I.C (Magical Universal Sign In Code).
Edit: I wore my Zero shirt too when I made my video. Our minds think alike.

Great show as always! My fave albums of the year were the latest Marvelous 3, Crosses and Sleep Token albums!
My all time favourites albums are One X by Three Days Grace and Nirvana's MTV Unplugged
(Also Tori Amos is underrated. I have To Venus And Back album on record)
Spotlights are amazing and should be way bigger than they are. Seen them live a few times, including a headlining show downstairs at Subterranean in Chicago, even though they should be selling out arenas.
I love Teenage Wrist it made my top 5. I also love Narrow Head. Have you listened to Softcult?
Yes, I made a video about their cover of Nirvana's Francis Farmer. They are great! I probably could've included their 2023 EP on my honorable mentions!
@@JacobGivens man that is a great EP.
Don't want to seem rude commenting a recommendation for you, but if you really like Slowdive and you haven't heard the band yet, you should check out my bloody valentine and the album loveless. Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins has been my favorite album for a long time, (I guess it has only been since October 11th of 2022), but after hearing loveless for the first time (on November 3rd of 2023 (2 days before its 32nd anniversary)), everything changed for me. The band consists of Kevin Shields (vocals, guitar), Bilinda Butcher (vocals, guitar), Debbie Googe (bass), and Colm Ó Cíosóig (Drums, Sampler). They are an Irish Shoegaze band and one of the most influential for many bands from the 90's including The Cure and The Smashing Pumpkins. In fact, Corgan stated that Gish was a rip-off of my bloody valentine's debut album isn't anything. He really tried replicating the sound of the band while adding a heavier sound to it. Long story short, loveless is a whole other thing when it comes to music. Currently my favorite album ever and my favorite song is soon. I still love Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. In fact, I've been listening to it a lot again recently.
Oh I absolutely love My Bloody Valentine and Loveless is a classic. I'm very familiar! A huge influence on The Smashing Pumpkins. I'll probably do an episode on them at some point, and the only reason I haven't yet is I didn't really give them a solid listen until I was in my 20s, so I was into the Pumpkins first.
@@JacobGivens Same here.
Have you heard of Hello Mary? Their Self Titled was my favorite of last year. Discovered them when they opened for Bully a couple years back. They're an all female 90s rock inspired group who I HIGHLY recommend checking out if you never haven't..
Haven't heard of them! Thanks of the recommendation!
The band I heard the most this year is called Dead Pioneers. Give them a try!
I will! I'll check them out! Thanks!
My fave album of 23 was 72 Seasons. Yes, I’m a fanboy, but that doesn’t mean I love everything Metallica. I’m lukewarm on the Loads, St. Anger is St. Anger, and I never really connected with Death Magnetic. Hardwired, imo, put them back on track and the new one is another step up. I had some mental health related issues last year and the album (via lyrics) resonated with me in an enhanced sort of way... and helped me through.
I really enjoyed 72 Seasons!! I wish I had spent more time with it!
Checked out Origami Angel and liked it instantly
Love them!
On Teenage Wrist and sounding 90s... everything sounds like something else. What matters is how well you execute sounding like something else.
100% agree. I think I was trying to make that point, but I was meandering as I tend to do on this show! haha
Just a note about Queens Of The Stone Age. Josh Homme was actually awarded full custody of his kids over his ex-wife and it was proven in court that his ex-wife's assault claims were all made up. Sadly, I suppose mud sticks. I feel sorry for the guy.
I hear you, and that was my assumption as well from what I read in the news. But some of the things I was sent, from people who stated inside knowledge of the legal troubles, said there were worse issues at hand behind closed doors. That's why the subject gives me pause. What we read as a court ruling is all we get to see, so I just was doing my best to be sensitive to any underlying issues I was unaware of.
