I am devastated to hear of Lawrence's death! I met him at a public display in Auckland NZ, in the seventies. Having recently returned from Wellington where I had been taught by (not open to debate on this) one of the greatest masters in the world, Sifu Bill Young! When I convinced Lawrence to visit Bill on his forthcoming trip to Wellington, he returned with a deep respect for my master, and his permission to learn from Lawrence. Thus my journey began with another man who was, without argument, one of the greatest masters of all time! And...yes, knowing, and living Tong Kune Do (Lawrence stayed with my wife and me while he was in NZ) and seeing firsthand what he was capable of...yes, yes he could have beaten Bruce Lee!

the word Beaten I believe is more evasive, the more humble word to categorize I believe is out maneuver, which is non evasive. Peace

As a student of Lawrence from the 80's and also taught privately in the nineties it is sad to hear of his passing. He was a good friend and teacher and will always be remembered R.I.P

He trained me in the 80's I still have my first-grade certificate from him. Every weekend for three years I trained under him. He was not just a martial artist but a Martial scientist. I met his father and mother many years ago!! As I recall he had a daughter named Lisa. She may have been at that party.

Lawrence was actually ill with cancer but was managing it, but unfortunately he passed away from heart failure on Monday 2/07/2012

Sad news, he taught my father years ago and I've since become very interested in Kung Fu and martial arts as a whole.
    Is his gym still running?

I used to think Lawrence was invincible. Its hard to believe that even something like cancer could beat the man. To hear that he is dead is both unbelievable and devastating at the same time.Knowing Lawrence and his hectic lifestyle he isn't resting in peace - he wouldn't want it that way! I guess he's now in the Shaolin Temple in the sky dazzling Bruce Lee with his broken rhythm-stealth-UFO martial arts techniques! Where ever you are mate, go well. And thanks for everything.
