The newspaper published the note that was found in his pocket. Mr. McCord and his wife both set fires to their farm buildings then killed themselves together as a pact. He wrote "To whom this may concern: Please lay blame on no one as this is a pledged agreement between both of us. This death is from a broken heart that cannot mend as the main jewels are missing. The loss of my baby children is too great to ever overcome and I loved and worshipped my children with all my heart and may god bless and reward me in someway." Mr. and Mrs. McCord both signed the letter. The letter is on Mr. McCord's find a grave site. They shot themselves on "a quilt spread in a plot of plowed ground about 100 yards from their home . . . " I have been through deep grief also but never that deep. Very sad. Great content Lamont, thank you.

So I was wondering about the note he left about his wishes concerning the estate and flowers. It’s possible the people in of those flowers maybe decided it was too much work. So they bought them all new headstones and called it a day.

So so sad. When I was a child one of my little friends died from a highway car crash. I think the divided highways have helped alot in reducing the head on crashes. Seeing all those matching graves lined up reminds me of my great, great uncles. One by one 6 of them died as they reached around the age of 20. Their graves are all lined up in a row between their mom and Dad. I go to decorate their graves when I can as they are about 40 miles away.

We keep having multiple teen death accidents right here where I live in the inland empire, Southern California. Five in a car ran into a wall three days ago It’s tragic and overwhelmingly sad. The main thoroughfare is used for racing and it goes on almost nightly.
I know many will disagree with me but not all kids should drive at 15-16 just because of their birthday. Not all are mature enough.

With all due respect these people took a chance with their lives by putting their lives and the lives of others in grave danger, yet when the children and fiancee are killed, the father kills his wife and then himself. That is highly and extremely insane. There is an old saying that goes"if you live by the sword, you will die by the sword. This technically could have all been prevented. This is not a situation where the parents along with their children and the son's fiancee were all killed by a drunk driver or just by someone driving wreckless. If your speeding/racing on a city street, highway and or freeway it is obvious and apparent that you have a death wish. With all that being said I don't wish any harm or death on anyone, but they could have killed someone or a group of people other than themselves by just simply being negligent. The father set a extremely bad example for his son by illegally racing on city streets, and as a result of that the son, daughter and fiancee were killed. He set a extremely bad example for his children period. He could have taught his son to race by taking him out to a open empty field not city streets and highways.#SMH

The whole family was destroyed. The brother got sent to jail for years, the mother started sleeping with a drug user and became a drug user. There was a murder suicide pact and she died. The father shot himself in the house a short time later. Crazy

Lol. We lived in the Hickman Mills area of KCMO from 1965-1995 around us was bars (95 Club on Hickman Mills Rd., Cactus Jack and Confetti's on Wood field Drive cross road of Hickman Mills Rd. Our family lived in a conner house across from the last one. In the late 80's I would visit our old home inside in the garage would be construction ladders, tools inside in the dining room would be gym bags, purses I would question mom about because I knew they wasn't her style to carry, I would question why all the ladders there was always a reason. One time I saw clothing I knew mom or my sister or brother wouldn't wear and question that. One day in visiting Seeing stuff that was out of place for my family to have I said so, mom broke down said my sister was breaking into cars I said mom! She'll go to Sing, Sing. No she said I'm the look out man.

Very tragic and sad.The McCord parents' death occurred 12 days before I was born.I can't imagine what these 2 families went through. The grieving process was obviously overwhelming. The Vail family suffered greatly too.The loss of their two children had to have been a huge burden for them.
