Hey guys! Once you've watched this, be sure to go check out our follow-up video on the alleged Evolve brake-locking issue. Essential viewing for all e-skaters! ua-cam.com/video/Bw13QxcopT4/v-deo.html
Electroheads only thing I would say is the lockup’s I think it might be the belly of the beast and with electric vehicles this may happen plus your screen shots where on other boards such as the GTx and the gt series
@@Esk8Nomad I don't think we should have to accept random brake lockups as an unavoidable part of e-skating, especially considering these lockups don't see to be anywhere near as common with other brands. Re the screenshots you're absolutely right - all the examples I found involved Evolve longboards, no recorded incidents with the Stoke that I'm aware of. But because we don't know what causes it, it's hard to know which boards are/aren't affected!
Electroheads I think we are in a grey area atm with that fault but I know that evolve had already made improvements with the system already remaking the BMS a few times now so I know they are always looking at ways to improve the system
Had a series 1 stoke for over a year. Zero problems. Just got a series 2 and it’s ejected me both times I have rode it. Brakes randomly go full lock. Lucky I was padded up
Nope. No lock up wheels here. I think it's a very sensitive trigger and if you touch it slightly at speed, it will propeller you off! Love my board. Riding it today with hardly any traffic is so much fun. Did you exchange your orange wheels for the Blue? The Blue are more for street rides but I want someone out there to design a compatible 85mm terrain wheel. That would be awesome!
I’m here in the UK am looking at a alternative to driving in to town which is about 2miles away, but too far to waste time on foot, And it’s annoying to drive an pay for parking etc. I would also like to use it to just have fun. However bumpy poor roads and pavements concern me as you know being a UK resident….so should I be looking at the evolve longboards with the ATV wheels to make sure to solve this problem? Thoughts….solutions?
Just binged like 7 of your videos now mate, and round every single one informative and most importantly entertaining, more than once I genuinely laughed out loud with your editing and the content used 😂 amazing content mate, really nice to see esk8 and one wheel content in the UK!! Keep up the good work bro!! Look forward to future videos!!!
Love my backfire mini board 96mm awesome commuter... can’t get over the bad comments I hear about being thrown off evolve boards.... awesome review cheers for the info
Jesus, really? I had a Bamboo GT for years but I gave it to a friend, no issues. Now i've got another Bamboo but this time it's the GTR in the mail to Perth from Sydney and this is going to be in the back of my mind now.
That’s what truck risers are for if you want to put bigger wheels on your board with no bite. Also helps with vibration. Just no your range will go down.
@@kylerobinson6102 I haven't change the wheels yet but maybe soon! I spoke to evolveboard they said it's ok to change it to 105mm just make sure you have spacer so you won't get wheel bites.
As a Stoke owner I agree wholeheartedly with this vid. I also absolutely love the thing though, and if you haven't got one do yourself a favour and save up for one.
I do think the Mallgrab will take on a new meaning with the weight and unwieldyness of electric skateboards, does help to carry them over your shoulder like a jacket from Miami Vice, likewise with the Butler towel approach.
Good review, they did have a call back on the issue you mentioned, but yep Mic check on riding this baby, as you will be tested :) I notice a 'Wick' board in the background what are the A.T Wheels on it? Thanks ..
Legend says this design was inspired by the upcoming competition from Exway and their shorter 'Wave' model with its 6ah swappable battery. (Evolve Stoke only uses a 4ah battery)
@@Electroheads I'm tossing between both the Stoke and Bamboo GTR. I like the Stoke for the look, how compact it is and how much you can carve. However the range on the Bamboo is hard to overlook. If only there was a small electric board with better range
also, this malfunction is mostly user error.. ppl used to the rollerball remote from the boosted riders. my first board was evolve so it didnt happen to me UNTIL i got a different brand, and i threw myself off months after i got used to the roller ball remote. as you know, all companies will have there malfunctions. i seen meepos catch fire , and vestar enclousures fall apart at 19mph. also, lacroix boards r throwing ppl off.. thats a 4000 dollar board. .. which board do u think is worth a less price that evolve should be more of a closer price tag to? i dont see any other electric longboards for u to compare the quality and price tag to on your page
Unfair that you're not recommending the board based off incidents that have happened with the previous generation boards that evolve have made. If you actually look at the screenshots that you've posted in this video it shows that the boards were either the GTX or the GT boards, and if someone has said that they were thrown off unexpectedly on a GTR then its highly likely that they touched the brakes by accident. Because the brakes get stronger when you ride faster, people are not expecting the board to suddenly stop when they brush past that brake trigger
you didn't tried this board in pump track or in a skatepark. It's not a board for long ride or for high speed . And this last comment about issue before GTR was not very fair . Anyway you speak well for a French that's great .
1st off evolve and anybody that says “you will get wheel bite running bigger wheels” is full of shit! I personally run 97mm on mine and I have another with 100mm! I added a 1/4 riser beneath the trucks and I’ve NEVER had wheel bite! 2nd the brakes don’t just lock up!! The spring inside the remote breaks and it causes the remote to have a loose trigger and it can slam on the brakes while doing speeds ! I have 3 stokes all setup differently and I love mine! Go follow my UA-cam channel for all the details including my prototype kit that will be releasing soon!!
No, it isn't a conspiracy. My GTR Bamboo (three days old or should I say "new") locked its brakes, stopped on a dime and I was thrown of the board and got brused up badly. Have the same uneasy feeling that the board will lock up again. Such a shame, I really love the board and its performance. Have contacted the seller, no answer. What is however really sad/strange/stupid, is that the board can hit the brakes full on like that. It shouldnt be able to do it at all! Whats the point! I really want to go out again and try, but believe me, it will be scary. My remote broke so Ive ordered a new one. Maybe there was a problem with the remote in the first place... I dont wanna end up in hospital...or worse in the morge.
The worst customer support in the world after my board lock the brake they do not care and not take responsibility .I never touch the board again and will buy Lacroixboards because I can not trust in evolve anymore . I love my life more then evolve skate ;)
