- Calle Orange is a Hispanic music festival held in Downtown Orlando, FL.
My partner and I were approached recently to fly a professional drone shoot, and I was hesitant to do it, because it was requested that I fly over a crowd of people. Not to mention, this was also supposed to be done in the middle of Downtown Orlando, in controlled airspace.
In order to do this job legally, I had to get a lot of t's crossed and i's dotted.
It was required that I fly a drone that was sub250 grams, with prop guards if I was going to be flying over people, and I wasn't allowed to hover over people, but only cross over them, flying from point A to point B if I were to do this in a safe manner, according to the current regulations.
I also had to have LAANC approval, because I was flying in controlled airspace. I was required to have event approval and city approval, as well.
The most important factor in this whole job, was that I could not crash. Even though, I was flying a new drone frame that I designed, the Bandit, which was only 150 grams with battery, I needed to fly cautiously, because I was flying over people.
Insurance is another requirement that I have tp procure while doing a job like this, to protect myself, and the event holder.
I am also a part 107 licensed pilot, and this is the final requirement to make this job legal to perform.
This is only a small piece of the footage that I delivered to the client - with specific requests to capture one of 4 stages and show the size of the crowd to their future clients.
Great flight, professional job.
Nice dude, I'd love to fly there.. I'm seeing an abundant amount of jello, is it dampened?
