- Description via the DMB Almanac [Link: www.dmbalmanac....]:
This song was originally known as "41 Police," a name derived from a combination of its being the forty-first song Dave wrote and its sounding like a Police song. "Police" was most likely not intended to be a final name for the song but rather a way of identifying it from other songs when it was new (see also "40 Always").
After being perfected during the studio recording sessions of Crash, #41 came to be the most played song of 1996 and an instant classic. When Béla Fleck and the Flecktones guested on the song on NYE 1996, a marriage was made between #41 and the Flecktones song "Sojourn of Arjuna". Since then #41-Sojourn has become a tradition between DMB and the Flecktones whenever they play together. The Flecktones have even played a bit of #41 during their own performances of Sojourn of Arjuna.
#41 has been played every year since its debut and has been a regular feature of both Dave Matthews Band and Dave & Tim setlists, with the exception of 2006, when it was a relative rarity.

Track 3 of Warehouse 5 - Volume 1
It never got better than this version. A+
Flecktones Sojourn of Arjuna in the middle is so fantastic. 25 years old and still so great.
whenever I want to calm down I burn one and put this on... chills me out every time
This sounds EXACTLY like the version from Greensboro NC of the same tour. Bella and the fleck tones sat in on #41 and 2 step. It was and still is the BEST 41 and 2 step I have ever seen live.
Man, I had all these warehouse 5s and lost them in a storage unit that burnt. How can I get a copy? Do they sell them anywhere?
9 comments for his masterpiece is a crime!!!
Not necessarily.
The way comments tend to go trashy on this platform ... might be a good thing.
