I love watching all these different writers talk about how they work best, and what some of their struggles are as a screenwriter. It is very encouraging!
This episode was really good! I got to meet her for like a second when I met Rachel Bloom and Aline was leaving. I said "I'm a fan of your movies" and Rachel Bloom shouted as Aline was leaving, "This guy is a fan of your movies!" Oh, I wish I asked a question or something. Still a great night and excellent screenwriter.
Her Cinderella live adaptation for Disney surprisingly turned out to be really great and this is coming from a 24 year old male. She really added a lot more depth, meaning, and morals to the characters and the story of the original. It easily could have turned out as just another lame and unimaginative Disney cash cow adaptation. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was very impressed, thinking "Now that's how you adapt a Disney animated feature into live action". Keep it up!
can you interview some Director please maybe Steven Spielberg? hah but so far i really like this channel I've been learning a lot about creativity keep it up
After watching this movie I bought an iMac, Macbook Air and a Macbook Pro. I thought, after watching this movie, that's where the ideas come from. Then I went procrastinating on the same sites, because I also thought, that's where ideas come from. Unfortunately, this video doesn't show where ideas come from. It just shows somebody typing and procrastinating. I don't think that's where ideas come from. But hell, what do I know, I didn't write 'The Devil Wears Prada' and I don't Scrabble.
The few original screenplays she's written were horrible and the few I did like Laws of Attraction and the Devil Wears Prada were adapted from novels that other people wrote. Not to be negative but I believe if the Academy wants to help aspiring screenwriters they should interview writers who have written original screenplays that were good but in the quality of the writing and how well it did at the box office
no i think you wrong. first step if you want to be a filmmaker you to be a great watcher and by doing that. you will end up being a movie lover that embracing any movie. what i'm saying is this; you dont have to choose to only watch movie that nominated or won an oscar, you watch all type of movie, because you dont care about it is good or not, why? because you love cinema. and if you love cinema then you can make a movie.
I like when she said, "I think more about whether something is authentic rather than whether it's new". Great way to look at it. :)
"I don't know if it's important. I hope it is." That just sums it all up.

This screenwriter series is SO inspiring! Thank you for posting them, Academy Originals!
One of my favorite screenwriters.

Best quote of the video :
"Like, you see a deer or a horse or something, and it, like, goes "pbht"."
These are cool. I dig the creative sparks. So interesting/inspirational.
👍 I learn a lot from this kind of videos.
Playing Scrabble with David Benioff! I'm so jelly lol.
Really inspiring
That's really interesting that she stays connected with other screenwriters through Scrabble lol
Hey she's like me, letting ideas come naturally.

interesting interview BUT the music is too intrusive and fights her dialogue
You are incredibly OK!
Anything else, other than The Devil and The Zoo???

+Eduard Rekker You basically paid no actual attention to the video and only saw what you wanted to see.
