I remember moving into my first apartment. After my parents left I sat on my couch and cried... I felt abandoned, even though I wanted my own place, and was ready to move out. I'm a homebody, and it was weird at first, but then I got used to it.... and got a cat (Maggie
I felt the same. Except I was sad for weeks 😭 it didn't help I moved into a place I didn't like and the apartment had so many problems. I was missing home so much. Fast forward 3 years and I now live in a nice condo even further away from my parents. I still have days I miss them, like a shopping day out with my mom or going out to breakfast together, but it did get easier. I'm just really close to my family so it was hard for me to leave.
@@Kayyvr I'm glad you were able to move to a better place, and I know it's hard especially if you're close to your family. My mom and I were always close and we did stuff together all the time, so I remember how it felt not to have that. I hope you're continuing to do well! :)
The emotions come in waves. Even years in I’ll have sad moments realizing I don’t live at home❤️
There will be a time where you find that home is exactly where you’re living (even though it might not be at your parent(s)/legal guardians anymore)💞

It’s been a whole month since I moved out of my parent’s house and I don’t think I have fully processed that idea yet. Just like you, I’m also really close to my mom, and to think that I’m in Canada and she is in Brazil right now makes me wanna cry every time. But things get better everyday! I’m sure this is gonna be a great experience for you too Hannah! :)
I immediately started crying once you started. I've been living by myself for a year now and yes it gets SOOO much better, but I still sometimes miss my mom so much. I hope you'll have a great time in NYC (jealous german girl here lol) and if you feel overwhelmed, remember: you have all the freedom in this world to pause and to visit your family whenever you need to....

I've been living alone for uni for about 2 months, on a whole other continent than my family and friends with a big time difference, and its been amazing but man sometimes I just get so homesick despite this being my biggest dream come true, when I dropped my mom off at the airport after moving me in and staying with me I cried for literally a whole day after but it definitely gets easier
You’ll always be able to call or go see your parents and your old room and things, you aren’t saying goodbye forever, but those emotions can still be very strong and hard to get through. You got this!!!
So just wanted to say 1. Just remember every time your sad about missing family that you were blessed with such good people. Also, give them a call or a text when you do miss them!
2. I try to call every Sunday, it gives me a routine and makes me feel in touch
3. Remember that in order to FLY you have to leave the comfort zone - AND YOU DID THAT GIRL 👏🏼 so you are going to FLY ❤️

I stumbled onto your account because I was looking for more recent videos of NYC apartment searches and watched this one to see how it worked out for you. As an “elder millenial” closing in on 40 with a husband and a toddler, I can say that what you’re feeling now is totally normal and not at all embarassing. I’ve been there. Most people who are close with their families feel this way when they move out for the first time. And when you get older and move between cities, leaving your friends behind, the feeling is similar. But it gets better and you have new, beautiful experiences and learn to feel safe and comfortable in your new space. You’ve got this.

Queen it’s ok Charley will probably hide until she gets adjusted to the new place! I just moved my car and he hid for the first like 3 weeks in the new house and now he is happier than ever! So don’t worry you got this and Charley will warm up shortly! Love you queen! ❤️
I'm currently in NYC as well! (been here 6 years) can honestly say the first two years were really hard just making friends and settling in, but now i never want to leave. You are going to love it!

Firstly, I'm so so happy for you! Secondly, I just want to say that I really appreciated that you showed the last part. I'm myself a big homebody and the thought of moving is very anxiety-inducing to me for that reason. But seeing you being so open about the hard part of moving out gave me some comfort in knowing that I'm not the only person feeling both excited and sad about moving out.

I understand you, I moved 500km away from my city to start university less than 2 months ago and IT IS hard. I cried almost every day during the first week but now I have a lot of new friends and I’m doing great!! of course I miss my old life but I love this new one a lot too. I'm 27, working, studying my masters, and living with my parents (which is the norm where I live, normally we move out once we get married) ... but I'm thinking of moving to another country and live myself but is hard because I love my parents, I love my sister and I love my house and I know is going to be hard because I cannot live without them but I need to move for my to grow up.. to finally grow up. And you and this series have help me to understand that is going to be scary, and I'm going to feel pain and alone and all that, but is worth it... So thank you so much! I'm going to live this journey thanks to you. I hope the best and know that you have lots of friends everywhere.

Aww I remember doing theIs exact thing when I was 23 and moved to Orlando by myself ready to take on my first real job in a new city after graduating. These feelings are all very normal. Allow yourself the permission to feel them and to process them. There will be days you will be high on life and others where all you wanna do is cry. Gratefully you are not alone and you have a whole community of followers here rooting you on! You got this… We are all going to be watching this new adventure with you and looking forward to your continued happiness and success.
Idea: take the closet doors off the closets and hang white flowy curtains there instead ! (Opens up the space quite a bit). And you can store them under your bed until it’s time to move out. Then easily put them back up when the time comes! I’ve done this at nearly every apartment I’ve rented and it always helps so much with managing a small space.
Here’s a tip for hanging photos in future… put a piece of coloured tape across the back covering the nail holes. Then put two dots where the nail holes are. Then simply stick that tape on your wall, level it and drill the holes in! Then hang up your picture :)

I feel these emotions so much. I moved out for the first time last year for my second degree, and i still find being away from home so hard. but like you said: it’s a journey!!
I feel you so much. at 20 y/o I start to think of moving too, it´s very far into the future bc I just started a new degree and I can stay at home for as long as I want to. I´m a homebody too... and thinking of living all by myself some day is... exciting but pretty painful too. with taking up all the responsibility for yourself comes so much lovely positive, but also a pretty big amount of negative emotions. As you said, it will get hard. But it will also get great.

You're so brave Hannah. It's so good that you have your kitty with you. When I first moved to L.A I had the same scary intrusive thoughts about living alone for the first time. Those first few weeks were difficult trying to get accumulated. Although, I can promise you that it does get easier. Do things that make you happy, and go easy on yourself.

I totally get what you say about being a homebody, and I get the mix of emotions you may be feeling right now. Just want you to know, I moved out of my parents house when I got married almost 7 years ago and cried for the first 6 months because I missed my family so much. I moved 4 hours away to a different city around 4 months ago, and went through the SAME emotions. It’s now starting to get much easier, but it’s always a process and that feeling will subside 💕
