  • This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Ford Mustang GT and Ecoboost review of this iconic sports car and convertible.
    Nearly 60 years after its debut, the 7th generation 2024 Ford Mustang is here with improved powertrains, an updated exterior, new interior design with a digital cockpit inspired by fire jets, it features two large customizable digital displays, a 12.4” driver display and a 13.2” touchscreen with SYNC 4 plus available software updates.
    Whether you choose the turbocharged 2024 Ford 4-cylinder EcoBoost or the V8, manual Mustang GT, the automatic, convertible or coupe, Mustang has plenty of options at different price points and performance levels. Mustang is a RWD model.
    There are two powertrain options, the 2024 Ford Mustang GT has a 5L V8 with a standard 6-speed manual transmission with rev matching or an available 10-speed automatic transmission, 486 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque.
    The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse model is the most powerful Mustang, with a modified 5L V8, a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission, 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque. It has the Gen III Magneride Damping System.
    The 2024 Ford Mustang Ecoboost has a 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The manual is no longer available on the Ecoboost.
    This 2024 Ford Mustang sports car has a timeless exterior design with an athletic stance and sleek lines. Ford has tweaked the exterior design to make it a little more chiseled, but the styling is very familiar.
    Whether you choose the 2024 Ford Mustang Ecoboost or 2024 Ford Mustang GT, you can add the Performance Pack with Torsen limited slip differential, a front tower brace, wider wheels and tires, Brembo brakes, a carbon black grille, an electronic drift brake, active pot-hole mitigation and an optional Magneride active suspension.
    Fuel economy, the Ecoboost gets 10.8L/100 km, 22 MPG city and 7.1L/100 km, 33 MPG highway. The V8 15.8L/100 km, 15 MPG city and 9.8L/100 km, 24 MPG highway.
    The 2024 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Fastback starts at $37,000 CAD/$30,920 USD, Ecoboost Convertible $43,900 CAD/$39,020 USD. The GT Fastback $48,500 CAD/$42,495 USD, GT Premium Convertible $60,200 CAD/$52,515 USD and the Dark Horse Fastback starts at $74,850 CAD/$59,270 USD.

    I love this new Mustang GT look. I have a 2005 GT that I bought new in 2004 and it still puts a huge smile on my face when I drive it. I still get lots of thumbs up from people.

    Here's the thing re: everyone saying "it looks like a Camaro": 1. It doesn't 2. The Mustang looked NOTHING like a Mustang from 1979-2004 and people got used to them and bought them anyway.

      I agree regarding the infotainment screen. The classic basic style of the Mustang interior is now lost with a slab of nondescript fingerprint gathering screen. If you happen to be a shorter driver...good luck safely seeing over this new screen. It also appears that it could be quite distracting...maybe not (?).

    OK kids, let's get real here. The Mustang V8 is crazy fun, but the cost of these big toys is just nuts. Some perspective: From 71-73 I had a 66 coupe with the I-6 and 3 speed manual. It was plenty-O-fun and would greatly exceed any legal US or Canadian speed limit. Bought and sold it for $600. I had a 84 V6 LX convertible. Lightly used for $8000. Only 112hp but it would go over 100 and it was a convertible. Had a new 86 GT liftback with 5-speed manual with it's incredible at the time 200 hp. Kept it for 15 years. It was $12,500 OTD. Next is my 2019 Ecoboost Premium convertible with the manual. Plenty-O-fun. Got it "new" with 1450 miles for $29,000 OTD.
    But the best (for me) is my 2011 V6 convertible Premium Pony Package with the manual and upgraded infotainment I installed to replace the dumb SYNC that had died. The V6 was $13,000 with 82,000 one-owner miles.
    I've watched nearly every UA-cam review by all the regular suspects whizzing along the Angels Crest. OK, I get it, the GT is the one you want, but for many people who just want a new fun to drive Pony car, the Ecoboost is rationally the wiser choice. Come on folks, where in 99% of daily use do you need all the power of the V8 engines, plus there is the cost of premium fuel, more expensive insurance, and abysmal gas mileage. For folks that want a manual Ecoboost you can find a used one thanks to the internet. One thing that all testers fail to mention: if you want the advertised power from the Ecoboost or GT you have to use 93 octane. So why do I like the 2011 V6 best? 305 hp on 87 octane and it gets 33mpg at 65 mph. In response to one thing you noted about the 10-speed auto: the 6-speed auto that Ford used from 2011 to 2017 in the Mustang is more fun and spends less time hunting for the gears than the 10-speed, although apparently Ford has tuned it better for the 24 Ecoboost.

    • @jasons7070
      @jasons7070 9 місяців тому

      I have a 2019 GT, base model 6spd with active exhaust. I use 87 octane most of the time. easy 29 mpg on the highway at 75 all day. 22, 23 mpg in general driving. Way worth it over the 4cyl. I also have a 2019 Focus ST...summer I get 25/30, winter it drops quite a bit and running 93 because of the turbo. So the mustang is actually cheaper to run for me when It's on the road.

      I rented a Mustang, base V6 with automatic trans, maybe 4 years ago. There was nothing "fun" about it. It looked like a Mustang, and that was all. A Honda Civic w/1.5T would have been more fun *and* practical. The Ecoboost engine would be an improvement, but still a far cry from the raging beast, the GT. "Go big, or go home."

  • @yorbalindason
    @yorbalindason 10 місяців тому +4

    Manual v Automatic? Don’t be too judgmental. I have both an older manual Porsche and a newer PDK. They are both fun in their own right but the PDK is other worldly fast and precise. The manual is “fun” but the PDK is awesome fun and makes you feel like you have a lot of control over all the speed.
    Wow. Screens taking over wrecks interiors. For Porsche and other specialty cars I think they should offer manual dial packages.

    Growing up, my older brothers had 1967 Mustang 289 cubic inch two barrel V8 with an automatic transmission that they bought used for $400. The old Mustangs were actually very basic cars. And, even though it was a V8, it wasn't all that powerful. The US$30k base model Mustang seems pretty affordable by today's standards, and far more advanced than the old Mustangs.

    Should’ve started with the ecoboost. Once you’ve driven the GT, unless you’re already a fan of the ecoboost you’ll just be disappointed. Also, the trim you’re showing is the premium. The base model has both seats, and the screens are separate, not continuous.
    As for me, I love my 2018. Too bad they discontinued manual transmission for ecoboost.

    So 2024 Mustang price are out of reach for most. I know the lowest price is $31,000 but no dealer would have one in inventory, the rare ones they had were loaded with $5,000 dealer add-ons. They all wanted to made huge profits on $50,000+ cars.

    The Mustang has grown in size and price soo much in nearly 60 years, I really think Ford needs to downsize the next generation, some versions are over 4000lbs, can you say Mustang XXL! No manual in the Ecobeast!?! BIG FAIL Ford!!! It is a sports car, it needs to be an option. When I bought my Mustang the manual was less expensive, a bonus in my case because that is what I wanted, even if it has to cost a bit more for the manual, you have to offer it! I really think everyone should at least learn to drive a manual in driving school, soo many people missing out on the driver/machine connection! Andrea gets it, good for her! Overall a decent update to the Mustang, still not completely sold on the new grill, but from some angles I can see what they were going for so it's a pass! Great review!

      The car rev matches for you automatically. Yes, even the manual transmissions do it. These media cars have that option enabled by default. You can go into settings, and turn it off if you prefer to do it manually.

    I just got a 2022 G.T. Ice White left over from last year got a good price on it they are low production in 2022 but I really like the dash set up
    better than the new types and I see that they are all up 15 to 20 k in the price as well for 30 more horse pwr I don't think I would notice the
    difference in power this thing is fast and loud as well is a good street car when you drive in the Sport mode!! fast on the line as well but drive safe out there!

    Have a 2015 Ecoboost and have gotten 6.9 L/100km travelling on 2 lane highways to the cottage. An econobox wouldn’t be much better meanwhile this is a more fun Mustang. The power is there, sound not so much though it sounds better inside the car. All good except the ride is a bit firm for my liking.
    Question: Presuming the magna ride is available with the Ecoboost is the ride more comfortable with that option?

    Andrea has come a long way since learning to drive a stick on the Miata. Love the car (and the review) but I think Ford has missed out in not offering the ecoboost in a manual. Keep up the good work.

    I always liked this American icon. Never enough to consider buying one, but I also love Miatas… and never wanted to own one either. I think the Mustang continues to deliver on it’s unique style and offers great value… even in Stripper spec. It in my opinion, it will always be an absolutely great vehicle for the right individual, especially with the GT. Thanks for the video.
