I've read daily mail, daily telegraph and other news outlets. I normally read comment under articles to get a sense of what readers think and I can honestly say on average the guardian commentators appear to have higher IQ in their analysis & understanding of current affairs. I may not always agree - but definitely head above shoulders compared to others. Happy 200th Birthday Guardian!

I found this oddly moving.
Sometimes it is easy to carp at The Guardian for being a middle class liberal institution but let's just take a moment to imagine life without it these last 200 years. We need all sorts of voices and most definitely , we need this one.

The objective reporting is top notch, as is the arts section. I don't always agree with the opinion pieces, but that they are opinion pieces.
That said, the technology section could do with some love.
