    Awesome, purchased a Pico in preperation and have a spare SAMCO 1.1 board.
    The M0 Express with SAMCO 1.1 has caused me a lot of issues, trying to reflash it just hangs and when I did get the sketch onto it the calibration failed. Can't wait to try the new method.

      Nice! Saw your other comment about calibration but only now had a chance to reply. Calibration is a little strange on the 4IR beta (will be much simpler in the new code) check out the new code vid on my channel might help ya out.

    Great to see an Aussie driving this!
    Wondering how the latency is? Watching some of the Samco videos vs. Gun4 I felt the latency was way better in Gun4 so am currently building two of those guns.
    Will stay tuned!

      @samcorulz  19 днів тому +1

      Ha, I’m a kiwi actually. But all good, Southern hemisphere for the win! Latency should be really good at least as good as Gun4 mainly down to the new microcontroller being able to process everything so much faster.

    I am here for the ride got some boards back in 2020 I think? THANKYOU FOR KEEPING THE DREAM ALIVE. A few years ago UI got from Japan a pink SNES justifier Australian border force seized it and destroyed it defining it as a weapon. Even after I got a letter from Victoria Police saying it was a toy Border force said if I wanted to take it to court I had to submit paper work in next 72 hours or it would already be destroyed. So when I see a local keeping this alive feels my heart with joy.
    BY way shout out to Victoria Police making a sensible choice I still here the voice of the Officer laughing when he said submit your claim I think you will be right got the letter from Vic police sent it to border force that My states Police said it cool it just a toy and Border Force say Yea NAH, we still incinerating your baby pink 15 percent larger then a real colt 45 with a cord attached to it pink baby pink gun.

    Looking forward to this.
    Id love an option that plugs into a ps/2 adapter. A few of us still use old skool pcs with the green/purple ps/2 port. I'm also looking to see if this will work with a zx spectrum next visa a PI Pico...

    • @ThatOneSeong
      @ThatOneSeong 24 дні тому

      In theory, one *could* just plug it into a PS/2 adapter, however older devices might not be so tolerant of its modern three-way virtual device output. Not even considering if PS/2 supports things like absolute positioning devices.
      That said, it *is* a Pico inside, so there's no reason it couldn't work on a Speccy Next! We're still verifying whether this will work in MiSTer too to accommodate that audience as well, but we hope to have that supported; either at launch or close enough to it.

      @@ThatOneSeong awesome! The little pico that plugs into the ps/2 plug of the speccy Next (which is a new fpga driven machine and very cool!) I believe has code for absolute and relative mouse positions. I know that the Samco uses absolute for the DF Robot (I've built one of your guns) so will keep you posted if it works (although I think I'll hang fire until the improved changes your proposing are made as they sound really good!)

    Nice. As long as the software will integrate with existing games this will be killer.

    • @ThatOneSeong
      @ThatOneSeong 24 дні тому

      The software is *exclusively* for configuration purposes - as far as any computer is concerned, it's just a mouse, keyboard and gamepad! And I should know, from the time I spent testing with Taito Type X platform shooters, TC5, Scarlet Dawn and HOTD:Remake.

    common sam, lets make it even bigger, intergrate your tech into graphics cards, so we don't have to risk breaking components soldering, we should be revolutionising games with this tech. not holding it back. it should be involved in crossplay games.

    Very cool! Will this work with existing GUN4IR setups?

    • @samcorulz
      @samcorulz  24 дні тому +2

      Gun4IR uses a 32u4 microcontrollers (ours uses RP2040’s) so you unfortunately won’t be able to just upload our new code into an existing gun but you will be able to keep your IR sensor setup.

    • @CoryB_1980
      @CoryB_1980 24 дні тому

      @@samcorulz Nice! That's what I was really asking and hoping for... being able to use my existing IR setup. I custom made a bezel for my cabinet with the GUN4IR sensors integrated into it... so it's good to know I can use those in the future with your guns.

    • @ThatOneSeong
      @ThatOneSeong 24 дні тому +1

      @@CoryB_1980 FWIW, we do prefer new setups use the two lightbar/square LED setup as that offers the best accuracy, but there will be a toggle that can be set on a per-cal profile basis to use the GUN4IR diamond LED configuration! And it shares all the same Mamehook serial commands as well, so it's as much a replacement as we can feasibly make it.
      If you were to get, say, an Adafruit KB2040 and plop that into a GUN4IR PCB, you would be able to use the KB2040 build as that board+FW combo is specifically configured to map to the same pin layout by default!

    Wireless is a game changer but hope I don't burn my house down with 24v solenoid powered by batteries.
    Solenoid tend to push current back to batteries, hope your team investigate this and have a protection circuit for it.

    • @ThatOneSeong
      @ThatOneSeong 24 дні тому

      That would be defying physics if we could have both, so solenoid based force-feedback will not be available (unless you plug into mains power). You will get Rumble based FF tho while in wireless!

    • @jackipiegg
      @jackipiegg 24 дні тому

      @@ThatOneSeong
      Not really, there's existing wireless + solenoid on the market where you can buy right now, but it costs in the thousands of dollars and its closed sourced.
      Just need a proper protection circuit that's all.
      Edit: there's cordless drills that are safe to use, they incorporate proper protection.

    • @ThatOneSeong
      @ThatOneSeong 24 дні тому

      @@jackipiegg From a common 3.7V LiPo battery, when most solenoids are 12V/24V-up?
      The math isn't exactly mathing right here. We're making this accessible to the majority of people and to bring the cost of high quality tracking down, not trying to fleece even more money out of people.
      Of course, if it "just need a proper protection circuit" then you're free to design one? There's nothing in software that could stop it from working, *assuming* the solenoid receives proper power from someplace - but in a way that's simple and easy for people to reproduce, and to possibly sell, I don't think that's something that could be offered.

    i dont know why they dont just use dolphin bar , wireless so simple

    • @ThatOneSeong
      @ThatOneSeong 24 дні тому +1

      Because the dolphin bar is for Wii Remotes, and this isn't one of those? That's how we manage to get such good accuracy, high response rate, and flexibility, by utilizing its camera but with a much more powerful MCU and a software stack purpose built for the task - were we to use a Wiimote, it would be no better than the one you probably already have, aha!
      That said, wireless ability is provided over Bluetooth, so there's no reason it wouldn't work on all the same places a Wiimote does... outside of the dolphin bar, because that's a completely different beast.
