Some banks offer no fees, most others may no longer do this coin for cash, others will still charge a fee, my old union bank charged me 6% the same I paid for two separate Coinstars I used sometime between 2000-2007
I count and roll my change myself then I take it to the bank. Not only do I know exactly how much I have, but I'm also not paying 9% to 10% of my money just to have the machine count it.
All of you talking about how coin machines take a percentage, take time to actually watch the video you're commenting on. If you opt to receive a certificate as opposed to a cash voucher, then there's no fee. This video has NOTHING to do with the percentage they take out.
William Chandler thank u 4 info.I didn't kn. that,q have almost $200.00 in change I can just give gift cards out 4 x-mas with this change & don't have 2 shop 4 a few people in my family, since banks don't take it any more
Don't give out gift cards for Christmas you idiot. People would rather have less REAL MONEY, hint, than be locked into buying shit from one stupid fucking location on a card that charges you to use it, charges you for not using it, and becomes invalid over time
+Josue Bazan exactly. if ppl would just convert to the simple way before their was these fuckin coin machines. well then they would get every penny back. but since ppl are fuckin lazy and dont want to roll shit because it might take time out of their already boring lives. they dont want to do it. just because we got high tech technology doesn't mean you should use it. and yes. you can go to the bank and get free rolling papers for coins. they still do that. fuck that coin machine. i work to hard for my money. and i keep my change save it up and cash it out the old school way. josue bazan im with you on that. im not against whoever decided to make a machine that does this. whoever cqme up with this idea i give them props because they are probably an entrepreneur. and thats what im doing. but i will never give my money to this machine. its fucks you over from what you can get. just roll them yourself. and turn it in, in full and get all the money. this video is stupid. just simplify it and roll them yourself and get all the money back. my bad for texting so much. its just i cqnt stand ignorance. and nothing against your text at all. you were taking something that somebody complicated and you simplified it so thumbs up bro
Jeffrey Jefferson he wasn’t being a dick he was just stating facts and he was making a suggestion. The “nobody was at fault but you” line may be rude but it’s technically true. He probably did watch the video and knew what that results would and it now giving advice on how to fix the problem that occurred therefore suggesting something to do so he can get actual cash and not get cheated
So tell me, if he is only stating facts then how is the guy making the video at fault for anything? He had a question that I'm sure many people have and provided an answer along with video to back it. The question was "can you trust the machine that turns your coins into cash" the example he provided proved that you could at least trust this particular machine.
But the machine is actually ripping him off even if it does count every coin he put in.So in conclusion the poster being worried about being ripped off is silly because he is still being ripped off . Go to the Bank!!
You're dumb... the test was put in motion to see if the coin machine would fall into the margin of error and essentially steal his coins. It's not about value - if you look at his notes... it is for x amount of coins... green machine/personally counted.
+oceanwaves83 Guess you don't know in the US we use commas, so since they were using American currency the nonsensicality of the joke remains intact. Besides, the commenter themself confirmed they were using periods to denote the difference between cents and dollars.
Do you even know what the fee is for? Here is a break down; - These machines require maintenance and repairs which cost them money on top of having it manufactured - Seeing as it is called a processing fee this part they have done for them by the like of Loomis, Dunbar or Brinks or other such armored service, - The locations they are at those places are taking a cut for allowing them an providing you an access point at their establishment. - Their No Fee options may not cost you anything but the retailers themselves where available at select location are themselves paying this fee so you can load your cash onto a valid voucher at their establishment(s). Same for Donation to Charity option which is tax deductible on top of it so KEEP that Voucher for the IRS. After all those things are paid of and they pay themselves for what they do in their offices at HQ or such goes to the company itself as actual Profit. And since not all locations charge the same convenience fee but it ranges from 0% as a few said their banks offer use of the Coinstar for no fee is you are a "customer" at their establishment ...at most you have to loose is 11.9% to them, still more fair than the IRS taking 25% fro your $5,000+ lottery winnings up front and another possible 14.6% at most at tax time depending on amount of winnings and their taxable income bracket on this. But now a days you would be hard pressed to find a bank with no fee and provides their own non Coinstar machine even still yet or let alone they will take rolled coins which they may open up and ruin your efforts if you took the time to roll them just to check you are not trying to a pull a fast by stuffing any rolls with some sort of filler. Lastly of all if you knew much or bothered to look it up you would know what coins Coinstar will look for that they will not accept other than Foreign coins, but any actual copper penny or silver coins, they even spit back out the steel penny of which those two pennies are worth way more than their face value due to their era of minting and rarity. But remember at most it will take in fee is 11.9% out of every dollar, to they make a profit of $119 if you inserted $1000 in coins,, rather use it than waste my time finding a bank that will accept it without any hassle or possible higher fee is any fee at all.
Change adds up quickly. Most people don't give saving change a second thought, but if it's put into an account that has compound interest it really can help build wealth.
my bank does it for free, but last time i turned in 165 dollars worth of dimes it only said i gave them 162.99 and the teller said nothing she can do, all dimes cannot come out to anything.99 i dont get what she did not understand about that
As a career service tech for a certain brand of coin sorter/counter, the machine did not "error in it's favor". Human error is nearly always the cause of mis-counting. Machines today have dual electronic sensors which are 100% accurate 100% of the time. Problems will occur if you have dirt, dust, foreign coin or foreign matter, or mutilated coin to process.
that is the thinking of most people, but when this type of thing happens to pretty much everyone that uses the machine, that means that the company ends up with a good profit from these "mistakes". for about 30 yrs or so i saved my change and emptied it out of my purse weekly. then, just before christmas, i "rolled" it in papers provided for free by my bank - anywhere between $300 and $450 - and took it directly to the bank. their machines always scanned the rolls exactly as i had counted, and i did this when i was going by the bank anyway. plus i was able to get cash or have it put directly into my account. for me at least, this is a much better way.
Pro tip. Use self scan machines. Buy something you want like a candy bar, and the machine will just gobble all the coins you give it. The Conveyor belt Intakes work best for this, and you're actually helping to fill its change stores. Just don't do it if the light is flashing amber, as this is actually a signal to staff that the machine requires attending to. This could mean that it is running low on a coin, but it could also indicate that one of its chain stores are getting full.
Use the dollar coins and quarters to make any normal purchase. You lose too great a percentage in those machines. I just let it have my dimes, nickles and pennies. I am never going to use them to buy anything anyway. Its not a scam, it tells you exactly what percentage they will withhold for the service. It is up to you to decide if its worth it.
I guessed $210. Close enough lol. U should just get one of those coin rolling machines , I know they are time consuming but if u wanna save all your money that's the best way to do it
No such thing as close enough. Either it is correct or its not. Put in ten coins it says nine. Put in 23 and it says 22. If it never counts higher it was programmed that way.
What if the machine has a bigger range of error with more change. I mean if it's off with a small bag imagine how material it would be on your side if they missed close to 2 dollars or 3! They already take a huge cut from the total amount. It can also be set up to avoid risk. They can set a preliminary risk rate much higher when the machine counts a variety of different coins and have a lower risk rate when the machine counts more of the same type of coin. This means that the machine is acceptable to be wrong as long as the different type of coins is inserted. Whoever made this knew that no one would count exactly how much of each coins a user has if they have 3 bucks full. They also knew that majority of people that would use this would do so spontaneously.
***** u really believe a quarter is made out of silver??? you should exchange all ur $ bills right away and start digging a giant hole in ur backyard where u can hide this treasure!!!!
Lol. I had guessed 200.00 when you said too. I wasn't far off as I always save change also. But never used those machines 'cuz of course they get a cut doing the all the work for the customer. (Is it 10% ?) I'd rather count it out myself at home & cash in at the bank. Where I live we can do that as a customer of the bank. Thank you for sharing. I always wondered how accurate as I see many people at those machines. Really enjoyed your video.
It may have only ripped you off a quarter, nickel or dime or two, but multiply that with many machines throughout the world and many, many people using them and it adds up quite significantly.
You do realize even if he does not they will reject maybe they won't reject Morgan's or anything highly doubt he would pass something like that up as normal coinage
I work on coin machines I won't specify where or for whom. There are a lot of variables when counting coin mostly how good the coin is and how well the machine is maintained. In general at least for my company we guarantee 99.995% accuracy. However if the machine is allowed to get completely filthy because the customer won't maintain the machine that accuracy goes way down to somewhere around 97% or worse depending on how bad it was neglected and i see about one in 3 machines or worse neglected if you are curious about how accurate the machine is ask somebody who would know how often they clean the machine and if they don't have an answer expect not so accurate results. If you have damaged or dirty coin it will typically send it to a reject chute if it can and if not it goes into a debris bin. Hope this clears up any questions.
Abdelillah Aboudkhil I guess that probably varies by bank atleast my bank I just give them a water jug I toss change in and they take it bring it back empty
AL E The Presidential Dollars are base metal and they are not proofs. They are worth $1 and you can get them at any bank or as change in the subway, unless you have the infamous "Cheerios" Sacagawea which is worth a fortune.
You know some people don't have a bank which near the store. So they would use the machine. Debt is a problem if your paying it to you account. If you did not know not every bank let you change all coins. They have certain rules on what they take. As well some only let you put money it into your account then draw it out.
Mark Spohn most banks ive been to will not accept loose change...you have to roll it. It makes no sense because they must break them open and verify its all real coinage but that is how it is
Not always true. I don't have a bank account. Not a traditional one. Not all banks cash coins, some make you wrap the and you almost alway need to have an account with them
I love these machines cause it seems the general public never thinks to check the rejected coin drop below ;) I make about 3-5 bucks every time I pass it lol. One day I checked and collected and then when leaving the store I looked again and there was more change lmao. Winning!
money folds bitch that's change . the shit most people throw on the ground or give to the homeless. this is one of those guys I gave my change to u dumb fuck I helped pay for this video.
I got some extra change if u need a new toaster hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
if they rip you off, they would do it at the register. there are certain account numbers we have to type in when slips from that machine come to us and that's most likely when they screw you
Funny story, had this same problem with my credit union over 53 cents out of $300+ dollars in coins ( I knew because I had them all rolled and they wouldn’t take so I had to go home open them all up) anyway I knew I counted correctly because I didn’t want to turn in short rolls. They dumped my coins into the main hopper and couldn’t return them when I argued the total and would budge soooo...... lol I made a call to weights and measures then I dropped an email to the FDIC people that regulate credit unions, oh did all hell break loose over 53 cents I was getting follow up calls from investigators and apologizes from directors of operations crediting the difference. Tell you what stealing money from the public is very frowned upon
I usually count because I don't have much change, maybe 50$ or so when my jar is filled, most my change goes to parking meters. And the machines usually give me more by a few dollars. And I account for the percent they take out
Those coin machines usually reject pure silver coins, and many times i have seen silver quarters, and silver 50 cent coins on a top catch tray inside the machine when they come to empty them. Check your coins to see if they are silver, most of these coin machines dont give you credit, or reject it at the bottom tray...
I know some machines have gift card options and they don't charge any fees. I have a couple in my area that offer Amazon gift cards. It's a no brainer for me. Turn my change into amazon gift cards with no fee. I shop there all the time. And I am sure you checked, but make sure you check the coin return for coins the machine rejected. that may be why the count was different. I usually check the coin returns any time I go in a store that has a coin machine. And most of the time find about a dollar in change that someone has left behind.
I used to avoid those machines because of the large percentage of the total they would take. So I would take my change to the bank because they would use their coin sorter/counter for free. I always counted my change until I got the same amount twice (usually only took the initial 2 counts). The banks total was always a large percentage different........every time......in the banks favor. Now I use the coin sorters at the local market.
You know Walmart sells those little machines that take your change and separates it for you. All you have to do is put it in the rapper which is very easy. Then you'll know exactly how much money you have. Then you can deposit it in your bank. And those little change machines are very cheap. And you don't have to worry about anybody ripping you off. Or charging you a fee. I have two 5-gallon water jugs both filled up more than half way with change. One with just pennies. And the other with quarters, dimes and nickels. so far I have over 1,200. wrapped up and ready to go to the back.
I worked as a bookkeeper back from 2000 to 2004. I loved it. The machine does not take silver coins. Some keeps dropping the same coin over and over. I walked over and look down. Silver. Ok. That is xyz. Here is xyz. I got so many dimes Quarters and about 8 1880s silver dollars.
I guessed around $200 in change. If you are a member of a credit union they give you 100% cash back. Also major banks have a coin counting machine that will count them.

Frankie F That's right, he's not disputing the service fee, he's saying the machine itself is not accurate in it's count.
The machine isn't ripping you off it takes a little bit as tax for using the machine
Michael Bush that was tally before they take % out..and he states if you get gift card they don't take the % out
William Chandler thank u 4 info.I didn't kn. that,q have almost $200.00 in change I can just give gift cards out 4 x-mas with this change & don't have 2 shop 4 a few people in my family, since banks don't take it any more

that's why you transfer it to egift
Michael Bush in oregon we dont have a tax but coinstar still takes 10%
or just roll your coins. and get everything back lol
Jazer Blade and spend the 5% fee you lose on the machine in time and materials to wrap.
You get free rolls at your bank. And it takes 30 mins max to roll everything.
Jazer Blade sounds so fucking pathetic.
Jazer Blade I appreciate you writing so much...and that's why I liked your comment.
Plot twist: You actually miscounted, green machine was always correct
TruEntertainment 😯 dun dun duuuuun
Right? Why didn’t he take fresh coin rolls from the bank to test instead
Ali a intro plays
Were there any pennies that got kicked out??? Mine will reject coins it can't recognize.
Just take it to the bank......when you use those machines they charge you a fee....it tells you on the screen...so nobody is at fault but you

most machines keep a percentage right?
Chris Wildman yea they take about 12 cents a dollar I beleive
Chris Wildman he is not showing a percentage he showing the actual coin count
Chris Wildman yess nothing is free in our "land of free"😂😂😂
Chris Wildman 10%
Chris Wildman no they do it all for free?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Seether1742 You can just roll them using paper.

thank you I thought I was the only one who noticed
Ziploc is a brand.
It's probably a cheap non-brand imitation.
superdestructo but when he flips the bag over, it says Ziploc
superdestructo it literally says ziploc
didn't rip you off? well clearly it did, there should be no margin of error on such a machine
kernow24 he might have made a mistake counting you never know everybody stitches up counting so many coins.
Maybe he forgot to include the rejects the machine spits out.
lol! I was like $60 in that bag. Damn! That much? $200 in that little bag?

y r u giving it dollar coins!!!????
u keep those
They are not that special...
Why are you not using proper grammar?

It may have only ripped you off a quarter, nickel or dime or two, but multiply that with many machines throughout the world and many, many people using them and it adds up quite significantly.
.....or just go to your bank and have it counted exactly....and then you can take the cash.
Bryan Lorence gotta roll it yourself unless you get a bored teller.
IFIXUR360 at most banks there is a counter luke green machines, but its exact and they give you full cash.
Cordell Vaught yep centennial which is who I bank with have one in all their locations.
Most banks won't count your coins, you've got to roll them yourself, and sometimes they make you open and re-count them.
escruffy banks have a machine that counts your coins but it gives full amount back.
I wonder how many of those were silver.. rip
Did you check for silver coins first?
I bet he didn't
Anon mouse ikr
You do realize even if he does not they will reject maybe they won't reject Morgan's or anything highly doubt he would pass something like that up as normal coinage
Can’t wait till next year when you visit the green machine again, exciting stuff.
The bank does it for free and don't charge you that ridiculous admin fee lol
Abdelillah Aboudkhil I guess that probably varies by bank atleast my bank I just give them a water jug I toss change in and they take it bring it back empty
Yeah but if you have gross change, there's that awkward moment of, "What'd you do to this change."
wow i was wayyyyy off i only guessed 40
i thought that to
I say 60
Mordecai1524 I guessed $58
Lol.. I guessed 60
I thought $120 lol
so you got ripped off $1.35? (1 dollar, 1 quarter, 2 nickels). that's it?
It's still his money.
I wonder if he checked the reject tray afterwards? If it kicked out a few coins, that could be where that small variance in amount came from.
who goes to the change machine without knowing how much they are putting in?
It missed THREE coins. Don't get ya panties in a bunch.
*four
Every bit counts these days !!
***** FOUR
***** IT'S FOUR
***** SO IT IS FOUR
Coinstars are made to rip you off!!
You do know that those dollar coins are colletables right?
+AL E Morgan Dollars are collectible, those are clad.
+AL E What dollars did you see that were collectible?
The gold coins
AL E The Presidential Dollars are base metal and they are not proofs. They are worth $1 and you can get them at any bank or as change in the subway, unless you have the infamous "Cheerios" Sacagawea which is worth a fortune.
+Frank Furter I prefer to collect every dollar I see or hear about.
Yes. Count the change yourself before putting it in "I am Machine" to see if it comes up with the the same number.
It was very funny when you were saying okay, were you waiting for your camera to say okay to you.... Haha
I guess 93$
damn I was way off
Havok Sosa i swear i guessed the same wth
well the green machine has to make a profit + tax so that's why it's not exactly right
Harambe that's exactly what I just said
no they count it THEN take it out of the total, so they charged him twice then
or roll them and go to the bank
caleb colburn bag o rollz is $3 tho
Ciro Santacruz it's actually $1. Always see it at dollar store
Banks have fucking boxes of those for free
Also, your bank will do this for free and they will run your change through a couple times to make sure it is counted correctly.
I guess 10 rats an avocado pit and a cup of corn cob and lobster juice soup.
you can go to the bank and they'll do that for free
Some people cant use banks. Debt is why.
I don't have a physical bank location because my bank is online entirely so there's that too
You know some people don't have a bank which near the store.
Not all banks cash coins, some make you wrap the and you almost alway need to have an account with them
$250???
EDIT i was sooooo close!! do i win?
Clash Bluelight Ooops, error, ya dont win shit.
madisonelectronic aww. :(

Oh god, another of these government conspiracy theory people who are so paranoid about the government
Tim 1 huh?
Those "errors" add up over time. If you look at the big picture, that green machine probably makes thousands extra a year
I have an account with Navy Federal credit union, and every once in a while I use their coin machine. I'm never charged a fee.

Don't forget that the machines keep a small percentage too
I love these machines cause it seems the general public never thinks to check the rejected coin drop below ;) I make about 3-5 bucks every time I pass it lol. One day I checked and collected and then when leaving the store I looked again and there was more change lmao. Winning!
So you have the time to make a stupid video and post it but not enough time to roll your change and take it to the bank?
Justin Leeds it's just like 3 fucking minutes bro

It's kinda impossible to guess how much money Is in the bag since some of it's covered.
if they rip you off, they would do it at the register. there are certain account numbers we have to type in when slips from that machine come to us and that's most likely when they screw you
"I don't see a nickel..maybe that's a nickel..."
I trust myself not to be lazy, and roll my own coins up!! 100% Real Talk!!!
Machines that count coins aren't always perfect. They get great results but like everything they aren't perfect and there will be some slight errors.
What that goes to show is actually they are a rip-off it may be a small error in their favor but think about a million people with that small error
If this machine only rips you off a little bit, and then it rips off the next 2000+ people just a little bit also. That's a whole lot of ripping off…
I worked as a bookkeeper back from 2000 to 2004. I loved it. The machine does not take silver coins. Some keeps dropping the same coin over and over. I walked over and look down. Silver. Ok. That is xyz. Here is xyz.
I got so many dimes Quarters and about 8 1880s silver dollars.
Should've counted the pennies, since the newer ones don't weigh as much; surely got ripped off a couple of cents.
Just in case you didn't know the machine takes a percentage of your money to pay for the machine and eventually turn into profit.
You know it also rejects bad coins, did you check the reject bin.
I guessed around $200 in change.
If you are a member of a credit union they give you 100% cash back. Also major banks have a coin counting machine that will count them.
If you don't trust the macines, you can always roll the coins, as packs of empty assorted rolls only cost a few bucks.
