With the engineering prowess and economies of scale, it should be absolutely possible to get a great pair of headphones for $99. I think there's too much media & consumer attention to the upper end of the price range. With something as good as the HD-6XX for $199 and now maybe this model, I hope more manufacturers step up their game at these price points. I own a pair of original HD-600's and Mr. Speakers Mad Dogs. I'm struggling to find an equivalent value pair of closed back travel headphones. Might these be it?

they're it for me. satisfies my requirements but may be uncomfortable for super long trips. great for commutes though
