    The sound of a truly sharp edge is almost like a lullaby...so soothing.

    I’ve been shaving with a Dovo Best Quality for over a year now. The occurrence of ingrown hairs is almost zero. I use it on my head twice weekly as well; little tricky at first but I take my time. I use a Wilkinson double edge when I’m pinched for time and it also does a great job. Love the videos Matt. Keep them coming 😎🇨🇦🎸

    Thanks Matt 🙏
    Got the Primo 2 for Christmas.
    Used it 2 days ago, love it, very smooth and, in my opinion, very efficient and pleasant razor!

    Matt brought up a very valid point. On all of the 3 piece razors I've had, the threads have worn flat. About a year or year and a half old and the threads are legacy. The sad part is I don't know any manufacturers that sell replacement heads for a three piece.

    Hey Mat, I finally was able to buy the Rex Ambassador and had my first shave with it and I only have good things to say about it. Fantastic razor, you really feel the difference in quality the second you pick it up. Thanks for bringing such a good product to Portugal

    I've been using a safety razor for a decade (after using it, would never go back to cartridges) but I'm trying to work on the straight razor. Was given the dovo straight razor and it's great but I struggle with the lip and chin areas. Can't beat the safety for an easy superb shave but the straight razor to get into the tradition and spirit of things. I know you have a goatee but help with those area would be great!

    Learning with the Boker King Cutter straight I purchased at RE in 2023. It’s my first straight and enjoying the challenge. Maybe a Dovo in 2024? Thanks Matt!

    I got a dovo facherbeit from you and it shaves great. I also got a supply co razor from you as well that shaves great except i find it doesn't mow down longer hair like my konsul does.

    Great video! Dovo Primo 2 is now on my To Get list for the new year. Maybe the Barber Shop after shave too😊

    Very nice, Matt. That Dovo Primo now has my curiosity. Ever consider reversing the color pattern of those t-shirts, all teal with black (or any other dark color) lettering? I'd purchase one, as I'm not a fan of black t-shirts

    Dovo either strait or DE...heritage all the way. They look great and seem to work great. The soap didn't hurt either. Nice one Matt, appreciate the product test/review. 💈💈

    What is the blade gap on the safety razor? I assume it's a mild and not to aggressive. Would be nice to know before buying.

    Not sure I'm brave enough to try a straight razor. The safety razor looks nice. Hopefully they add a stainless steel version in the future. BTW i lent my nextdoor neighbor my Sentry razor for a few shaves and he wound up ordering a Rex Envoy from Shave Nation. Now i get to try his. 😊

    Well Matt they both look really well finished products although I have to admit I am not confident enough to use the straight one even though I used to watch my father who always used one back in the day(1945- 1970's) and i was fascinated then how good he was at sharpening the razors, and he used to wipe the razor as you but on a piece of newspaper - we were really quite poor then. By the by mate I eventually got my second charcoal soap block (I am in Australia) which I notice you always use still. I find it really nice to use as a pre shave !!

    Hey Matt,
    Since you know people at Gillette and have great knowledge of the industry, can you answer this? What is the reason for glue on razor blades and wrappers? I’ve heard two opinions. One is to hold blade in place to facilitate the wrapping process and the other is to keep the blade from shifting allowing the edge to rub against the paper possibly effecting the sharpness. Sure would love your comments.

    It looks like straight razors are the champion of precision lines. I don't have a beard, but maybe I'll try one just for lineup of my ample sideburns, and go back to my DE for the rest. Seems like it would go forever between sharpening with that low mileage.

    I am curious about straight razor shaving, and i am wondering since i am mandated by work requirements to keep clean shaven while on the job. Is a straight razor good for having to shave everyday or better for a couple days of growth.

    • @charlespreiss3426
      @charlespreiss3426 10 місяців тому +2

      I shave everyday with a straight. Once you get used to it it becomes routine like any other shaving method.

    • @salvadorsantos315

      @bobjones8321 I'm not into getting cut by a straight either. Truth is, there is a learning curve and once proficient you are far less prone to knicks. I find straight razor shaving is awesome. I suffered from ingrown hairs with cartridge razors, I don't get ingrowns with straight razors.

    • @JeroenvKL
      @JeroenvKL 10 місяців тому

      Straight razors give less irritation than safety razors, so they are really good for daily shaves. And clean shaven is not the same as BBS, at least I hope your job doesn’t involves people touching your face :)

    Do not get any alcohol on those Dovo scales. It will make them crumble.
    ‘Shave ready’???…no one should ever care. Part of straight razor shaving should be figuring out how to sharpen your own razor. They all will eventually need work. Those wanting to shave with an edge forward shaving device and not wishing to learn to hone to their own satisfaction might like the Feather Artist Club options. Nice work Matt.

    • @charlespreiss3426

      Straight razors lead to honing which leads to restoration which leads to a lot of razors I buy sell and trade. lol

    What's your assessment of the efficiency / blade feel of the Dovo Primo Matt ?
    Is it significantly more efficient than a Merkur 23c / 34c / DE 89 ?
    Happy New Year!

    • @RazorEmporium
      @RazorEmporium  10 місяців тому

      more than the merkur line for sure. less than other modern offerings however. its a great alternative to many of the main stream razors!

    • @jensebu78
      @jensebu78 10 місяців тому

      I didn't have that feeling that it was more efficient than the Merkur line... If you really want more efficiency get an other razor

  • @jensebu78
    @jensebu78 10 місяців тому +1

    If i would wear a beard , like yours , i might shave with a straight more. Chin area really is a pain in the a...s. My szubbles on the upperlipp area is to coarse so i really have problems to get threw them. At least ATG it is not working with a straight. So i prefer the DE Razors. I tried the Primo. I do not really find a difference in shaving to the normal Merkur CC raszors. And that after developing for several years and making hundreds of prototypes (as they say). I do not need that razor. Staying with the other 35 i have ;-)

    It would have been so great to see one pass shaving off the mustache and gotee with the Dovo SR. Without any trimming or prepping from scissors or electric trimmer. Just 1 pass chop it off.
