This tape has gotten me through some of the worst days of my life. Back one more time for its healing powers.
One day I wanna be as great as these guys.
Keep going brother.
Me too
no doubt.
One of the best instrumental albums, these dudes along with Dilla and Madlib are true beat Gods
My two favorite producers on one album, this is the music tat plays in my heaven.
This
vearheart42 i love 9th but i dont think he'll ever get to pete's level, not that you said any of that. check out kev brown, older illmind, notts, m-phazes, apollo brown - clouds.
The Fresh Peddler - Beats For People Who Hate Radio While I'll agree I've always loved 9th wonder. Some of the work he's done has been consistantly my favorite, not to say he's "Better" than anyone else though.
The Fresh Peddler - Beats For People Who Hate Radio who?lmbAo. Madlib (((((
#Your list
tweeze2700 its not a list, its a few recommendations. i didnt include madlib because i shouldnt have to recommend him to anyone here, just like i didnt mention dilla.
also madlib isnt the best person to suggest to someone without specifying titles because he is so all over the place. Not everyone has respect for loops/chops in sequence and he can be loop heavy, however its hard for anyone to dislike much of the older illmind stuff.
madlib is one of my favs though and would easily be my first choice of those guys to go digging with, then kev brown. AFAIK , illmind doesnt really sample anymore, but when it came to blending instruments and samples I cant say anyone really did that better.
since were into more well known names now i may as well mention jake one and marco polo who have both been around for a while and have continued stepping their game up. white van music and port authority 2 are some great works.
This is so sick. Pete Rock is such a legend.
Edit: So is 9th Wonder. I appreciate what both of these pioneers have brought to the level of Hip Hop production.

Thank you for the props much appreciated. I met J Dilla a year before he passed and that was an honour. Been a Fan of his Music since Slum Village was known as J 88 and since that "The Rhyme" Remix he did for Keith Murray. Dilla Dog was mad chill, quiet and mad humble. What makes me laugh is a lot of Hip Hop Producers today wanna ask for $500,000 + for beats and they ain't even on the same level as Dilla, Premo, Pete Rock, Dr Dre, Marley Marl etc. RIP James Yancey aka J Dilla
1st track just draws you in
Damn right 😂
Real hip hop
And iTunes only has the first version 😩
I was just thinking the same thing.
"Night Cruse". "Funky". "Am I Dreaming". are My ShIts🤌🏾💯😎💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾Them Joints is HAAAARRD!!!! ⛈️⚡💣👌🏾
Two of the Greatest beatsmith, this what real hip hop sounds like! Peace
I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who likes this kind of music, long live hiphop
Alchemist, Evidence, Madlib, Oh No, DJ Babu, Battlecat, DJ Quik, are all great beatmakers/producers from he west

My 5 favs J Dilla (RIP), DJ Premier (RIP Guru), Pete Rock (RIP TROY & Heavy D), Madlib and The RZA (RIP ODB)
A couple of the best producers in Hip Hop! Truly!
The top emcees in hip-hop got interviewed for the books that preserve all their techniques, *HOW TO RAP* & *HOW TO RAP 2*.
Everyone from Tribe, Pharcyde, Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, Wu, Tribe Called Quest, Cypress Hill, and Chuck D were interviewed inside those books.
Two of the greatest to ever do it
So glad to hear this again! I used to keep this playing back in 2010 when I discovered it. Ended up losing all my music files on my computer last year and this album was lost. Brings back a lot of memories!
Pete Rock is the fuckin legend
Love anything by Pete & C.L.
one of the best collabs.
Pete Rock transcends his genre, this man makes straight ART.
A real classic. This project was my soundtrack to life back when it dropped. A real time-capsule of the era of Hip-Hop at the time.

That Phyllis Hyman sample on Track 1 is crazy! PR is the best!

So many producers ... The art of sampling!
Another fantastic collection of beats. 15 people deserve free hearing tests.

Boyyyyyy Pete Rock did it again with those instrumentals...beats off the chain.
"from the basement" is my favorite cut.
10:58 Hi baby the first one instrumental by 9th Wonder that I fell in love in 2016, I was in Mexico as an exchange student from Ukraine, and I randomly found it on internet, and just couldn't stop to listen this masterpiece
After some years a while, I found other masterpieces of this great man. My heartbeat goes with this musics beat, I love it so much
2015 I started varsity, went online and came across this compilation. 6years later I'm still loving it. This is just wonderful
This beat send rythms around the world
I so don't want this class to be over...
I found “am I dreaming” listening to MySpace music! 12-13 years ago. My best friend moved away back then. We reconnected on that service. I put my number up. Zero regards. It worked. He got distance again I finally got on other social media. Got back again. He finally moved back. Times had changed. Family started for each. We where different type of people as in we “looked” different. He just got murdered snd we never got that chance and I’m going to miss him forever. Finding this track after all this time makes me think of him and I’m so glad I finally found it. Music/life. One in the same for most
Thank you Sir appreciate the props "real recognise real" BIG UP all my real Hip Hop Heads World wide that know what time it is. Peace

This is beautiful. 👌
They actually did the whole album in 2 afternoons, and the second afternoon was spent listening to it and chillin' out.
10:58 is my favorite kind of 9th Wonder...
Metal Mike Couldn't agree more. The drums are just right, and don’t even get me started on his sampling in that track.
Metal Mike I'm not surprised they kept that one as an instrumental.
Straight knock, head noddin, stoner, golden age of hip-hop. That beat bangs my nigga...
Yup that my fav 9th wonder style also. So smooth
+Metal Mike De La Soul flowed on this. Damn a beautiful track.
This tape has saved my life so many times.
That's the part in Maxwell song that I love is the very end when he held that note....I love that he put it in his song
class is truley in session - this joint is damn smooth!!
this album goes down !! u can ride and just listen to this all day ...
To sum it up: Thank (...) for good music! No matter what name is behind the music, I respect all kind of it, as long as it is true!
Greatness at it's best....hands down.
This is so good. Just what I've been looking for
Wow. I remember downloading these tracks offa KaZaA back in the day. HS days when times were so much simpler.
There are tons of great things on the internet. 2 girls 1 cup, lemon party, goatse, and tubgirl for instance, but nothing quite lives up to this 48:37 of holy goodness.
bostonpharaoh sssssshhhhhh
never mention the end of holy goodness
let it run~
10:58: the most soulfulest and tightest beat I ever heard from 9th
This art form resonates through the soul. What a vibe.
That Hi Baby (Lounge?) instrumental has got to be one of the sickest bangers I've ever come across.
The second "whatever you say" is so soulful
Frederik Rasmussen yeah thats Pete's cut
Love it all, but that first track though! So relaxing and gives off some great vibes

Give Kev Brown his props too!!... His baselines is right under Petes fr
I'm not a Hater either and real recognise real. But most of the Kids today don't pay attention to those who paved the way before Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Drake, J Cole etc I was speaking to a Kid the other day and when I told him DJ Kool Herc started Hip Hop he had no clue who the hell I was talking about. He didn't even know Hip Hop had history in Jamaica that's where Kool Herc was before he came back to The Bronx and had Block Parties. Kids today need to do their History about Hip Hop Culture
Fantastic
HIP HOP GOLD.
I like the smokiness in this album.
