Please make a note about this for everyone. As an IT professional I can tell you to please format thumb drives that are bigger than 2GB as exFAT and not FAT32. I can assure you this is still readable by the car as I just did it. FAT32 is a very old format that doesnt always work any more.

How to use Google maps, navigator in Atto3 model 2022 ?
Follow the link in the description to sideload apps. Only some versions of the Google Maps app which are installed will work.
Appreciate your videos, many thanks. Just taken a delivery for SEAL Excellence in the UK. There must have been an update to the software, as sideload apps does not seem to be working. Did everything you suggested, care recognises the USB stick (symbol top right) but no prompt for password or to install. Using the file explorer and clicking on APK files brought up a warning message to NOT install any software. Anyone with any suggestions out there?
Yes, sideloading has been disabled since the release of software v1.7.

Hi, thanks for subscribing :) If you have a Chinese import, there is no way to update the language.
Amazing simple tutorial. Important question: I have a BYD atto 3 and I did exactly as you said and successfully installed Waze and UA-cam music... These are the issues I encountered:
1) when I launched Waze, it couldn't connect to the internet, even though I have a data sim card installed in the car. Maybe the car, by default, blocks internet connection to 3rd party apps? Any way you know to make it have internet connection so I could use Waze as an independent app withOUT android auto?
2) youtube music: when entering the app, it says I have to login to a Google account to be able to use youtube music, however it won't let me press on "sign in" and just sign in.. Instead, it just closes the app.. Any workaround to sign in to Google account to be able to use Google apps such as youtube music?

Hi, did you install the apps linked in the description? Only older versions of apps which do not require google play services will work. Please see link in description. I have those apps installed and they work fine. 3rd party data is not blocked by the car here in NZ, unsure of other regions. To bypass the cars data connection, you can always connect the car to your mobile phone data hotspot to troubleshoot the issue.
Would we lose our car Warranty if we install third party apps???
I did the downgrade to the previous official BYD firmate update, installed All apps I wanted, and updates to latest OTA update. Everything os fine, however
Today I went to BYD Málaga,Spain, and the seller made me think about this issue, ... nevertheless, I think amy engine issue, car parts issue etc should have a different Warranty, and infotainment another One .
If your Seat, belt or a windows does not work properly, Warranty should cover those kind of issues independently if you installed third party apps or not...

Anything I say is irrelevant. Your local consumer protection laws apply. As per your example, if your window switch stops working, they can't blame the side loaded apps for that problem. If the voice control features don't work, then yes - your side loaded apps can be blamed - but you can always uninstall/reset then ask them to solve the problem.

Will this work if you use Apple CarPlay? I'm thinking of buying an Atto 3, so it doesn't come with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay like Tesla? Nor it there wireless connection for it???
Wired Apple Car play is available in New Zealand. Android Auto is yet to arrive and unsure if it will be wired or wireless at launch. The hardware is there already, delays are software related.
i have got a byd dolphin and tried your method couple of times, it doesnot ask for password .

Have an issue with the Android Auto whereby music will play through phone speaker instead of the car speakers, any idea how to fix?
Have you tried disconnecting, forgetting and reconnecting your bluetooth connection between car and phone?

You’re welcome, best to try formatting with a Windows PC, some people have had issues with Mac. Also check the folder name is correct. This process will not work if you have updated to latest release V1.7 of the software.
I sideloaded Netflix, but the screen is black only sound. do u have the same issue?

With v1.7 update, this feature is available natively.
With the HUR apk is that a trial? If so can you pay for the app via the BYD?
If you go to the link in the description, install the HUR file you find there, it is the full version. But if you feel like it, you can buy me a coffee. BYD does not currently have any payment infrastructure on the ATTO 3.

Main issue I cant seem to fix is that the phone-calls still go through the phone and not the Atto 3 - when I say Ok Google. Any ideas?
Hi, try to forget the Bluetooth connection on both the car and phone and then pair up again. See if that works? Also press and hold the silver volume roller down for 10 seconds to reboot the infotainment screen, ensure you use a good quality USB cable.

Sorry mate, I don't know about the mobile data status in India. You can install a SIM and check if it works. It would have to be a data-only SIM as the car does not support voice calls via the SIM card.

Then you need to go to your dealership for software updates. Some car components are dealer-only updates. Unlike Tesla where everything is OTA.

No, once installed, all the apps will stay even if you update the software. If you reset the system, side loaded apps will be removed.
@@KiwiDr3ams USB sideloading is block in V1.5. Any new videos to cover side load in v1.5? Just want to install the sentry app which is not in App Store I believe.
Any idea if you can sideload Plex? Watching my own content would be preferable to Netflix.
Hi, if you can find a Plex version APK which doesn't require Google play support, and have unlimited mobile data to play with, I don't see why not? I don't think Plex works with Android auto.
For Audio I use Hi-Fi cast and it works with Android auto too.
@@KiwiDr3ams cheers, I picked mine up on Thursday so will have a play around today. After posting I remembered that Plex is also accessible in a browser so at worst Firefox will be a big help.

Can't get the netflix app to work. Even after correct input of user and password. Updating the app just goes into never ending loading loop. Anyone here got the netflix app working?

Which app? Install an older version of the app which does not require Google play services. It will require triall n error until you find a version which works .Link in description has apps which work.

Hi Kiwi Dreams, love your tutorials on BYD! Have a question for you or anyone from this channel. When connected my iphone 11 to Atto3, using Apple Map from CarPlay, initial turn by turn audio guidance is heard, no subsequent audio guidance afterwards. Using iphone itself (not plugged in), the turn by turn audio guidance from Apple Map works as expected. Do you experience this issue?
Thank you for your kind words. I think this issue is common when you use a non genuine iphone cable, else get a cable which is authorized officially as 'made for iPhone'. I don't have an iPhone, so can't provide further guidance.
Why do you need to sideload an app to use Android Auto when the car comes with wireless Android Auto anyway?

Format the USB on a windows machine or use the right format on a Mac that works similar to Fat32 for windows.
I know this is older video, but would this work in the current Seal model also?
Try it and let us know. If your car has a more recent update, it is unlikely to work.
I'm not skilled enough to see if the Seal has the ability or not.

If you have the latest v1.7 update installed, no, this will not work.
I have installed headunit reloaded as per your video and have it working flawlessly each time I plugged in my phone. However, after I had changed over to a new phone, I can't seem to trigger the headunit reloaded each time I plug in the new phone. The new phone had already been configured and setup exactly like the previous phone and paired accordingly to the car. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Maybe try uninstalling headunit and then reinstalling it.

Sorry mate, I can't troubleshoot without any info. I've just updated to V1.8 of the software and my Netflix app still works. I've always used UA-cam via the Mozilla browser and that still works too. So I don't know what to say - I'm using the same files as linked in the description.

Hi, I have sideloaded these apps, but most keep crashing. I also sideloaded Google Play Services, but I wonder if you know how to get the apps to work properly?
Did you download and install the apps i have linked in the description? They are working fine for me. Play services will not work.
Can you play music direct from a usb input say an iPod or from the SD card?
You can play music directly from a USB or microSD card, but NOT from an iPod unless it is over Bluetooth.

Thanks for the video, but it didn't work for me, I've formatted the usb drive with Fat32 (as described), created a folder with the name "third part apps" (as described), and put the apks in there, but when connecting to the USB port in my Atto3 it didn't pop anything, I do see the folder and files in file manager though. Tried wirh 2 usb drives, what am I doing wrong?😢
It's 'third party apps' , are you on v1.5 or v1.6 of the multimedia software?

The APK file I've shared works on my car. An Active internet connection is required.

Hi, did you install the Netflix app as linked in the description? I have installed that version and it works fine. Please ensure you have a working internet connection - wifi or hotspot from your phone. The built-in SIM card may not be able to support. If you install the latest version of Netflix app, Google play store support is required, that is currently not available on the Atto 3.
@@KiwiDr3ams yes I installed the one you suggested. I have WiFi and hotspot as well. Neither help.
Restart the infotainment screen. Press down the silver volume roller for 10+ seconds until the screen blacks out and restarts. I can't think of any other solution sorry.

I followed your instructions in the video and tried to do the same. I was successful till what your video show at 6 minutes and 13 seconds. However once I remove and insert the cable into the mobile phone again nothing happens. actually I should get a prompt as per your video as instructed as per your video at 6 minutes and 15 seconds. But I dont get that prompt and the installation does not move ahead.

Are you using a genuine Samsung or your phone brand charging cable? Some aftermarket cables only support charging, not data transfer.

Warranty varies by region. Check with your local dealer if you are concerned.
@@KiwiDr3ams What about in India, can you check and tell me if it will void the warranty? I can't seem to find any article and my dealer isn't aware.
@@krishrachh59 As I understand, the thing about warranty is: If your warranty claim is unrelated to the software, the company can't deny a warranty claim to you. E.g. Window switch stopped working after 3 months, that cannot be due to the Netflix app, so they can't deny warranty repairs.
With this method, you can just delete the apps (tap and hold) or reset the whole infotainment system to eliminate the software as the issue for a potential warranty-related issue.

I don't have a Disney account so can't check. The latest version maybe won't work but an old one should. Which one? You have to do some trial and find out.
