To keep my wires together, I use a few 1" long pieces of heat shrink tubing spaced every 6-8" It's not perfect, but it works well enough. 1/4" tech flex braided wire sleeve is also good, using heat shrink to secure the ends.

This was only a temporary setup. I was waiting on zip cord to arrive. My battery is fused, which I should have mentioned in the video. I recall someone complaining that I had the fuse end attached to the radio instead of at the battery.
I like the idea of TechFlex. I didn’t even realize what that was. My fishing poles are transported in a very similar material! I may have to cut one up and use some heat shrink to lock it in place.

On all my radios I make sure I remove any standard connector with the least popular connector I can find on Amazon that has the worst reviews. Makes it a conversation piece when I go to Field Day and ask my fellow club members if they have a Kazakhstan transgender comboblator X23 space modulator connector for my 891.

But is the cost where it should be? Do you bring spares? What kind of crimper do you use with the KtgcX23sm connector? Does it go by an easier to remember name?

Modify my radios for the xt60 connector… much better than powerpoles for me..

We use both XT60 and Anderson in my high school’s robotics team. I don’t think the XT60 is as popular in the amateur radio scene, though. Not knocking it, but most of my friends and acquaintances use Anderson PP.

The Fuse goes to the Battery side and not to the rig !!!

Now’s the time! I may look at doing this to my Icom IC-7300. Don’t know if anyone has attempted that yet nor do I know if it’s possible. Guess I need to do some research.

Yep. I didn’t even know Japanese Industry Standard was a thing until today. That would explain why all of my mobile mount screws are all worn out.

I just use dollar store discount tin foil. About 2mm wide between the fuse holder contacts. I’ve never had one go bad. (Disclaimer: this is a false statement and meant as humor, though I have done it in an “emergency.”)

Do you have a link to either the stl file or a place to purchase the powerpole housing? I want to do this mod.

Here is the link. I also put it in the description. I must have closed my browser when I typed it the first time.
