VERY well done. Clear, informative and exactly the info I need for my 01. My next click is to go speaker shopping because my new head unit finished off the factory speakers. Not that the head unit has a bunch of power, but the factory speakers are crispy foam/cardboard and likely rated at about 5 watts RMS. Duh, I should have seen that coming... Many thanks and a Jeep wave form Ohio.
Thank you, I look for the things that are missing in the videos I watch, and try to do my best at paying attention to the details. Thanks for watching!
Hey mate. Got a TJ 2005 wrangler renegade that has stock 6 speakers, sub and I assume amp in the centre console next to sub. Looking to replace stock stereo. New one uses ISO. So was just going to get new harness and splice to new Stereo harness. Do you know if doing this will still allow stock sub and amp to work?
Actually, 225 watts of power measured peak to peak is about 75 watts rms. It's the same measurement. 75 watts RMS is the most power it can take, which is the same as 225 watts peak. Peak watts is measured peak to peak of the power signal where as rms is root means squared. So in other words, its not that it can take 225 watts for a moment but 75 watts is the most it can output continuously. 225 watts peak to peak is the most it can put out, which means 75 watts rms is the most it can put out, because that's the same amount of power. It can continuously put out 225 watts peak to peak because 225 watts peak to peak is 75 watts rms which is often referred to as continuous power.
actually, it can be true if the manufacturer goes with the actual numbers. Otherwise, peak is nothing but advertising BS. Ignore peak and pay attention to ONLY the RMS power.
Curious about the connection to the speaker as for negative or positive post to keep the speakers in phase. That is so both speakers vibrate in sync. Are the speakers marked neg or pos?
I really like how these guys show you with a 9 volt battery option to ensure you have it correct (marked or unmarked). When correct they will move outwards when connected to power, if they move inwards they are reversed (easy fix, just switch your wires) and enjoy that juicy sound! ua-cam.com/video/aALJ4DQhI78/v-deo.html
Yes, the TJ model was last made in 2006, this should fit models up to that point. Just in case- you can try a website like crutchfield or extreme terrain and use the model fitting tool that will have speakers, etc and tell you if they fit your model. Thanks for watching!
If your going to unhook the battery, unhook the negative side..and wouldn't hurt to shove in some foam for more bass..also I'd heat shrink your connections just for more security ..
Hey Matt, unfortunately no, the 5.25 won't pack the punch the upgraded sound system delivers for the JK. Jeep moved up to 6.5 speakers AND put tweeters on both sides up there. They actually did a pretty decent job moving up the sound quality for a factory model, but if you're like me, that sound only lasts so long. Web sites like quadratec and crutch field will have Alpine upgrade kits that can replace all the factory parts, but it can get $$. Maybe they would send me a set for an install video on the JK I am working on now :-p
Great question Matt, I'm going to give you the short answer, because this could get into the history of the Jeep pretty darn quick. The letters refer to the model year, as the Jeep Wrangler was given different designations as the model changed. YJ 86-95 TJ 96-2006 JK 2007-2017 JL 2018-?
That’s the speaker I have back there in my 2000 TJ, shop around a bit. In my opinion Kicker has great quality at affordable pricing, and there are newer slim line models that would probably work better. Just be sure you get a high RMS rated sub with an amp that will push the RMS rating solidly. I would go with a minimum 300 watt RMS rating for quality bass.
Nishant Gogna yes, I love kicker for both the sound quality and value. Be sure to get the ones with the highest RMS rating in your price range and you won’t go wrong. I play mine hard and loud, and they’re still going strong.
When you have the speakers out of your soundbar, it also makes a huge difference to fill the holes with polyfill. Easy upgrade to the sound
I've heard about this, do you know the cost related to the polyfill Kevin? Great tip!
COJeepGuy you can get a bag of poly fill at a hobby store for about $10. That’s enough to do a few of your Jeep buddies rides as well
@@TOCraft couple of bucks, pick up polyfill from you local arts and crafts store.
It's good to know your Kicker sub is tolerable.
Great Video ! I need to do this to my TJ because they sound horrible

Love these details- thank you for sharing!
You lost me at peak watts

A very helpful video thank you so much

Am I the only one wondering what happens to the Infinty amplifier box that was attached to the old speaker?
That so-called amplifier box is actually a crossover, in-line corssover.
Is there anyway you can link me to the product? Got a 2004 Wrangler and can’t seem to find good 5.25” speakers that’ll fit in the roll bar anywhere
My original link is no longer there, but search for kicker 5.25 speakers and look for the RMS rating you desire (the higher the better quality).
You saved me! Ive been looking for 6 inch speakers for hours.
I got my Alpine 6.5 components 100w rms hooked up to my Fosgate 100x4 rms amp
Do you know if this will fit in my 2002 Jeep Wrangler?

Amen... negative side carry's the highest load...
Great Job! Thanks for sharing
Colorado Jeep Guy is running Alabama plates. 😂. Nice helpful video.
LordOfNothingham born and raised, but love the CO life for over 10 years now, wish I had come sooner.
Can i get a link to these?
The Kickers or Polks. Every TJ owner that's replaced their soundbar speakers. hahah I blew the Polks and replaced with the Kickers.
Could I use these to replace my rear speakers in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sport?

Thanks man really appreciate your input, when you say JK What are you referring too?

Too bad you can only fit a 5.25” speaker, I’m hoping for 6” or 6.5” speakers
6.5 will fit in the soundbar. Also sell cheap adapter plates to run 5.25 in the front
What kind of enclosed speaker do you have in the back? And would it work in a 01 TJ?

2:12 nope. That's not an amplifier.
I catch myself like that all the time- you should see how many times I called the parking lights fog lights in the latest video! Thanks!
Roll Tide from BHM, AL! 🐘
Would this apply to a 2003 TJ?
Nishant Gogna my jeep is a 2000, so it should apply to the 2003 as well.
Thanks! Super helpful. Do you recommend Kicker? What's been your experience with those thus far?
Nishant Gogna yes, I love kicker for both the sound quality and value. Be sure to get the ones with the highest RMS rating in your price range and you won’t go wrong. I play mine hard and loud, and they’re still going strong.
Thank you! Now all I need is a video from you for the front speakers ;)
Those speakers were disintegrated
Negative terminal not positive
there is no power in speaker wires battery does not need to be disconnected
Thanks Paul! Hopefully everything is wired correctly and there is no power with the ignition off! Just in case though, safety……
That's not an amplifier, that is a crossover.
Lol
