Very high quality production mate! I like the concept you touch in this video. For me, the important thing is the focal range. You can't (yet, maybe) emulate a 105mm look with a 35 mm lens. I'm curious what you think about that!

Hey man great question! I mean technically you can! If you were shooting a high enough resolution, if your standing in the same spot and taking a photo of the same subject at the same distance with both these lenses. The amount of photo compression would be the same. What's changes is the amount of "wideness" you capture. So just to keep the numbers simple let's just say your shooting with a full frame 35mm F1 lens. Technically you could do a manual 3x crop with the 35mm lens that would result in the same images as if you were shooting a 105mm f3 equivalent lens on a camera with 3x crop factor. You'll lose a ton of resolution drop with that 3x crop but the image would look 99% the same compression and bokeh wise.
The same principle applies to FF VS APSC vs m4/3 sensors, the 35mm F1 lens becomes a 52.5mm lens on APSC, and a 70mm on m4/3!
Now if your assuming you images is 105mm f3 equivalent, you could now apply this effect go down to f1.4 or f1.8 look before it starts to look too artificial!
I hope I answered your question well enough!

@@CongThanhContent Thanks for answering! I might still don't get what you mean, because I also use longer focal lengths for more compression on a human face for example. Instead of a bigger features (like a nose) with 18mm, you get a more pleasing image at 105mm. Or do you not mean the amount of frame filled, but the actual physical distance? Do you get what I mean? I might be saying it in a confusing way..

Ey no worries I think I getcha! So to break down on compression. Compression is caused by how far you are from the subject. Not by how wide the focal length is!
If you were to shoot both these lenses in a full frame format, let's use a 50mm F1 lens and 100mm f2 lens, just to keep the numbers a bit more simple.
Let's frame and take the photo of the subject with the 100mm lens. Now if you don't move and change to the 50mm lens and take the same photo you'll capture a 2x wider version of the exact same shot. But amount of compression doesn't change though. So if you crop your 50mm f1 lens by 2x, it would exactly like the 100mm f2 image.
The amount of compression only changes if you change the distance to your subject. So if you step closer with the 50mm lens to fill the subject up in frame you'll be changing perspective and amount of compression altogether. And the effect get much more drastic the closer you get to the subject.
So if you want to make a 50mm look like a 100mm stand far back and crop in!
It's a bit tricky to explain with out visual examples but I hope it helps!

If you have time to watch these guys do a great explanation and examples between 2: 30 - 9: 45 mark. Just skip to the 9 minute mark if you want to jump to the conclusion! ua-cam.com/video/ACFV3aHjbyg/v-deo.htmlsi=G7y0resXm4rdh0HR

Yo! Epic production quality. Who else with less than 250 subs is making this level content?!

Once the AI can determine what is actually foreground and background AND separate them cleanly then we can add simulated bokeh in post. But I just find doing it “in camera” still produces cleaner separation and with less work in post. So I would not sell of my fast primes yet.

Thanks for watching! Optically it will look better in camera forsure. But if consider the trades off of the cost of fast primes plus the weight difference, it's a really good tool to have. Also my examples were at f8! The fall off and seperation of effect on f1.8/2.8 images resulted in some really amazing results! With the depth map being able to seperate individual hairs even, from the background. Its still a situational tool but overall I'm still excited to see how it will get better!

This lens blur feature coupled with AI denoiser makes APS-C camera bodies more relevant than ever. Slapping a tiny f2.8 lens such as the Sigma 18-50mm producing clean photos at 27-75mm FFE f1.2: chef's kiss! We're not fully there yet. But hey, for those who edit photos anyway, it's compelling not to overspend on gear + carry loads of primes.👍

Everyone should sell their super fast pro lenses to me at a heavily discounted rate since they are basically relics now.

very cool--sometimes you start to look added in but that's the case with 1.8 anyway. I love this but I also hate this tech lol. I dont want everyone thinking they can do photos now haha

I was a bit bumped when I saw the new portrait feature of the iPhone 15 was only for jpegs, but this LR feature saved that and enables AI bokeh for IPhone Raw footage 😊
Thanks for sharing, great video as always 👍

Thanks man! The bokeh feature has developed so drastically over the last few years. I still remember the google pixel's processing multiple images to make a depth map. Was so awesome at the time but the tech was so rudimentary in comparison to LR version 😂 it takes a bit of processing even on my 13900k system so I get why iPhones don't keep it as raws

This is what I expected from an "AI" tool. Not generative artwork stolen from other artists talent.
