  • First we had the Mokka X, and now we have its smaller (in theory) brother - the Crossland X. Priced from £16,555, it's joining the uber-competitive small SUV market, but does have enough to put up a good fight? I gave it a drive to find out.
    The model tested is the Elite model, which is towards the top of the range and is priced from £17,755, with standard features such as 17" alloys, dual zone climate control, cruise control, 7” touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors and Vauxhall OnStar to name a few. The model tested does have a few optional extras such as navigation and a panoramic roof, so the car in video is priced at £23,580.
    Underneath the bonnet is a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol which offers 128bhp with 230Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and front wheel drive (no four wheel drive option for Crossland X), it will hit 62mph in 11.9 seconds, and the top speed is 128mph.

    Hello all, thanks for watching. Just a quick note, it turns out - much to my surprise - that the Grandland X is NOT available with four wheel drive as mentioned in this video. It does have 'Grip Control' but it's still very much a two wheel drive car. I find that odd as the smaller, Mokka X IS offered with four wheel drive... *scratches head in confusion*

    I have a 69 reg 1.2 automatic i would say it acceptable in terms of driving comfort the steering is a bit on the vague side boot is spacious for a large supermarket shop it's basically a school run McDonald's drive-thru's, and shopping car doe's the job well but will definitely not blow your socks off.

    This must be the same gearbox I drove in the Citroen C3 Aircross, and it's really bad indeed, no feel whatsoever, and that's from somebody who had a Rover 45...Even the sales guy agreed. The automatic however is really superb! (EAT6) So always go for that...

    Wow man - did you have a bad day? Or have you been driving Lexus an hour before:)? This car really does't have any serious flaws (does't not have any great advantages also). This is not a luxury, soft car - this is cheap familly/city car. Looks decent and classic (crossovers often looks horrible), has big trunk space, simple and well thought out interior with good visibility. This is not a road cruiser. Sorry, but I drove this car and your whining is completely unjustified.

      Hello MW mv, thanks for watching, and thanks for the feedback. No I hadn't driven a Lexus before, and no I didn't have a bad day. I wouldn't say I was 'whining' either, I was simply giving my honest assessment of the car. If you watch my video on the Grandland X you'll see I had more positive things to say about it.

      @@CarObsession Well, what would you call 3:13 or 4:38:)? In my opinion complaining (a lot) about lack of smoothness in this type of car is just a little unfair. This car should be practical and reliable. For the rest - I expect to be just average (average=good). And where I live it's price is close to Dacia (of course without pointless gimmicks like glass roof, or big alloys). So my point is - I'm a little surprised to see a car reviewer in Crossland complaining (a lot:)) and being so unhappy about smoothness, and lack of power. Moreover - I drove 130HP petrol version od 16in rims and in my opinion it is really lively and smooth city car.

      @@mwmv921 3:13, I was simply saying I don't like the gearbox, which is a common complaint I have with PSA Group gearboxes. 4:38, I was just saying the ride is firm. In the UK, the Vauxhall is considerably more expensive, just so you know.

    I have a 2021 plate and the clutch bite is shocking! Is it just my car or are other people having issues? If I was to replace clutch would the biting point be as shocking? Has anyone had thier clutch changed on this car and felt it to be a lot better? Thanks

      @CarObsession  Рік тому

      How many miles has the car done? Also, when you say it's 'shocking', how so? In experience I find the PSA (well, Stellantis now if you want to be pedantic) have often had higher biting points and I've found the clutch pedal to be springy.

    Test drove the crossland recently myself for the lols and I remarked the brake and clutch to be ridiculously close together. Ironically; the closeness reminded me of my aunties old 307 I used to drive occasionally and then the penny dropped that my instinct was right as it was PSA designed. Drove the diesel and it was nice and nippy and torquey. Steering wasn't bad and felt a bit more weightier than the Mokka (which has zero feel). I also found the gear change annoying, I felt 3rd and 5th had a very far throw. The whole car felt un-GM and its a shame as I think its nicer looking than the Mokka and especially the white and black press car you have. I hope the ride and handling are better on the Grandland as I think it looks great....better sized and proportioned compared to the Mokka.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  6 років тому +1

      Hello Shane, thank you for watching! I must say I didn't notice that the pedals were too close together, but that's probably because I was distracted by the gearbox. In my opinion it's one of the worst gearboxes I've experienced during my short(ish) time of doing Car Obsession.
      In regards to the looks, I agree, it's a handsome looking thing. The inside is a pleasant place to be as well, although I still think the handbrake is a rather peculiar shape. Speaking of shape, I still don't understand why Vauxhall has decided to make the Crossland X such a similar size to the Mokka X. I'd quite like to see the two together to how they compare...

      Oh and I also think the latest GM infotainments are class.....I'd happily swap my VW infotainment for the latest GM....I can tell you for a fact that even the Opel Vauxhall staff have been left scratching their heads at how to differentiate it.....my understanding (but it seems to have changed) was the Mokka would be differentiated as Opels 4x4 offering as it sells in relative higher volumes in left hand markets but as we both know 4x4 Mokka sized cars don't cut the mustard in right hand markets.

Firstly, 'piky' is actually spelt 'picky', secondly, don't tell me to shut up, there really is no need for that, and thirdly, I'm afraid your deluded about this car being "amazing in every respect".
