This man complains that Mehdi called out Israeli lies instead of letting them parrot Israeli propaganda and LIES! This older generation is really weird! Instead of complaining a genocide, you complain that kids are protesting a genocide! You complain that journalists are doing their jobs!
You have a valid point about Mehdi. That said, I don't quite get why an interviewer can not challenge the interviewee if he is lying or misleading. Too many idiotic, nonensesical, or clearly anti-humanity responses, especially coming from defenders of Israel, go unchallenged or probed with facts and logic by interviewers on the mainstream media.
You can, and should, definitely challenge the interviewee. I couldn't agree more! One of my biggest complaints about journalists is their phoning it in, so to speak. The problem I have with Hasan isn't his ability to question--he's great at that--it's that he should focus on getting answers not on winning arguments. So with Regev, he dealt a knockout blow. Everyone watching knew Regev was lying, covering up. Instead of leaving it there, Hasan started attacking so he could claim the victory personally. I don't believe that is sustainable. It's like sports. Hasan needs to learn when to pass the ball. Work within the system of reporters, analysts and commentators.
A doctor doesn't have to be healthy in order to cure and unhealthy person. A couch doesn't have to in peak physical form to make make brilliant team. A person doesn't have to be perfect to teach others. No one is perfect. That doesn't mean they can't be good at teaching something.
Agreed 100% He recently mentioned Candance Owens and said she will never appear on Zeteo ... all while preaching about his "unbiased" media company! Add to that, Candance is not a fan of Israel, so she agrees with him on that. Also, I am not a fan of his interview style, if he agrees with the guest, its all good, If not, he doesn't allow them to complete a sentence without interrupting! He may think thats a sort of grilling, but its actually extremely rude.
Yes, I was really shocked that recently he kept interrupting Abdullah Hammoud. If he should interrupt anyone it should be Cornel West and all the wild-ass stuff he says ;) (no offense to Cornel West).
you could argue that broadcast interviews are not strictly "reporting". and it is not as black and white as you say. there is no clear demarcation of where a show like Mehdi Hasan stops being commentary pieces and becomes a reporting piece. You are making a very fragile point, (edit: leaving aside whether it is actually crossing a line to call an interviewee a liar, which is debatable. You can state that "your statement is factually inaccurate" , that's close to saying liar. But then if you can show intentionality, which in Regev's case is laughably easy and blatant, why can't you say he is a liar, because he is intentionally suppressing a fact or simply telling things that he knows are false. ie he is lying).
what do you think about the norwegian reporter who interviewed the israeli govt spokesman for Norway tv that went viral, in terms of your point here? Is it appropriate to push back on lies with questions or evidence or is that the purview of commentary? By the way i know very little about journalism aside from what i think may be idealised presumptions.
I haven't seen that interview. If it's a discussion between commentators, sure one can push back all they want. If it's an interview between an anything and a government spokesperson then the rules of the media company are enforced; that is, MSNBC will set the policy, not the whatever (Mehdi). Mehdi didn't want to work under MSNBC's policy so he left. Yet, the policy is there to protect both sides. Without a clear policy from Zeteo I believe many people will avoid Medhi because they don't know what he'll do. Keep in mind, he controls the edit.
As an opinion host, with rules that favor him over the guest, he will be very limited in who will talk to him. Unless Zeteo grows beyond 1 million the audience will have little influence. We shall see!

I agree with you, but I can't cover everything in every video. Watch my latest if you have time. Thanks!
This guy needs another pair of glasses.
You're the 2nd person who said that. I am beyond clueless I guess.

@maxcanthelpit thanks. Now I get that part too.

Of course! Same applies for me I hope.
A doctor doesn't even heal himself da!
Only time will tell......
Agreed 100%

Yes, these days it is a fragile point. However, he's the one who says he's going to fix journalism not me ;)

What the hell is this !!?
Mehdi calls himself as opinion host, Even though your logic is poor and encouraging lie in the interview. As an audiaence I would not like it.

Do u have an obsession with the guy !?
No. The Daily Show was off this week. I've probably run out of things I want to say on this.
What's your point 🤔 I listened you for 130 seconds & almost fell alseep. Going to watch something on Zeteo 😂😂😂
Well, should you ever get insomnia I am at your service! :)
