The factory collision repair for most trucks call for the rear frame section to have the welds ground off to replace it. Then the replacement is mig welded in. If they weren’t supposed to be welded then the factory wouldn’t specify this and they wouldn’t have done it. Welding on a frame is considered structural in nature. The warning is there to prevent people with no/little knowledge of welding from attempting a structural weld. Besides the Superduty, C/K, and Ram are routinely reinforced by companies by welding reinforcements in. If it wasn’t possible and wasn’t safe I would think all these fitters would be out of business.
Just don't weld on a heat treated frame like on a Kenworth or Peterbilt. On those frames you can only drill on the side of the frame, never the top or bottom. What you have there, welding is fine as long as you know what you are doing, which I am pretty sure you do.
They say dont weld on frames because only a good ethical responsible welder who is certified should be welding on frames. Joe average in his back yard should *NOT* be welding his trailer hitch to his truck in the back yard..
I have welded broken frames that were in half back together. Prep and process is key. Whoever is "they" they need to tell the factory that because my superduty factory frame welds are a joke.
Lmao why did you do that to your main frame ? You just fkd yourself, now instead of the subframe eventually weakening and cracking, you just switched it to your main frame
