I haven't a chance to check comments here for a while, and wow! I should have saved it for a day when I was feeling down, because you all gave me such a lovely ego boost. Thank you for your comments. Thank you, thank you.
You probably get this a lot, but Ryoko was my absolute favorite from the series. She's just such a fun and complex character and you did such a fantastic job in bringing each aspect of her personality to life. Yours will always be the definitive voice for that rascally space pirate. Thanks for the great memories.
Yep. Gotta agree with everyone else here, Ms. Burchard. It's probably weird, but your voice is pretty memorable to most of us growing up through our teen years and later. To say that we appreciate everything that you and the other VA's in the industry do is an understatement. Thanks so much for being such an inspiration to so many of us. :)
Your comments are great! Thank you all so much. When we started recording the Tenchi dubs in 1995, we didn't know people would still love it after years went by. So I feel lucky to have been a part of it.
I watched during its original run on Toonami in 2000 and fell in love with those characters. Once the dvd's and blu rays finally became available I didn't hesitate to buy them all these years later. I'd gladly pay for some more Tenchi! You guys did a great job and i'll always be a fan.
man, it was great hearing your voice once again, i loved your voicing of Ryohko. you are the only one who could bring out the evil space pirate, the mature beauty, aggressiveness, and sincerity in the character. seriously, i was really upset when you didn't voice the character in OVA 3 and in Tenchi GXP, the other voice actress sounded so wrong and jarring. even the Japanese voice actress doesn't compare to you. even now, i rematch the series quite regularly, mostly because of yours and Kate Vogt's performances. thank you very much for your performance.
Loved watching you voice Ryoko as a kid, one of the liveliest woman in anime history! (I gotta be real with you though, i always had hoped that Tenchi would end up with Princess Aiyaka XD) Hope to see you at more in the future :D
So you are the voice of Ryoko. I was wondering who you were. I thought your voice was too soothing for a pirate when I was young but then Ryoko ended up my favorite character in the show due to voice & personality. Well done!
Grimoire666 I didn't really enjoy the 3rd OVA much. I used to have the dvd boxset for it but got rid of it. Her voice change was one of the reasons. Nothing against Mona Marshall. I've enjoyed other roles she has done. But was really unfitting to play Ryoko in my opinion.
Thanks for all the great comments! It was fun to record this for DidYouKnowAnime. I can't answer the question about the tail. I don't think she had it when she was naked, but I know she had it sometimes. Maybe it was part of her outfit? Matt Miller and I are going to be at Chibi Pa in West Palm Beach in November. Come!
Just wanted to write and say thank you for actually doing this. I I got excited when I saw the Tenchi Muyo was done by Did You Know Anime, and when I realized it was actually you, the voice of Ryoko, I literally exclaimed giddily! I loved Tenchi Muyo, it was one of my favorite shows/animes growing up and still holds a big place of nostalgia and joy in my heart. I was a big fan of Ryoko which contributed to my liking for the show. Its sad that I can't find it on any media sites/programs like Netflix and Crunchyroll (there is GXP but it just doesn't compare for me). So its awesome that you did this and thanks again for all the childhood memories! Sincerely, Dennis Danelia
I can't wait to meet you in November! I'm so excited for Chibi Pa! And what a wonderul video, it was so informative. It's great to hear your voice. If cats could talk they would sound like you!
Madam, Thank so very, very, VERY much to your contribution, to one of the greatest series ever made. Your work along with Matt's, Jennifer's and the rest really put a glimmer in my life and helped me get through some very harsh times. I really hope to see you and the others in the Austin/San Antonio area. Meeting the cast is on my bucket list.
Thank you Petrea for voicing Ryoko. Ryoko was my first waifu when I was younger. You made Ryoko sound compassionate, charming and cool. Ryoko was a strong independent character who was a badass. Thanks again Petrea. 😀😍
Ryoko was always my favorite and Petrea's incredible and dynamic voice acting really brought her to life. Discovering this after all these years was a real treat.
How did I miss this? Anyway, the picture of Ryoko may have caught my attention. But the fact that you got her voice actress to do the video made this even more amazing! If Petrea Burchard sees this comment. I just want to say, thank you for voicing one of the most amazing female characters in anime history!
Ryoko was one of my favorite characters and still is! I loved her attitude and I think Petrea did a beautiful job with the right amount of attitude and sass. Wish some of the recent dubs were that well done. Thanks for sharing this it was so fun to watch!
Oh my goodness I love you're voice! I haven't heard it since I was a little kid watching Toonami - over 10 years ago. I totally forgot about this show and how awesome your voice acting is. Good luck in all!
So cool, the voice for Ryoko did this! She was my favourite Tenshi Muyo character! O: I had to pause after that burn about women not having strong personalities. Ouch man, ouch.
Marty Kirra Indeed. I'd bet my right arm that Hayashi and Hasegawa (people who helped make said strong female characters) left in no small part due to such reasons...said reasons being a misogynist not wanting to let Ryoko be Ryoko! (& for the record, I'm right-handed.)
You are my favorite VA to my favorite character of all time. Honestly, I really didn't mind that you didn't do Oav3 and Gxp, because by that time, that wasn't Ryoko. Now with this reveal concerning Kajishima, I finally understand that I don't think he could ever envision a complex Ryoko or many of the other characters.
Far as I'm concerned, she's the only Ryoko. Her voice has that perfect mix of maturity and roughness mixed with a playful undertone and just a hint of brat that so sums ups our favorite space pirate. Don't think she'd sound right voiced by anyone else (to me at least.) :)
Best and only as far as I'm concerned! At least from the english side of things. Her voice acting has such great range. I wish she would have done more anime! :3
Petrea Burchard For what it's worth, soothing isn't the word I'd pick, but you've got one of those voices that I identify with lots of good memories despite the show airing during a particularly troubling time of my life. I can disconnect with the world and be 12 year old me again. Incidentally 12 year old me is doing the happy dance, it's a rather entertaining image.
Oh my god the giant rush of nostalgia simply from hearing your voice again after so long was greatly appreciated. I remember having watched this show religiously when I was young and it really was a great introduction to the world of anime I've come to know and love. Thank you so much for some amazing years
It's a damn shame (puting it lightly) how he actually commented that "because there are no strong female personalities like that in real life". I'm glad I got to grow up with the strong female characters, its mentalities like this that holds back other shows potential to have an even fuller and beautiful world and characters.
It seems like something that might be a weird translation or slightly out of context. Mostly because while it is a super sexist thing to say, the rest of the series didn't really tone down their personalities, there's still plenty of ass kicking and girl power found in OVA 2 and 3. So its conflicting with the idea that things changed at all.
First Second I actually wish it were true, and you're right to be taken aback by just how sexist that is, but unfortunately after studying Kajishima's work for five years now, I've found him to be that kind of person: clueless when it comes to women. He's such a shut-in that he literally doesn't understand modern times and the fact that women are people too, complete with their own unique personalities spanning the spectrum of masculine and feminine. Look at any of his work, especially when it's something he has total control over (novels, doujinshi, etc.) and you can see for yourself.
dkdrock456 - SERIOUSLY. Where the hell did that dude (Kajishima) grow up? I dunno, maybe it's something specific to Japanese culture because Japan is still more sexist and patriarchal than most Western countries and expects women to act like "Yamato Nadeshiko" to an extent in public. Even with the saccharine language and cutesy, childlike high-pitched falsetto so many adult Japanese women use. I feel like if Kajishima spent a few years in the US he'd definitely have a different view about women like that supposedly not existing in real life.
I could not contain my inner fanboy while watching this, I had such a big smile on my face. =D One of my favorite voice actresses doing a Did you know video on a series I watched during my childhood who was also the voice of my favorite character in it!!! WOO!!!!!! This also answered some of the questions I had for a very long time of the show. No wonder some of the characters were different after the first OVA episodes..
I've read that Kajishima intends to have Tenchi married to all of the girls at some point in the OVA. This always disappointed me, especially now, knowing Tenchi was meant to be with Ryoko originally. I wonder why he thinks Tenchi shouldn't choose just one and if it has something to do with his idea of girls not having such strong personalities in reality. I always thought it was kind of obvious Ryoko would end up with Tenchi given their interactions and that SHE best balances HIM. Also, Ryoko is too strong to have to share her man with anyone else. It's this logic that makes me less fond of OVA 3 because it's too deviant of the Tenchi we were made familiar with from the beginning. To me, Ryoko and Tenchi will always be meant for each other.
Well considering he is in direct line for the throne and the king can have several "wives" it fits the harem ideology (not to mention feudal monarchies and their mistresses). The tie between Ryoko and Tenchi is done extremely well, and I agree that they make a far better couple than any of the others, granted Washu can be quite interesting at times.
I liked that it was better with Ryoko and Tenchi. A lot of th times for Harem anime there is always the main character and the girl he was parred with early on. Though this isn't the case in school time Rumble.
Agreed I don't think ayeaka or ryoko would ever share. I think the whole marry them all thing came around because kajishima just wasnts to keep milking the series and not dedicate to an ending. Once tenchi commits to someone kajishima would lose the compitiin element of thecseries that he seems to think is the only draw Sucjs either way. Personally I think the first 2 OVAs are the best tenchi stuff but that the series could have used the ending from unicerse . Universe was uneven but it handled the tenchi ryoko relationship well.
Right on. Ryoko is definitely the best match for Tenchi, and her relationship with him is much more legit since she's known him his whole life. More to the point, I don't think any of the other girls need Tenchi the way Ryoko does and vice versa. Tenchi's a total doormat most of the time, so Ryoko's forceful personality forces him to get tough and be decisive while his compassion and patience is just what Ryoko needs after a lifetime of being an evil puppet, reining in her more destructive tendencies. She strengthens him, he softens her. It's poetry.
she was porbabbly happy to do it. she stuck with ryoko for a long time and everybody loved ryoko, NOBODY disliked her character. had this been tenchis VA itd have been boring, ayeaka, nobody would have watched. only ryokos or washus would have made people interested cause those were the only characters that were SO iconic
Well there is a good flowchart for canonicity. Universe and Mihoshi Special are together. The movies are with Universe. GXP is with the later seasons of the OVA, and by implication is with those earlier seasons. In turn GXP is with War on Geminar and Paradise War
Tenchi Muyo... I lean forward Ryoko starts talking... I'm on the edge of my seat Timeline is mentioned... My brain is currently out of order Wait wasn't Tenchi in Tokyo on Toonami! I remember watching that
I gotta give this channel props, I thought it nothing much past a rip off of Didyouknowgaming but you got an actual voice actor from the show you did a video on to talk about it. That's impressive.
To this day Tenchi Muyo is one of the few harem anime that don't make me cringe. How can Tenchi get it right while almost all of the series that followed in it's wake got it so wrong.
I think it's because Tenchi didn't set out to be a harem anime (it certainly wasn't Hayashi or Hasegawa's vision). To most people, including those involved in making it, Tenchi Muyo wasn't about Tenchi "getting" all the girls, it was about "who is he going to choose?" That's what fueled the rivalries and the drama, and in short what made us as viewers invest time in the characters and their relationships.
Same. Most harems in Anime use a lot of clichés in forced ways that make it grinding to watch, even if the source material was decent. However, most of the Tenchi franchise manages to keep things fun and fresh, at least in my eyes. Except Tenchi in Tokyo, I just can't stand it. Maybe it's how all the other characters seem to loose their personalities in it.
wwwwhhhhoooo THats the impression I always got. Heck in the first series it always seemed like it was mostly focused on the Ayeaka, Ryoko and Tenchi triangle with the other gals being mild distractions rather than serious romantic interests. I kind of assumed that they changed it as certain parts of the fanbase expressed more interest in certian possible pairings.
Ryoko's antics in the show along with her intereactions with Tenchi and the others along with the facial reactions and the comedy was what made this show gold! Not to mention Misaki and how she mistook Ryoko for Sasami! Ha, classic!
Dear Ryoko, how good it is to hear your voice again. Especially after loosing you for the third OVA. But on a more serious note I love Petrea Burchard, very awesome that she did this video. Although I was quite disappointed to hear the line "because there are no strong female personalities like that in real life" as one of the facts. Tenchi embodies strong female characters, a shame some of the people behind it thought like this.
I try to be fair and say that I think he was trying to say he wanted the characters to be imperfect rather than idealised and that there are no ideal female characters in real life. I'm just guessing, so I'd appreciate it if someone told me whether this is correct or not.
Omg, Ryoko is real!! I mean, this is awesome! I have to say Ryoko became my favorite Tenchi character thanks to Petrea’s amazing voice talent. I was head over heels for Ryoko so watching this video just made my day! ^_^
well sadly...or maybe not in this case I do not know japan...damn my sloth I should know Japanese by now and have gone:p well thank you for the insight
Love this. Tenchi is still top of my favorites list, and I've been Team Ryoko for over 20 years. Is there any word on dubbing the new 4th OVA, and can we please have Ms Burchard reprise her role? No one else can be the voice of Ryoko.
You were my favorite voice actress as Ryoko watching Tenchi Muyo was one of the shows that got me into anime and Ryoko was my number 1 favorite character and you did an excellent job voicing her. Thank you :)
Holy cow. They actually got THE Petrea Burchard to voice this episode? Man... that's pretty dope. I absolutely adored Ryoko in the Tenchi series... she definitely brought out her more devious, cunning and pretty flirtatious nature in the voice. Loved the series when I was a teen, still love it now. Ryoko and Washu were definitely the best characters of the series for me. ^^ God bless ya, Petrea!
Tenchi Muyo OVa was my first anime back in the 90a I could always firgure out what that is anywhere I'm 20 years will not forget that Tenchi Muyo was my first anime or maybe was it YuYuHakusho...
7 years this has been up and no one has ever pointed out that Hayashi never made such a comment about Ryoko being the one true waifu? Not that he really had much to say about it. He co-created a show and brought a structure to a collection of story ideas but Kajashima brought those core story ideas- something he'd been working on for over a decade prior, since his high school days. We all have had those ideas we've dreamed about getting made- imagine getting to make your dream story and the guy you got to help is given the credit instead?
Tenchi was the very first anime that snuck into my life. Seeing this brought back wave's of nostalgia and reminded me why i started watching anime as a kid. With the voice of Ryoko no less! Thank you for bringing me this. You people rock.
I feel like there is no such thing as canon with Tenchi Muyo. It's like every episode is it's now universe. RESET BUTTON Now they're in space. RESET BUTTON now she's a demon. RESET BUTTON now she's a science experiment. It's like Family Guy or South Park, something happened yet it also didn't happen
Petrea Burchard First of all i wish to thank you for your amazing work on Tenchi! your voice was and still is the only true Ryoko, i last watched the Tenchi series back in 2001/2 on Cartoon Network / Toonami here in the UK, and now all these years later as a 26 year old guy i have just started rewatching them again only to fall in love with Ryoko and your voice all over again haha. The young teen boy in me is very happy :") Thank you again for being a part of mine and many other peoples lives and bringing a truly awesome character to life for us! P.s in the last 13 odd years ive always named every female video game character ive created or played as "Ryoko" ;)
Man... I have to keep stopping the video since I am Freaking out about how AWESOME it is to hear her voice again. Petrea's voice has always been music to my ears.
Damn! Straight up THE Ryoko on this video?! That's amazing! Ryoko was always my most favourite character of any Tench Muyo series, the voice and presentation were always the most entertaining to me of any.
So much nostalgia. I can't believe it's been about 24 years since it's release. She was 36 when she was doing the voice over. I loved her voice and always day-dreamed about Ryoko and I ending up together.
The OVA was my gateway into anime back when it aired on toonami in the late 90s. It's still one of my favorite shows 20 years later. No matter how many versions come out, you're still the voice of Ryoko to me.
This video is amazing. Tenchi-Muyo is my favorite anime franchise of all time. I remember watching Tenchi-Muyo as a kid on Toonami. Though I remember details here and there about which episodes I saw parts of, I definitely remember the voice of Ryoko. It just left an impression on me as a little kid. Ryoko's voice always stuck out to me from the others. It didn't sound too young, but didn't sound too old either. Not to mention it had a wide variety of inflections and intonations. So I really felt it was highly dynamic and as such that it fit Ryoko nicely. But I think the real test of the performance is that it stuck with me. The things you carry with you tend to be things you find important one way or another. I suppose that means that on some level that performance was important to me, whether I understood it at the time or not. So I cherish the fact that there was something that remained important to me from my childhood onwards like this performance has. I just wish Ryoko had been voiced by Ms. Burchard in the last 7 episodes of Ryo-Ohki. I was quite surprised to hear another voice in that OVA. But ah well, it is what it is. Still, it's amazing that you guys got her to do this video with you guys :D! And if you read this Ms. Burchard, then I just want to say this: Thank you.
Wonder if she found the way Cartoon Network tried to pass off Ryoko's drinking by substituting "Sake" with "Tea" rather amusing? I remember being 14 and seeing the episode "Kagato Attacks" and noticing that
Tenchi was the very first harem type of anime I was introduced to and I loved it as a kid. Tenchi in Tokyo was my favorite spin-off of the series. The ending was so sad tho...
I haven't a chance to check comments here for a while, and wow! I should have saved it for a day when I was feeling down, because you all gave me such a lovely ego boost. Thank you for your comments. Thank you, thank you.

Petrea we always have your back. You gave us Ryoko and we love you for it. Hope all is well :D
Zacharie C
Thank you.
The fact that Ryoko voiced this is just perfect.
Yep I love that fact too I've always been team ryoko. She's just so fun and awesome.
@@Bellarose36The fact that even the writer was team ryoko says it all, she's best girl
Your comments are great! Thank you all so much.

+Darkstar263
ooooohhhh hearing that voice
Ryoko was always my favorite
ryoko and mihoshi
+Johnpaul Coffin I kinda always hated that in the Third OVA series it was replaced. It was one of many, many changes that did not sit well with fans.

Gotta say that getting the official voice of Ryoko is FREAKING EPIC.
Now, get David Kaye or Richard Ian Cox or someone to do Ranma or Inu Yasha...
Naw, I'd rather hear Sarah Strange do the Ranma one, If she'd be up for it, that is.
+Davethe3rd Dear lord for the inuyasha one i better hear him say Kagome's ame A THOUSAND TIMES
Don't forget Venus Terzo (female Ranma)!
Yeah, would much rather hear Sarah Strange. And now that I've "seen" Richard Ian Cox on TV, it's just too weird to hear him voice Ranma.
Petrea Burchard: one of the few people who can make an anime's English dub enjoyable.
Ryoko and tenchi were meant to be together all along.
EXACTLY!
+imyerpepper You're gonna be disappointed when you find out he marries all the girls.
Damn it!
+imyerpepper I've been waiting years to hear those words. Now, I can die in peace knowing it was concept-conan.
+imyerpepper I disagree - Tenchi's a weenie. Ryoko can do better - DESERVES better than him
polyamer tenchi XDDD
Ryoko is one of my favorite female characters! I like that you guys got Petrea Burchard to narrate this!
I fucking love Petrea Burchard. I would argue that her voice-work for Ryoko is what made Tenchi Muyo the hit that it was.
I heard the narrators voice, and I was like "OMG IT'S RYOKO!!!" So awesome! Thank you Petrea, we all know Tenchi and Ryoko end up together :-)
I would kill for Petrea to dub Ryoko again. Ryoko's character and Petrea's voice were the only reasons I even watched this anime.
Thank you Petrea for voicing Ryoko. Ryoko was my first waifu when I was younger. You made Ryoko sound compassionate, charming and cool. Ryoko was a strong independent character who was a badass. Thanks again Petrea. 😀😍
Whoa whoa whoa, you got an official VA to do an episode?! Massive epic Win!:D
and she hasn't changed one bitt.
Giordan Diodato Indeed.:D
Couldn't agree more.
I thought the same thing i was like haha no way!!
Petrea if you could redub OVA3 as Ryoko again that'd be greeeeeeaaaat.....
Ryoko was always my favorite and Petrea's incredible and dynamic voice acting really brought her to life. Discovering this after all these years was a real treat.

Oh my goodness I love you're voice! I haven't heard it since I was a little kid watching Toonami - over 10 years ago. I totally forgot about this show and how awesome your voice acting is.
Good luck in all!
DMBisAwesome Thank you!
I just found this. I fell in love with your voice in the 90s. Ryoko was one of my first loves and you built that. Thank you.
Ryoko provides the narration for this, that is awesome! :)
So cool, the voice for Ryoko did this! She was my favourite Tenshi Muyo character! O:
I had to pause after that burn about women not having strong personalities. Ouch man, ouch.
I did too, KrissLucia, and I believe I said something to the same effect, but they cut it!
Petrea Burchard Gotta love it. I think explains a lot about the series, really.

But man that comment makes the third ova make way more sense. Particularly how many of the female characters changed in personality.
The Gods of internet must love me. Stumbling on this jewel of a video with the original VA of Ryoko was lucky indeed.
OMG you actually got the real Ryoko to do the commentary for this? How wonderful. XD
Petrea Burchard for Best Ryoko!
Far as I'm concerned, she's the only Ryoko. Her voice has that perfect mix of maturity and roughness mixed with a playful undertone and just a hint of brat that so sums ups our favorite space pirate. Don't think she'd sound right voiced by anyone else (to me at least.) :)
steampunker7 Amen, my friend.
Best and only as far as I'm concerned! At least from the english side of things. Her voice acting has such great range. I wish she would have done more anime! :3
"see, me and Tenchi were meant to be together all along"
I knew it 🥹🥹😭😭
Holy moly! The production values for this series is astounding if you can get the legit voice actress from the show.
You got a professional voice actor? _This channel's going places_
I would love to fall asleep when Petrea Burchard reads me a fairy tail :3
_Such a soothing voice ~_
I love this idea. I might hold a contest or something.
Petrea Burchard
Oh wooow ~ \(^0^)/
Petrea Burchard Or even better. First prize is a voice mail recording!
Yay Petrea! I missed you in Tenchi Muyo Ryo Oki.
I almost cried for joy when I heard the Ryoko voice!
Oh my god the giant rush of nostalgia simply from hearing your voice again after so long was greatly appreciated.
I feel like if Kajishima spent a few years in the US he'd definitely have a different view about women like that supposedly not existing in real life.
wwwwhhhhoooo Ugh that's really disappointing :
It's good to hear your voice again. I grew up with Tenchi Muyo and Ryoko was always my favorite of the women.
So cool hearing Ryoko talk slightly in character. That's so awesome
Hearing Ryoko's voice brings back so many memories
Petrea will always be Ryoko to me. And Tenchi Muyo is among those 90s classic anime.
Super cool that you got Petrea for this, I was super bummed when she wasn't in the 3rd OVA, was a big reason I never finished it.
It's so cool how the voice did this! I am such a Ryoko fan!
I'm happy to hear her voice again also happy to own one of the animated cels of ryoko ^^
Why can't more anime be like this these days...
i ask myself that every day...
Apparently work has started on a 4th OVA.
yay
Matthew Smith sweet... i just have to wait forever (sorry but even tenchi muyo content nowadays seem to taake forever)
I know, but on the bright side, it's not dead yet :D
i had a fanboy moment when Petrea started talking....
To me, Ryoko and Tenchi will always be meant for each other.
completely agree with this statement. even in the mangas it always leans towards ryoko and tenchi.
Once tenchi commits to someone kajishima would lose the compitiin element of thecseries that he seems to think is the only draw
Sucjs either way.
This was amazing ! and Tenchi Muyo is one of my favourite animes of all time.
Wow this was pretty cool. Great to hear Petrea again. :D
HOW did you guys manage to get the Legendary Petrea Burchard!!!??
she was porbabbly happy to do it. she stuck with ryoko for a long time and everybody loved ryoko, NOBODY disliked her character. had this been tenchis VA itd have been boring, ayeaka, nobody would have watched. only ryokos or washus would have made people interested cause those were the only characters that were SO iconic
Honestly I LOVE when voice actor's can reprise there roles. It shows not only love for what they do but love to the fans.
Well there is a good flowchart for canonicity. Universe and Mihoshi Special are together. The movies are with Universe. GXP is with the later seasons of the OVA, and by implication is with those earlier seasons. In turn GXP is with War on Geminar and Paradise War
it's petrea burchard!! i was only 11 when tenchi muyo started on toonami. huge crush on ryoko, haha.
Tenchi Muyo... I lean forward
Ryoko starts talking... I'm on the edge of my seat
Timeline is mentioned... My brain is currently out of order
Wait wasn't Tenchi in Tokyo on Toonami! I remember watching that
Hory Curap! They got Ryoko's voice actress to do an episode!?! Freakin' Rad!
Its nice hearing Ryoko's voice again.
I gotta give this channel props, I thought it nothing much past a rip off of Didyouknowgaming but you got an actual voice actor from the show you did a video on to talk about it. That's impressive.
i was already in at tenchi muyo. The voice of Ryoko cranks this up to 37.
More like cranked up to lim x→0 f(x) = 1/x!
(infinity)
I agree with ya. Most harem anime make me scoff, but Tenchi - while it still has its head shaking moments - holds a dear place in my heart.
wwwwhhhhoooo
THats the impression I always got.
***** There are some Harem manga I enjoy, but their anime adaptations didn't do them justice. Which sucks.
Ryoko's antics in the show along with her intereactions with Tenchi and the others along with the facial reactions and the comedy was what made this show gold! Not to mention Misaki and how she mistook Ryoko for Sasami! Ha, classic!
Kevin Frontz That's one of my favorites.
Petrea Burchard IS A LEGEND! TENCHI & RYOKO FOREVER
"because there are no strong female characters like that in real life"
wow okay maybe not YOUR life and i think i can guess why now
right?! what an male otaku thing to say!
I try to be fair and say that I think he was trying to say he wanted the characters to be imperfect rather than idealised and that there are no ideal female characters in real life. I'm just guessing, so I'd appreciate it if someone told me whether this is correct or not.
I grew up watching this show! I love it so much 😊
Omg, Ryoko is real!! I mean, this is awesome! I have to say Ryoko became my favorite Tenchi character thanks to Petrea’s amazing voice talent. I was head over heels for Ryoko so watching this video just made my day! ^_^
Thats really awesome that you got her to voice over this video! She seems like a nice person :)
Yo, that's cool that you got the VA for Ryoko to do this.
"there are no strong female personalities in real life"...wow...that guy's sexist as hell. O.o
+Kami Nana That cut deep and I'm not even a girl
+Kami Nana like that*
+Kami Nana my sister would pummel him if she watched this...given the time and money I suppose
+Kami Nana That was thought...at the time...in Japan.
well sadly...or maybe not in this case I do not know japan...damn my sloth I should know Japanese by now and have gone:p well thank you for the insight
Love this. Tenchi is still top of my favorites list, and I've been Team Ryoko for over 20 years. Is there any word on dubbing the new 4th OVA, and can we please have Ms Burchard reprise her role? No one else can be the voice of Ryoko.
Yeahhh! Love her voice, one of my favorite actresses ever. Very informative episode!
Great to hear Petrea again :D Tenchi and Ryoko all the way!
This was amazing I love Ryoko !
Tenchi Muyo OVa was my first anime back in the 90a I could always firgure out what that is anywhere I'm 20 years will not forget that Tenchi Muyo was my first anime
or maybe was it YuYuHakusho...
Love Patreas voice, has a major crush on Ryoko like most of you here haha
Tenchi was the very first anime that snuck into my life. Seeing this brought back wave's of nostalgia and reminded me why i started watching anime as a kid. With the voice of Ryoko no less! Thank you for bringing me this. You people rock.
OH MY GOD AN ACTUAL VOICE ACTRESS!!!!
Well damn. Hearing Petrea's voice and all the talk of Tenchi.. now I have to rewatch the OVA again. NOSTALGIA AWAY!
I hate dubs, but I loved Petrea's Ryoko! Great voice!
Loved this! Thanks for helping make this Petrea
Your work as ryoko was astounding!! You and your character made my childhood!! Thank you! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I definitely marked out when I heard Ryoko's voice. Ryoko is one of my favorite characters in anime.
I think it's awesome that you guys managed to get the voice actress for Ryoko! I grew up with that show and that took me back. Time to rewatch it all!
You're one of my first anime crushes...
I could listen to her read the telephone book. Not gonna lie.
Oh my God... I love you, Petrea! You are the best Ryouko!
They need to bring her back for to redub Ryoko's voice OVA 3 of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki and to continue on with OVA 4. #PetraBurchardisBestRyoko
Man... I have to keep stopping the video since I am Freaking out about how AWESOME it is to hear her voice again. Petrea's voice has always been music to my ears.
Damn! Straight up THE Ryoko on this video?! That's amazing! Ryoko was always my most favourite character of any Tench Muyo series, the voice and presentation were always the most entertaining to me of any.
it was really nice hearing your voice again, :D it brought back alot of found memories
So much nostalgia. I can't believe it's been about 24 years since it's release. She was 36 when she was doing the voice over. I loved her voice and always day-dreamed about Ryoko and I ending up together.
Tenchi muyo was a big part of my childhood. Ryoko was favorite character :)
Oh wow! It's so cool that you guys got Patrea Burchard to do this. Ryoko was always my favorite character.
I remember being 14 and seeing the episode "Kagato Attacks" and noticing that
Altrunchen My pleasure, Altrunchen. I love the TenchiForum guys. All the Tenchi fans have been really good to me!
James Baggett I remember that!
Petrea Burchard
Hmm, I may just join that forum. Thanks for replying! :3
James Baggett
They did that? Huh, I never saw that in any of the dubs I watched...then again maybe I just missed it.
Now do Did You Know Cowboy Bebop with Steve Blum
He would probably be easy to get to! Thgh it would be cool if he did Shamploo too
YES ! Ryoko is reading this...So much win ! :D
This video should have more views petrea made my child hood x10 times better, her voice was so comforting and fit ryoko perfically.
Tenchi was the very first harem type of anime I was introduced to and I loved it as a kid. Tenchi in Tokyo was my favorite spin-off of the series. The ending was so sad tho...
