Some questions about Monarch: 1. Since Monarch was founded by people who worked at Mint, will they make the same mistakes with Monarch in how they let Intuit purchase Mint? 2. Mint had connectivity issues with Fidelity. Will Monarch have connection issues with Fidelity too? Also, what are your thoughts on the Fidelity Full View app? And are there any "legacy" banking/investing/financial service alternatives to Mint instead of only the services that are either startups or have been around for only a decade?

If a company gives something away for free, they eventually have to find a way to make money from that product or service. For example, the videos you watch here are free. But they cost money to make. To recoup those costs, we hope that we make money from the ads you watch beforehand or if you decide to use our affiliate links from these budget apps.

I agree, however it can help save money in the long run since the way we budget and manage our money is what makes the biggest difference - more than the amount we make even, to a certain extent. It can save a lot of people from their finances being a hot mess and forgetting to pay bills or accidentally overdrawing their bank account and getting hit with late fees and overdraft fees. I used to have a simple system with balancing a checkbook and wrote all the bills due (along with due dates, amounts, dates paid, etc.) all in columns I made. It was easy and effective. Now keeping track is harder due to more monthly subscriptions for things like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, phone add-ons, BUDGETING APPS lol, etc. All that + having ADHD = 🤯😵💫😖😩 I need something with organization or my finances and bills are all jumbled up and a total hot mess.
With a family of four, we have a lot of transactions each month. Manually syncing them wouldn't be worth my time for $9/month. To each their own! Other free options to consider would be Empower as well. They have a free budget planner and other excellent tools -- the budget planner isn't as good as these other ones, but worth checking out if free is important to you right now. Here's an overview: ua-cam.com/video/6f_-v-4xRqU/v-deo.htmlsi=k504dvZCQZpCAGlf

I know this is old but also interested if you’ve found something? I’m using PocketSmith and I honestly love the features and it honors your budget periods by category. I have some categories on weekly payments, some biweekly, others monthly when I view my budget it shows each categories progress within that budget period. A bit of a steep learning curve. Biggest downside for me is the app. Web version is packed full of features i love but the app has very limited functionality

@tl4369 the requirement is when you travelling to another country and you need to enter your expense in the visiting country currency. I couldn't find an app to enter 2 currency expenses
@ Gocha. if the expenses occur through your bank card or credit card, and you can sync those transaction to the money app, would it solve your problem?
@tl4369 but what about manual currency transactions?
What happened with Mint?
Shutting down in the next month and transitioning into Credit Karma product. Unfortunately, it won't be the same as it was.
Any free apps ?
Empower is free but not as good as the others -- here's our review: ua-cam.com/video/6f_-v-4xRqU/v-deo.htmlsi=oRNGBJ-r5FlEJ4kL
What about rocket money?
He said he had a top 10 list somewhere and it was ranked 8 out of 10
Nice T-shirt
Thanks! My wife got it for me at TJ Maxx for like $15. She's awesome.
What a shame copilot is not available for android.
Hopefully an area for them to improve on in the future
YNAB that's just stupid to price yourself out of the market and then require such a big learning curve. How is that number 2 on the list?
YNAB is number 2 because of its legion of fans and it's stability in the fintech app marketplace.
The price could come down a bit but definitely worth it.
So pretty much, if you want something close to mint you will need to pay! R.I.P Mint 😢
There are some free options out there like Empower but their budgeting option isn't as good in our opinion -- You can learn more about Empower here: ua-cam.com/video/6f_-v-4xRqU/v-deo.htmlsi=Nfvj9r_57ii6fIPf
Co pilot looks great, BUT it's for Apple only? Doh! just lost half your market!!! Darn that really looks like the #1 on the list.
Are you sponsored by Monarch?
Monarch has sponsored other videos of ours in the past, but not this video.
They are an affiliate of mine. If you use my affiliate link then I get paid a small commission (like $10) for every signup.
Outside of how we make money as a channel, my wife and I also use Monarch as our money management tool of choice after Mint went away.
I hope that helps!
Searching for free app that will show monthly net income over time like mint did 😢
I hear ya!
Some completely free ones (that aren't as good as Mint was):
- Empower
- EveryDollar (Free version - no manual synching)
I don't like vocal fryers
I appreciate the information, but the presentation was cloyingly sweet. Please remember we are adults, not 4 year olds..
Too sweet? Could you be more specific?
I'm always looking to improve!
You couldn’t find a single “free” option to recommend 🧐🚩🚩🚩🚩
I'm sorry this video didn't do it for you!
EveryDollar has a free option, but they don't do automatic import of transactions.
Empower is completely free but the budget app is subpar compared to the options mentioned in our video. That being said, their investment tools are top-notch (and free) - just be aware that you will receive a sales call for their investment services once you reach a $100k net worth.
Here's more detail on their free tools: ua-cam.com/video/6f_-v-4xRqU/v-deo.htmlsi=DCComsN76eotX3Xd
I'm currently working on a video that shares "free budget options" even though all of them are not as good as the ones on this list.
Do you have a bestb5 "free" apps video?
Working on one currently!
I aint paying to try and track my bills. Thats just an extra bill i dont need.
I hear ya! Try EveryDollar's free version. Unfortunately, it doesn't automatically sync transactions.
Or you could use Empower for free as well... their budgeting solution is just not as good as these ones mentioned in the video.

Mint was great. Credit Karma is garbage.
It's so sad to see. They really messed up a great thing.
Paying budget app to save money. Hmmm..
I hear ya!
If free is more important than features and benefits, I'd check out Empower and their free financial tools -- ua-cam.com/video/6f_-v-4xRqU/v-deo.htmlsi=TQCppF_GCdy3w5jz

** host whines ** Syncing your transactions not available in the Free version of Every Dollar. while exciting saying all other Apps cost XXX dollars
Monarch Money does not support RBC!!
Thank you for that tip!
Yes, they recently started supporting Canadian customers so maybe this will be a bank they support in the future.

ha! The truth. I'll pay $10 per month to save myself hours and hours of my time manually adding transactions. Automation rocks

All app are safe for privacy 🔏????
YNAB is.
I love that the apps feed my transactions so I don’t have to manual enter. My issue with the apps I’ve tried is the budgeting. I budget bi-weekly based on our pay cycles. My spending and food budget re-sets bi-weekly. Most of these apps force the monthly budget which throws me off and it doesn’t allow editing of the budget cycle. Any app that you would recommend?
I had the same issue when looking for a budget app, I was using Isavemoney but they put adds on the basic version now and it gets annoying
