Which do you recommend? My metrics: Use on a PC. I hate the tunnel vision of a cell phone. Is not web based, needs to be independent of internet. Does not link accounts, easier to check and balance when manually enter. Don’t want to rent software. I want a onetime purchase and done.
I'm looking for a smartphone app that I can check bank and portfolio transactions, and net worth that includes property, all on one page. I don't want a budget, saving goals, spending alerts, categories, credit score or any other 'helpful' tools thank you. Mint was perfect for this. Any ideas for a low cost alternative?
Empower is at least most of those things and is free whereas most others cost $50-$100 per year so there's no monetary cost to try it. Edit: just re-read and I see you want a smartphone app, so it may not be what you want.
Any of these work for Canadian banks? Mint was the only one that covered majority of Canadian banks for the account sync feature. Tiller I’ve used in the past but it’s not user friendly at all.
@roadmapmoney yes, but most banks allow you to link/integrate those into their software. For instance my bank uses intuit and I can link my CC, Roth IRA, brokerage, 401k, car loan, student loan, etc to it.
@roadmapmoney yes. I can also see my net worth. It's a local bank from Oklahoma so I'm surprised if this isn't a standard feature. I would like to see more software that works for those on salary+commission income like myself. I can calculate the average from the past 6 months but would be good to see that and year over year trend such as comparing November of 2023 to November of 2022.
@jaredbills72 that's pretty cool! Yeah. Monarch is what I'm using jow and they have MoM and YoY comparisons, which is really nice. But cool to know banks are ramping up these features too
I was using Mint for the longest time. I'm switching to Monarch right now, it's probably the closest in functionality to Mint, but a lot cleaner. Currently $50/year with the code MINT50 otherwise it's like $99/year. Well worth it if you want to keep on top of your spending and goals.
Haven't tried it, but based on reviews it's not quite comprehensive enough for me, and not ideal for how I manage my monthly budget. But others I know like it a lot, so you might just need to try it out first to see if you like it.
Empower has great investment reports and decent spending reports, Monarch just paunched more in-depth reports, and YNAB has good reports as well. But Mint honestly had the best reporting, and others are still catching up.
I've heard good things, but haven't tried it myself. From what I've seen it looks a bit TOO simple for my needs, but haven't given it a fair shake just yet.
does any one have a trends section like mint customizable to any the date for all spending, tags net worth income who ever gets there first gets my money

Swapping to Credit Karma suuuuuucks. I like all the charts and interface better at Mint.
So empower is the only free one AND its only available in the US for any Canadian people looking to switch.
Looking for Mint alternative. Thank you for these tips!

Empower does this, you are correct. And it has a Smartphone app as well!
The point of mint was that it was automated.
And many of these are automated, including Empower, which is a free app.
Empower you can’t actually create a budget in though, it just tracks spending.
Pocketguard looks similar to mint to me.

Monarch just launched Canadian Bank support!
Does Monarch or Tiller (or any other) have functionality for sinking funds where unused budget money rolls over to next month?
Monarch does allow rollover for a budget category, yes. I'll be doing a deep dive on Monarch Money soon. Stay tuned!
Most bank accounts and credit cards come with some type of budgeting software in it. Are these apps really necessary?
But if you have multiple accounts, credit cards, and investments accounts, it's nice to see them all in one place.
@roadmapmoney yes, but most banks allow you to link/integrate those into their software. For instance my bank uses intuit and I can link my CC, Roth IRA, brokerage, 401k, car loan, student loan, etc to it.
@jaredbills72 that's great! haven't seen that with my credit union. Do they let you set goals, review trends, etc?

Super helpful breakdown!
What do you use

@roadmapmoney do you know if Monarch is available in Canada?
Paying a fee sounds ridiculous.
Which ones allow you to transfer your Mint data history into the app or desktop version?
I know Monarch does, not 100% sure on the other apps.
How do you feel about quicken simplifi?
Haven't tried it, but based on reviews it's not quite comprehensive enough for me, and not ideal for how I manage my monthly budget. But others I know like it a lot, so you might just need to try it out first to see if you like it.
That Monarch uses Plaid is a disappointment. Plaid doesn't work at all with Fidelity.
Really? I was able to link my fidelity with monarch, but not with rocket money.
actually a good synopsis! Thank you!
Do any of these have good reports?
Empower has great investment reports and decent spending reports, Monarch just paunched more in-depth reports, and YNAB has good reports as well. But Mint honestly had the best reporting, and others are still catching up.
What about Simplifi?

Great Video!
Canada?
Monarch Money support Canada 🇨🇦 🙌 👌

Not exactly the same, and that's the part I will miss about Mint the most. Rocket Money comes close.
Has anybody heard of Fina?
Well fuck that
fly
Sorry but trying hard to replace mint and claiming to be the best alternative while having fewer features and 100$ more? Thats asinine.
