May I ask what color you got and the interior too? The LC500 is my dream car. I want a blue one with white interior and the blue steering wheel and console in the coupe.
Beneath the surface the LC500 has a chassis with a higher torsional rigidity than their LFA supercar. With the "performance pack" rear wheel steer set-up this car can offer pin point precision as a true sports car. Don't be fooled by the Lexus badge and the priority for comfort. When driven fast this car is truly quick and even possibly faster than modern hot hatches. On the limit it is incredible. Then dial it back into comfort mode and yes, then you have a GT car. But please don't be mistaken, in my opinion this is a "luxury sports car" and well truly capable with modern sports car credentials. Well done to Lexus for this masterpiece, an absolute gem!
@@GearboxCarReviews Also a second cup-holder located near the passenger seat is needed. Fold-down rear seats too. Optional massage seats! Lexus must not listen to customer feedback or investigate other GT models which contain these features.Oh BTW, for all of those who eschew run-flat tires and prefer other types, since the LC 500 does not have a spare tire, run-flat tires are something that you do not want to be without on a road trip.
Almost impossible to have in Europe / Netherlands. Will set you back more than €200k / $220k I love the looks, and the reviews a loving. Not looking for a 911 alternative. A want a power cruiser with high quality. Maybe I need to relocate to the US :) THX for the review!
Thanks for watching! And for the comment! It really is excellent as a power cruiser. That's where this thing shines. Sorry to hear it's so far out of reach where you are :( That's frustrating that it's so expensive.
Great video, as an owner my word of warning to any potential buyer is check the front wings. They are made from aluminium and they corrode really badly, bubbling up and ruining the paint.
@@edmundcharles5278 yeah its oxidisation that is occurring on the LC's. I have seen 3 this week with the same issue as mine. The paint bubbles up and Lexus wont do anything until there is a visible hole in the body work.
@@davidkeenan5989 My thoughts exactly, I never had this issue with my 2004 SC 430 but my 2018 LC 500 has corrosion. Either badly made or purely executed - which is a shame for a flagship model
Thank you! Yes, the audio is something I'm working on. I thought I had it sorted, then I ran into more issues on this one. I'm very frustrated with how the audio came out, but hopefully it didn't detract too much from the review.
I like you review but please don't pass over small put important detail information. There is also two more cup holder right in front of where armrest slides back.
Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure I follow though. There's just the one cupholder as far as I can tell. When you pull back the armrest there's just the little rubberized area that's squared off and shallow.
Ah ok. It seemed too shallow and a bit in the way, and I believe the manual states that it's not for cups. I could see there being an accessory for it though. This one didn't have any kind of accessory.
Toyotas original plan was to make a scaled down version of this to be a Supra. But teaming up with BMW was a cheaper alternative so they went that way.
I know there was speculation, but was there anything from Toyota about it? That would've been a much different car. I'm kind of glad they went the way they did.
@@toddgersh yeah, that's fair. I feel the same. If the rumors of an mr2 or a celica are true, maybe we'll still see an in-house sports car from Toyota. 🤞
Yeah, it's one of those form over function things. Those tend to bug me as well. They probably figure most people are using them as fair-weather cars anyway, but definitely could be a pain if you're not.
@@GearboxCarReviews By the way, I have subscribed because I like the format of your review - i.e. the focus is the car, rather than you. Too many channels are going down the same route as Top Gear, thinking that trying to be funny and be a 'personality' is what it's all about - it's not. Car people want to hear about cars, without the comedy. Keep up the good work, man.
Thanks! Yeah, I think that style has a higher ceiling and more potential to reach a wider audience, unfortunately. People will tune in for the person, even if there's a car they care less about. I fear that potential buyers and the die-hards that want to learn everything about all the cars are a much smaller audience, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong. I'll certainly keep at it for as long as I can keep getting cars. Appreciate it! 🙌
@@GearboxCarReviews You're right, but in terms of longevity, the quirky personality can soon become tiresome and annoying, whereas straight, solid reviews are more likely to have staying power. The viewing public can be fickle. Cheers. 👍
This car is absolutely pointless with the V8 engine, because it’s not like it’s a fast car. All the V8 will do is consume too much fuel compared to the hybrid model. And the sound is just that, sound. The hybrid is the best version.
I see where you're coming from, but to me it's an emotional purchase and the auditory pleasure and the way a naturally-aspirated engine makes power are huge parts of the decision. I'd argue that if you want speed and comfort and efficiency, then an EV would fit the bill best, but I'm glad there are options out there for sure, so people that do care about the sound can get the V8 and people that don't can get the more efficient one.
I think you have to be a Toyota Lexus have to be looking at this car. You want that legendary reliability.... For me this car doesn't do anything special. AG's at this price range.. You either of you shouldn't pony up another$40k For a 911 Carrera for a funny car... Something with personally
I went into it thinking I'd feel that way too. I thought great looks, great sound, reliability, but I'll probably be bored. But I came away really enjoying it. If you want a true grand tourer that can just get in and drive, daily drive or road trip or whatever, it's just easy, it's comfortable, it handles well enough for what it is, and it really does sound great and it's great to look at. And in an age of turbos, it's always nice to have an NA V8. Plus the German competition is much pricier. I really think there's a market here beyond the Toyota/Lexus die-hards.
I think it's easier to use and I like the wireless connectivity, but I agree that it doesn't look great. I wish you could hide the screen or something.
Been owning this car for 2 years, absolutely love it.
Awesome! Congrats! Always love to hear when people love their cars!

A niche to place/ store your smartphone and a roof sunglasses holder would be great additions!

Aluminum is a non-Ferris metal that does not form an iron oxide rust although it does oxidize with other materials!
Bit surprised as they should paint it properly

My LC is blue, white and orange.
That car is a beaut. Imagine a 6mt in it
It sucks cuz most of the people that know how great this is can’t afford it and most that can afford it don’t buy it.
Yeah, it's unfortunate. There are so many cars I'd love to own if I could afford them. But it's also great that there are still options out there.
Is the limited-slip differential only on the Inspiration?
You can add it as an option on the regular, non-inspiration LC.

Six litre! Was it bored out? 😀 What's the Horsepower now?
Did I call it a six liter somewhere? Big whoops if I did 😳. Maybe six cylinder when referring to the hybrid? I can't find where that is in the video.
Is that red
What color is the car exactly
It's called Copper Crest, but it looks almost like a rose gold in person
Is the rear view mirror electronics?
You mean like a digital one with a camera feed? This one did not have that. I don't believe it's an option on the LC.
BMW M8!
Solid competitor! Bit of a different driving experience and a bit more expensive, but certainly a lot of fun!
