Thanks for checking out the video and commenting! There’s a few elements that I think are missing from the WA47 but it’s a workable mic in my opinion. I’ve built a chain around it that’s yielded solid results.
Nice, are you comparing it to WA47Jr or WA47 tube? I finally bought the WA47Jr and it sounds nice. Carl I need presets for male live voice recording, don't you have one please?
Thanks for checking out the video and stopping by the Channel. The mics I’m comparing are listed on the lower thirds of the video/graphics on the screen. As for the presets, I cant say that I have any but each voice is different sonically. You can send me a sample of one of your recordings and I can give you my suggestions for your voice
Great job on the video and congrats on mic. For me, the Stam shines over the others for what a 47 is supposed to sound like. Only the Stam had the thick low mids, its top end was the least sibilant, and had the tube-mic sheen. And it sounded the most finished, immediately. You have a great R&B vocal tone so depending on the song I would probably aim for a more open, clearer sound like a C12 or C-800 sound when the 47 is too thick and wooly.
Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. I definitely informed Stam that the low mids are what did it for me. I think he definitely has figured out a sonic signature that really does give a 47 vibe. I eluded to it in this video but I’m working on a session where I compare a vintage u47 to these mics and I think anyone would get their money’s worth with an SA47 mkii. Again thanks for interacting with the channel. It helps in the long run! Just out of curiosity, have you checked out my c800g clone vs emulation videos in the series?
Hey Carl , I’m going to be receiving my first Stam audio product soon I was just wondering if you can give some feedback on and how is the build quality on your Stam mic ? High quality parts and high quality feel too it ?
That’s dope news to hear! In my opinion, the quality matches the price point. The power supply is pretty large and hefty compared to others I have. One thing I thought was a nice touch is the threaded connector on the mic to power supply cable. Again, I have other tube mics that cost more than the SA47mkii and they don’t have a feature like this. The shockmount is sturdy. After sometime in a session, I typically have to retighten a shockmount for myself or a client. Had experienced that yet and I actually had the mic for about a month before I posted anything on the series. Overall, you can tell a methodical nature was applied to the build quality of this mic and I’m sure that extends to the other products Stam Audio offers
Stam Audio is out of Chile. It’s a beyond REASONABLY priced u47 clone and the build quality is solid. The mic is built to order is they’ll be a delay on shipping but you won’t be disappointed when you get it
Thank you for the kind words, checking out the video and stopping by the channel! I’ve had a chance to use one of their mics and I’ve been informed that they have a 251 style mic. I definitely wouldn’t mind checking it out for sure.
Man how you get a Stam mic? I heard it takes like 3 years to receive Stam gear haha jk. Great vid as always man! I don't hear about Stam mics too often so it's great you got one on your channel. It sounds great!
Man, Stam has figured out what was necessary to improve the customer service experience. My interactions with him have been SOLID! But I’ve always wanted to add his stuff to my locker. This SA47 mkii has made a comfortable place in my locker. Thanks for supporting as usual man!
If in stock it takes about 5 days for delivery, for pre-orders we have a 3-6 month lead time depending on the model. We hope we can have permanent stock soon as well. Thanks for commenting!!
@@joshuastam7704 Thank you very much for the information. I have always been interested in your company's gear since seeing your pultec style EQs a few years ago tho sadly discontinued at that time. I am eyeing the SA-76A-5 right now (I may be preordering here soon) and the SA800G!
@@itsOHEAD I didn't pre-order that mic but I did pre-order the SA-76A-5, their brand new blue stripe 1176 in 500 series. If you are interested, be on a lookout for those videos! I plan on doing a whole series about it. It has really caught me eye.
I feel like it’s more than usable. It gets a bad wrap from many, but I believe it’s very possible to get good sounding tones from the wa47. Are there things about the stock version I don’t like, sure, but that doesn’t take away from its ability to be useful tool. Thanks for checking out the video, commenting and stopping by the channel.
For you...SA 47. It catches your voice the most clear and WA collected more info but..straight out SA before WA with you. But...that said....tweaking the WA 47...could possibly give you more of the original 47. Great test 👍🏻 Producer Michael db Sweden
I would get a great rack preamp a rupert neve portico it's 3 to 5 db of headroom..Makes for a fuller vocal in the mids I have the stam mk2 paired with a rupert neve shelford AND BOI!!!
If I had the choice the Stam is the better mic. It is made with higher quality parts, the sound capture is balanced much better and its longevity is probably much better too. The Wa47 is a budget mic. It's more selling itself on its looks than performance. It's built with much cheaper parts, has a higher failure rate, has been known to have poor quality psu and cradle. There are much better quality mics at the same price point as the Wa47 that achieve the same results as the wa47. Austrian audio oc 18 is a great sounding mic, 3u audio make a cheaper mic that is cheaper because he cuts out the middle man, often overlooked but is a solid build mic with great sound. It's not your bog standard Chinese mic either, he only sources the best parts for his mics. Many more I could list. Wa47 just tends to have a wooly base sound with darker mids, nothing special in my opinion. It's an OK mic for the budget but nothing like what it's looks claim to be. Stam is much better, or even a GA47 which is another great mic along the u47 style, way better than Wa47 but obviously far more money. At the end of the day Stam would be my choice, but with a lower budget I would not choose the Warm audio, but a better mic in the same ball park.
WA felt like a hug to me when I heard it. But I think as I watch more of these I like hearing the body of the vocal/mic. Great stuff
