    Beautiful ride. I’ve got a 2007 in Black Pearl and am well pleased. Gosh, those road snakes were giving me the iggs!

    Mike - Proper riding gear on a Harley LOL - I never, ever see that - and I'm not kidding. Flip flops, shorts, Tee shirt, and no helmet are the "HD Rules" in Phoenix, AZ brother. If I still have it - I'll post a "short" video. That all said, now then - are you still considering the Gold Wing as well ???
    Cheers Mate - Looks like you had fun !!!

      Hey Dane, I am still considering the Goldwing. It makes a lot of sense on paper. A BMW GSA makes even more sense on paper. A cruiser is pretty irrational, but it was fun and much different than anything I'm used to. I like all motorcycles and want to ride them all!

    Glad you got a chance to try out something different. I think you have too much protective gear on for a HD. Most of the riders here look like they crawled off the couch donned a helmet and went riding.
    Cheers!

      You might be right DOC. I went into my local dealer yesterday and couldn't even get anyone to acknowledge or speak to me. I left pissed off. My neighbor who owns this bike even said it's because I don't look the part. Apparently our local dealer is shit. My friend's dad is VP of the local HOG chapter and they split from the dealership because it was so bad. I understand there's a culture associated with HD but I had hoped it was welcoming and not exclusive. Hoping that experience is only reflective of this particular dealership.
      Good to hear from you and hope life is treating you well.

      @@chasingtrail Hey Brother! Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate it. Now, having said that - the rest of this reply is in no way me being negative to you or family, friends etc. WARNING, Rant about to Commence!!! I am not surprised by the local HD dealership ignoring you due to "not looking the part". WTF is that? Are they there to sell motorcycles or judge people's cool factor when walking into their dealership. Stupid me, I thought being a motorcycle rider was about going out and buying/riding motorcycles? A lot of HD riders think they bought into status or a lifestyle. Bad news for them, they bought a FUCKEN Motorcycle! Guys like you (and I hope me and Dane) should be the ones they are going after, not the cultists who need a status symbol due to their lack of self-esteem. Other than the Pan American, I believe HD are restricted to mostly on road and the other half of riding (dirt and trails) is neglected. There is a reason Adventure/ Dual Sport bikes are flying out of the dealerships. People are figuring out there is more out there than riding while perpetually posing on their bike and seeing who looks at them. Dane (OBI- WAN) and I have this conversation all the time (probably tonight also LOL). Sorry for the long rant/ post but the way the Halfass Dudison dealershit treated you struck a nerve with me LOL. You are probable too thin to buy a HD and are smart enough to ride with the appropriate gear! 😂Appreciate your channel Bro and ride on!
      Cheers!

      @@doc650adventures I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I don't have any particular brand loyalty. I see the same stuff with Apple products. I just like motorcycles. I enjoyed my neighbors Harley enough to pique my interest and consider one for a long distance touring bike, particularly because of their robust dealer network if I'm riding out of state. I don't expect to have the red carpet rolled out or anything but just a modicum of basic customer service would have gone a long way.
      After I got home I emailed the next closest dealer which is a little over an hour away and they called me with 15 minutes, offered a reasonable price, and scheduled a time for me to come down and test ride a bike. Time and time again my friends and I end up taking our business out of town despite giving our local dealers the opportunity. It's a shame.

      @@chasingtrail Sounds like a solution to a requirement for a cruiser. Sorry about the long rant. I live in HD country (next to Ft. Bragg, NC) and I see the things you mentioned in your reply. I also go out of my way to buy at the local dealership. It is rather nice have some good folks close if you need them. At least the out of town dealer was responsive. Please keep us posted!
      Cheers!

    After watching your other HD test rides going sideways, have you considered offering to buy this dude's bike? Seems like you liked it alot more than the others.

    • @chasingtrail
      @chasingtrail  2 роки тому

      Well, the problem is, I like every motorcycle I ride. I liked the Harleys I test rode a lot, it's just hard to stomach spending $35k on a motorcycle. This particular bike doesn't have a good enough lean angle for the way I like to ride.

    Mike, I have to admit that the Heritage is hands down my fave HD...... But the price tag and up keep is just too dang much,.... So I went Yamaha. My old Virago I customized over the years to look like the Heritage you rode in this Vid, but I also had the low-rise sissy bar and the passenger pad rear-carrier on it as well. Ramp forward a few years, I gave the bike to my Sis and bought a Stock Blacked-out Bolt.... Except this time I put a black Mohawk window on it, no sissy pad yet, or rear carrier. So it's 98% all Black as is. I call her Raven.
    Lean angle on the bolt ?? .. Heck ya, 38 degrees at 30+mph and no peg scraping ..... but then you probably have 80 pounds on me too ... lol. Bolt is 547 lbs wet, 27 inch unladen seat height, mid controls / yada yada yada.... But my complaint is the rear-shock only has a 1.5" stroke,... so yeah, those speed bumps you went over at 25 mph.... I would have stood up on the pegs to take those and save my spine.
    Stay Safe.

    • @chasingtrail
      @chasingtrail  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Wes! 38 degree lean angle would be awesome.

    You didn't sell the Beta tho? 😱 😂 Jokes aside, go test ride a 2018 and up a Softail next. I promise, you will LOVE it if you enjoyed this. Huge step up. No cooked crotch at stop lights, much better chassis and suspension, brakes and power.

      Not yet lol! I'm planning to test ride a Low Rider ST this weekend, just not sure it's going to be large enough for me. Also want to look at an Indian Challenger but the nearest dealer is 3 hours away.

      @@chasingtrail LOL, you're not wasting any time. Make sure you aren't going to be disappointed with the sound of the Milwaukee 8 over the Twin Cam you just rode. No current Harley will sound as good but the better ride is worth it IMO. With an exhaust, the new bikes sound good enough. I'm not into mag wheels or Purple Rain farings but I like what they did with the Lowriders in the past few years. Look forward to that video. Just don't sell the Beta!!!

      @@getdealtwithquick Thanks for the feedback. I have a lot to learn about cruisers. That's probably a big driver for me right now, I love learning new things and cruisers are a whole new world for me. The Beta's not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. It's too hot to ride it right now, but I'm looking forward to riding it more when the weather cools off. We're forecasted to be in triple digit heat every day for the next 30 days. Going to be 112 tomorrow.

      @@chasingtrail 110+ is way beyond my pain point for riding anything but an air conditioned cage but cruisers are awesome. Have had one for 4 years, rode it to Vegas once and used to commute on it before Covid. Got into dual sport riding afterwards and that is hands down more engaging but having something in the garage to hit some of our mountain loops down here every once in a while is great. Cranking the throttle on a big twin up the twisties has its own therapeutic value, no question.

      @@getdealtwithquick Oh yeah, my threshold for riding is about 90. My dad and I took a recent trip to the coast. It was 46 when we left in the morning and just hit 100 right as I got home. The last hour or so of that ride was brutal.

    • @chasingtrail
      @chasingtrail  2 роки тому +2

      This is my big concern with these bikes. I like to ride at a spirited pace in the twisties, and as great as this feels for highway, I'm not sure I'd enjoy having to slow myself down on the fun roads. My BMW R1250R had a lean angle sensor, and I never went past 35 degrees, but many of these cruisers seem to have a max lean angle of 32.
